Activity4: Read for the skills
My favourite book is The Old Man and the Sea. It was written in 1952 by the American writer Ernest Hemingway. The book became popular very quickly. In 1953, it won the Pulitzer Prize.
The main character is a fisherman who hasn't caught anything for months. One day he catches a huge fish, but he has to fight for days to kill it. He finally succeeds, but he can't pull the fish onto his boat. On his way back, sharks eat it, leaving nothing but bones.
This book has taught me not to give up or doubt myself. I’m inspired by how hard the fisherman fights, even though he loses the fish in the end. As Hemingway said, “Man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated.” Even though I've already read the book three times, I'm not tired of it yet. If you've never read Ernest Hemingway, I recommend this book.

Introduction
Story
My favourite book is The Journey to the West. It is a famous traditional Chinese book written by Wu Cheng’en. It is one of four Chinese literary classics and it has been popular for hundreds of years.
The main story is about a brave monk named Xuanzang and his three followers. They start a long and risky journey to India to get sacred holy texts. During their trip, they meet all kinds of monsters and face difficult challenges and dangers. However, with the Monkey King’s great bravery and powerful magical skills, they work together and get through every difficulty on the road. Finally, they achieve their goal.
This book has taught me a valuable lesson. It tells me that we should never give up when we face trouble. I am deeply inspired by the four travellers’ spirit and teamwork. No matter how hard the difficulties are, they never lose hope and keep moving forward. Life is just like their long journey, full of challenges. Only by sticking to our goals and keeping trying can we finally succeed. Even though this is an old classic story, I am never tired of reading it. I strongly recommend this book to everyone.
