What is moderation(适度)? Basically , it means eating only as much food as your body needs. You should feel satisfied at the end of a meal, but not too full. 1.___ But it doesn't mean saying goodbye to the foods you love.
Take your time. It's important to slow down and think about food as something nutritious rather than just something to eat in between meetings. 2.___ It actually takes a few minutes for your brain to tell your body that it has had enough food, so eat slowly and stop eating before you feel full.
Eat with others whenever possible. Eating alone, especially in front of the TV or computer, often leads to mindless overeating. And be careful about the foods you keep at hand. It's more challenging to eat in moderation if you have unhealthy snacks at the ready , like cookies. 3.___
Control emotional(情绪的) eating. 4.___ Many of us also turn to food to deal with unpleasant emotions such as sadness, loneliness, or boredom. But by learning healthier ways to manage emotions, you can regain control over the food you eat and your feelings.
5.___ A healthy breakfast can start your metabolism (新陈代谢), while eating small, healthy meals keeps your energy up all day. Avoid eating late at night. Try to eat dinner earlier and fast for 14-16 hours until breakfast the next morning. Studies suggest that eating only when you're most active and giving your digestive system a long break each day may help to regulate weight.

In the past few years, online learning has become a significant part of the university and college experience. 1.___ But are all online courses created equal? How can you be sure that digital learning is right for you? 2.___ We interviewed students and professors to get their advice about online courses.
The most obvious advantage of online learning is that you can study anywhere and anytime. 3.___ "I think a point that many people lose sight of is how easy it can be to fall behind schedule," says graduate student Amanda Bindman. Before choosing to study online, consider whether you're a self-motivated learner and if the material seems interesting enough to keep you going.
The tip that comes up most often is simple: build online courses into your weekly schedule, just like what you would do with in-person courses. 4.___ He noted that his online students usually end up with lower grades. It is so easy to let an online course slide, but your grades will suffer as a result. Be sure to schedule set times to watch your lectures, read materials and contribute to online discussion boards.
5.___ A social connection is often a big part of learning. There are things you can do to ease this problem. Jessica Pink, an undergraduate student, suggests taking online courses with a friend, so you can motivate each other to stay on track. You can also find students on the class discussion board to organize a study group, or schedule in-person meetings with your professor to discuss course concepts.

With my parents away on a business trip, I planned to spend a quiet weekend at home. But when my friends Chickie and Dom invited me to join them for an afternoon at the beach, I was attracted. "I had an asthma(哮喘) attack yesterday, and it really tired me out," I warned them. "So I'll probably just lie on the sand."
A few hours later, relaxing under a beach umbrella after a picnic lunch, I was glad I'd come. Chickie and Dom went for a swim. They liked to go far out into the sea. I was bathed in sunshine until I got too hot, then took a walk down to the shore.
For a few minutes I just let the waves lap around my legs. The ocean was as smooth as glass. "I could float on my back as if I were in a swimming pool," I thought, and did. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the gentle rocking.
After some time, I opened my eyes and looked around. How did I get so far from the shore? I hadn't realized how quickly the sea was carrying me.
I started swimming as quick and hard as I could. Even so I wasn't getting any closer, and it was becoming harder to breathe. I turned around, looking for help, but I seemed to be completely alone in the water. From a distance, I saw people packing up their belongings on the sand. "It must be nearly five o'clock," I thought. "That's when the lifeguard went off duty."
A wave slapped(拍击) my face and I swallowed a mouthful of salt water. My chest was already burning as I struggled to breathe. In desperation I raised one hand and waved to get the lifeguard's attention. "I'll never last till he reaches me," I thought. "People all seem to be too far away. I can't get myself heard here and nobody even sees me!"

Fortunately, two young men happened to swim by. "Help!" I managed to shout. One of them grabbed my arm. The other grabbed his arm. Together they pulled me toward the shore. The lifeguard also noticed us, and he rushed into the water with his board. He tried to convince me that the water was shallow so that I could just stand. However, I shook my head. I was too exhausted to stand, much less to walk. They laid me over the board. "You were caught in a tide," the lifeguard said as they carried me onto the sand.
Chickie and Dom were waiting anxiously on the beach. They were scared when they saw me being carried out of the water. I showed my sincere gratitude to the people who saved me. And the lifeguard warned us to be careful while swimming and never swim alone. Chickie and Dom took care of me and made sure I was okay. It was a strong reminder that one should always be careful and never underestimate the power of nature, even on a supposedly mild day at the beach.
