Wang Haoze is a member of the Shenzhou-19 crew She had always dreamed of traveling to space and has now become the third Chinese woman to travel to space.
Her mother was a middle school teacher, and her father was a policeman. Growing up in such a family, she learned the importance of working hard from an early age.
During her time at university, she showed a great learning ability and was always at the top of her class. Besides her studies, she was interested in sports and often took part in various competitions.
In 2015, Wang finished her studies and started working as a rocket engineer in Beijing. One day, she heard about the astronaut selection (宇航员选拔) and decided to apply. About 2,500 people took part in the selection. Finally, Wang passed all the tests and became the only woman among the 18 selected astronauts.
From that moment on, Wang Haoze faced many new challenges. She went through strict training at sea and in the desert. In one test, she was required to stay awake for 72 hours. However, nothing could make her give up. “I kept going and after nearly 1,000 training cycles, I finally met all the training standards (标准)” Wang said.

C
It’s not easy to grow up. Growing up can be a real “pain” for some of us. Sometimes we feel sad, sometimes we are fearful, and sometimes we just don’t understand why we can’t stay young forever. But we should take a look back on all the painful things in life with a positive attitude and we should learn from them. We should realise that all of our growing pains actually turn into growing gains!
Throughout our lives we are going to face many challenges and pains, but we should never let these difficulties keep us from following our dreams. We must overcome (克服) them one small step at a time.
When I was a young girl, my parents asked me to do so many things that I didn’t like. They made me learn to play the violin and then the piano. At that time I hated music and I also hated them. But looking back now, I am so glad that my parents encouraged me to take music lessons. Music has enriched (充实) my life in so many ways. I now understand that my parents and teachers wanted me to have a better life.
We are all going to experience growing pains, but they are just part of our life. Think about how we would feel if we had no challenges and lived a life like that. Life would be really boring and meaningless. The future is ours! A little hard work and sweat never hurt anyone! If we realise that these pains are just small bumps (碰撞) on our road to success, we will realise that our growing pains are actually growing gains!
24. How does the writer feel now about what her parents did for her in the past?
A. Surprised. B. Unhappy. C. Thankful. D. Angry.
25. Which of the following is WRONG according to the text?
A. Growing pains are part of our life.
B. Our growing pains will finally turn into growing gains.
C. Life without challenges is boring and meaningless.
D. Successful people never experience growing pains.
26. Which can be the best title for the text?
A. Growing up is a real pain. B. Growing up is quite hard.
C. Growing pains are challenges. D. Growing pains are growing gains.
C 25. D 26. D
根据第三段中“But looking back now, I am so glad that my parents encouraged me to take music lessons… I now understand that my parents and teachers wanted me to have a better life.”
根据第四段“We are all going to experience growing pains… these pains are just small bumps on our road to success”可知,每个人都会经历成长烦恼,它是成功路上的必经阶段,因此 D 选项“成功的人从不经历成长烦恼”与文意不符,是错误的。
文章第一段和最后一段均强调了核心观点“all of our growing pains actually turn into growing gains”(成长的烦恼实际上会变成成长的收获),全文围绕这一主题展开。
D
Are you curious about how jobs will change in the coming years? Technology and AI are changing the job market rapidly. A McKinsey study found that by 2030, almost a third of jobs worldwide could be taken over by automation (自动化). Here are some jobs that may disappear because of AI.
The first is the train driver. With better automation, traditional train drivers are becoming less necessary. Automation can reduce train drivers’ errors by finding cracks (裂缝) in train wheels more carefully. If train drivers miss these problems by mistake, it could be very dangerous, but machines can catch them.
Next is the cashier. Many stores now have self-checkout machines. Experts believe these machines will be everywhere by 2030. And with the development of technology, people are less likely to carry cash when they go out. They find cash is not as convenient as e-pay. So there won’t be many cashiers left in the future.
Finally is the referee (裁判). More and more people accept the AI-powered video help. It’s more accurate (精确) and objective (客观). So fans and teams can’t stand (容忍) the mistakes that human referees make now. Soon, AI and sensors may make more correct calls than human referees. However, it’s not all bad news.
27. How can automation reduce train drivers’ errors according to Paragraph 2?
_____________________________________________________________
28. What makes a cashier likely to be replaced by AI?
_____________________________________________________________
29. Why can’t fans and teams stand human referees’ mistakes now?
_____________________________________________________________
30. Do you think the jobs mentioned in the passage will be replaced by AI? Why or why not?
_____________________________________________________________
27. By finding cracks in train wheels more carefully.
28. Self-checkout machines and e-pay.
29. Because the AI-powered video help is more accurate and objective.
30. Yes, I do. Because AI is more convenient./No, I don’t. Because people are more creative.

第三段提到“Many stores now have self-checkout machines…people are less likely to carry cash…cash is not as convenient as e-pay”,整合这两个原因即可。
第四段指出“More and more people accept the AI-powered video help. It’s more accurate and objective. So fans and teams can’t stand the mistakes that human referees make now”,直接引用因果关系。

Students are more likely to help each other as well. Teamwork spirit is not born but built. Here are things you can do to improve teamwork spirit.
