AI is used in many ways to make our lives better. AI can help teachers by giving special lessons to students based on their learning speed and style. In our homes, smart speakers and home assistants can control lights, play music, and even tell us the weather.
However, AI also brings problems like disinformation. Renee from Stanford Internet Observatory says, “Social media made spreading false news cheap, and AI makes it even cheaper.” Tools like GPT-4 can easily make lots of misleading news to fool people.
AI takes the cost of spreading to zero. And AI can produce more than text. Open AI, the American company behind GPT-4, has developed a similar tool, Voice Engine, which can clone (克隆) any voice from a 3-second clip (片段) and no one can find the difference.
Similarly, Sora, from Open AI, can produce surprisingly realistic videos of up to a minute according to the given text. Open AI has not released (发布) Sora to the public, because it could be used to create disinformation.
Though all of this is worrying, not all parts of the technology are bad. AI can be used for fighting disinformation. Anyway, it’s time to think about how we use AI. We need to make sure to use it responsibly and for the benefit of all people.
44. How does the writer lead in the topic at the beginning?
A. By giving examples. B. By telling a story. C. By comparing facts.
45. Which does the underlined word “disinformation” mean?
A. True information that is shared to help people learn new things.
B. Useful information that is spread quickly through social media.
C. Misleading information that is created on purpose to trick people.
46. What can we know about Voice Engine according to the passage?
A. It is produced before GPT-4.
B. It’s a tool that can clone any voice.
C. It can produce videos of one minute.
47. Which is closest to the writer’s attitude (态度) towards AI?
A. AI is very useful in our daily life.
B. The future of the AI is really bright.
C. People should make good use of AI.
48. What’s the structure of the passage?
A. B. C.

The Internet should be a place for us to share ideas and make friends. However, bad and rude words can be seen from time to time. This makes us think about: 49
Online bullying (网霸) is not an unusual thing. During the 15th National Games, the young diving champion (冠军) Quan Hongchan received bad comments (评论) about her looks and body. She even thought about giving up her diving career (职业生涯). She didn’t dare to wear skirts or shorts she liked. To control her weight, she had to avoid her favorite snacks and do hours of hard exercise. 50
Quan’s story has drawn much attention. Officials have started to take action against online bullying. As an article in China Daily reported, online bullying is not a joke or free speech. 51 It reminds us to speak reasonably.
Facing online bullying, we cannot just stand by. 52 Freedom of speech does not mean we can hurt others with our words. We should tell people to think twice before they type and learn to respect others’ feelings. Second, website platforms need to check the content (内容) carefully and delete bad words quickly.
53 We must balance our freedom and responsibility. Don’t let keyboards become sharp knives. Let’s work together to protect the online world so that kindness and respect can grow everywhere.
A. This caused her great pain.
B. First, we should be kind and polite.
C. It causes great harm and is against the law.
D. She has grown 15 cm taller and put on about 10 kilos.
E. How can we keep the online world a clean and safe place?
F. Building a clean and friendly internet space needs everyone’s effort.

In January, 2025, the Ministry of Education made strict rules to cut down exam times for students. Students in Grade 1-2 of primary school have no written exams, while other grades only have one final-exam each term. Middle schools can hold one mid-term exam properly, but monthly exams are cancelled.
A report from Jinri Toutiao
For a long time, there have been too many exams in basic education. Students take weekly tests, monthly exams, mid-term and final-exams. It makes them feel stressed, which harms their physical and mental health. The schools and teachers pay more attention to students’ scores instead of their good study habits and abilities. Reducing the number of exams can change these bad situations.
Should students’ daily exams be cancelled? It became a hot topic. Different people have different opinions.
Sun Jing, a parent
Ya Ming, a student
Without exams, I will be more relaxed. I needn’t feel worried if my child fails a daily exam. Also, I won’t push my children to attend extra courses. But I can judge kid’s progress through their homework, class performance and daily review.
I think proper daily exams are still necessary. Exams are a useful way to check what students have learned and find their weakness in time. Without exams, students may not know how well they study. Some students with weak self-discipline (自律) may fall behind.
Fu Xing, a student
Liu Mei, a teacher
Fewer exams help us learn for real knowledge not just for grades. Fewer exams can greatly reduce our study. pressure. We will have more time to take exercise, develop hobbies and enjoy school life. What’s more, teachers and parents will pay more attention to our all-round development.
Proper daily exams can push students to review knowledge regularly. They can learn to manage time and face pressure, which are important skills for their future life. But the new challenges we must face is that we need to create new education ways, which requires higher teaehing ability.
In my opinion, schools can have proper daily exams. But they shouldn’t be too frequent (频繁的). The key is to keep a balance between checking learning and reducing pressure. As students, we should treat the exams as a way to improve ourselves not just to get grades.
54. What exams may the seventh-grade students have at most in a term?
55. Why are exam times cut down according to the report?
56. How can parents know about their children’s study without exams?
57. What ideas do Ya Ming and Liu Mei have in common?
58. Do you think students’ daily exams should be cancelled? Why or why not?
