Chinese people always treat their guests to a nice dinner. At the table, the guests should eat first. The Chinese host often puts food on the guests’ plates. This may surprise Western guests a lot, because this does not happen at Western dinner tables. Chinese families try their best to make you feel at home.
When you finish eating, the host often says, “It seems that you didn’t eat much. Please eat more.” Even if you tell them you are full, they still put more food in your bowl.
Being warm and hospitable is very important in Chinese culture. As Confucius said long ago, “How happy we are to meet friends from afar!”

阅读下面短文,并用英语回答问题(请注意每小题的词数要求)。
Li Ming is a Chinese student. He has an American friend named Jack. One day, Jack planned to visit him. He wanted to give Li Ming a gift. In America, people often wrap (包装) gifts nicely. So, Jack bought a beautiful box of chocolates and wrapped it carefully.
When Jack gave the gift to Li Ming, he saw that Li Ming looked a little surprised. Li Ming explained, “In China, people do not usually wrap gifts so nicely. We prefer simple wrapping or sometimes no wrapping at all. Also, Chinese people think it is polite to refuse a gift a few times before they accept it.”
Jack also learned that different cultures have different ways of giving gifts. In China, the thought behind the gift is more important than how it looks. People value the meaning and effort put into choosing something special.
After that, Li Ming smiled and accepted the chocolates. He said “thank you” many times. The two friends enjoyed the chocolates together. Jack was happy to learn that even though they were from different countries, they could still be good friends by understanding each other’s customs.
73. What gift did Jack buy for Li Ming?(不超过5个词)
______________________________________________
74. Why did Li Ming look a little surprised when he got the gift?(不超过10个词)

China is a country of etiquette (礼仪). Chinese people are really hospitable people in the world. If foreigners visit a Chinese family, they will be surprised at the warm welcome.
When you visit a Chinese family, the host often makes tea for you first. Then they may give you some snacks like biscuits or sweets. At the same time, they will cook a big meal for you.

I am Mike. I like travelling very much. I had a wonderful trip to Chaohu Lake in Anhui. You will be interested in this place after I share it with you.
Last winter holiday, I went to Chaohu Lake with my family. It is the largest freshwater lake in Anhui Province. We got up very early one morning to see the beautiful sunrise by the lake. The weather was clear and the air was fresh. When the sun came up, the surface of the lake turned bright golden, and the waves sparkled like little stars. It looked so amazing that I couldn’t say a word. My parents took many photos of the wonderful view. Our guide told us many stories about the lake and its surrounding scenery. People call it “the pearl of Anhui”. It has a wide lake surface, nice lakeshores and many beautiful islands. We also saw lovely water birds and many rice fields along the way. I felt very happy and relaxed during the trip.
