1. 可数名词有单数和复数两种形式,如:pear,pears。
2. 可数名词可以被基数词、不定冠词(a/an)和many等修饰,如:
three potatoes, an apple, many grapes。
3. 只修饰可数名词复数的修饰语:不定代词(many, a few, few,
several, a couple of, a number of...)、除one之外的基数词。

可数名词变复数的规则变化
构成方法 示例
一般情况,加 -s banana→bananas;gift→gifts;
以字母s, x, sh, ch等结尾的词,加 -es bus→buses;box→boxes;brush→brushes;watch→watches;特例:stomach→stomachs
以字母f或fe结尾的词,变f或fe为v,再加 -es leaf→leaves; wife→wives; knife→knives;shelf→shelves; wolf→wolves; life→lives
特例:roof→roofs; belief→beliefs

不可数名词

3. 只修饰不可数名词的修饰语:much, little, a little, 等。
有些名词既可作可数名词又可作不可数名词,但意义不同

1. 可数名词作主语时,谓语动词的单、复数要和主语保持一致。
e.g. A cake is on the table.
e.g. Some chickens are eating on the farm.
2.多个并列的可数名词单数或可数名词复数作主语时,谓语动词用复数形式。
e.g. A pear and a watermelon are enough.

有一些名词的复数形式变化是不规则的。

不可数名词: 不可计数的名词称为不可数名词。没有复数形式, 前面不能用不定冠词a, an, 也不能直接加数词, 但可以跟某些量词短语搭配, 表示数量。如: a glass of water, two cups of tea。

①不能直接用a/an或具体的数词修饰,表示确
切的数量时,需用“ a/an或数词十表示计量单位 的名词十of+不可数名词”结构。

4. 可数名词复数变化规则(不规则变化)
有一些名词的复数形式变化是不规则的。
不规则变化三:集体名词,以单数形式出现,但实为复数。
(1)people, police, cattle等本身就是复数。
(2)the English, the British, the French, the Chinese, the Japanese等名词,表示国民总称时,作复数用。
