Two friends also in their seventies joined me on a four-day wilderness getaway. We agreed we should set out while we still had the courage and strength. Our adventure began with a tense drive up a winding mountain road. On one hike, I found myself hanging onto a wire alongside a narrow bridge made of two partly rotten logs, suspended above violent rapids. I would never have dared to cross it without our guide moving ahead, murmuring encouragement. Fixing my gaze on her boots, I inched my way forward across the unsteady structure. Somehow I made it to the other side, overwhelmed by relief. Later, after spotting fresh bear tracks, we were told to make loud noises — a practice that soon became a light-hearted game. We had just stepped across a shallow stream when our guide whispered, “There’s a bear.” I looked up and saw two: a sturdy brown mother bear with her cub following behind. Though frozen with fear, I admired how graceful they appeared. As they began moving toward us, we regained enough presence of mind to shout loudly and wave our hiking poles. Taken by surprise, the bears paused, then turned and retreated into the woods. Another fear was overcome! On our final morning, we were asked to collect a meaningful stick, rock, and leaf. We would share what would “stick” with us, what had “rocked” our world, and what we hoped to “leaf” behind. The bond of friendship would stick with me. Women supporting one another truly rocked. And I hoped to leave some fears behind for good. Our guide ended by expressing her admiration, praising not only our fitness but also our positive attitude, and saying she hoped to be like us in another thirty or forty years. Those unexpected words warmed my heart and eased my fear of being “over the hill”. Being valued for what we had accomplished felt like winning an Olympic medal — even if just for participation. 24. How did the author manage to cross the log bridge? A. By relying on her sense of balance. B. By following the guide’s physical guidance. C. By rushing right across it with great bravery. D. By walking behind the guide with eyes closed 25. Why did the two bears finally leave? A. They lost interest in human beings. B. They sensed danger from other animals. C. They were frightened by the group’s reaction. D. They were disturbed by the noise of the rapids. 26. Why did the guide ask the group to bring back a stick, a rock and a leaf? A. To improve their ability to observe. B. To show their appreciation of nature. C. To collect simple souvenirs of the trip. D. To reflect on their experience and feelings. 27. What does the underlined phrase “over the hill” in the last paragraph mean? A. Out of place in society. B. Too high to go down. C. Past the peak of youth. D. Beyond physical limits. C When mass commercialism and art mix, artistic integrity often suffers. I acknowledge artists need enough money to live on. Nevertheless, I don’t think art should be about trying to make as much money as humanly possible, and I can’t imagine ever being convinced otherwise. Visual arts have often been a place for artists who stay true to their art to express themselves. Van Gogh sold one painting during his lifetime and is now considered one of the best artists ever to have lived. Although his lack of commercial success was a cause of suffering during his lifetime, it was probably also a source of his uniqueness. Van Gogh did not have artistic agents giving him market feedback, and he didn’t bend to market demands in order to sell his works. The danger of pieces of art being sold for unreasonable amounts of money is that artists turn their works into brands. When art accumulates (积聚) that much commercial value, it starts being seen in the same way as a really flashy car that is too expensive to risk driving. A piece of art gets bought by a millionaire, and to accumulate value and minimize the risk of damage, he keeps it in his private museum. Ultimately, few people get the chance to appreciate it, especially since art museums can’t keep up with rising art prices. Even galleries as big as Tate Britain only have acquisition budgets of £5 million, and with the upcoming government cuts to the arts, this purchasing power will decrease continuously. There’s a reason why Mark Rothko turned down the commission (委托制作) from the Four Seasons Restaurant. Rothko recognized how damaging the idea of making art purely for a paycheck was. He did not want his paintings to be merely used as decorative items in a luxurious restaurant, but hoped that they could be placed in a more suitable place where people could truly feel the spiritual power of his works. 28. How does the author find the commercialization of art? A. Profitable. B. Misleading. C. Unavoidable. D. Destructive. 29. How does the author develop paragraph 2? A. By listing data. B. By analyzing effects. C. By giving examples. D. By making comparisons. 30. What consequence does high-priced art bring? A. It degrades the quality of art. B. It restricts public enjoyment. C. It boosts art galleries’ budget. D. It facilitates massive copying. 31. Which of the following would Mark Rothko agree with? A. Art ought to maintain its purity. B. Art may exist in every little corner. C. Artworks often go unrecognized. D. Artworks are no more than decorations. D In recent decades, experiments have begun to catch up with what people who work closely with animals have always known — that animals have an inner life, and that consciousness isn’t uniquely human. Consciousness is a concept that is extremely difficult to define. There have been many attempts: is it awareness, or awareness of that awareness, or self-awareness instead? But a useful working definition might be that it is any kind of subjective experience, ranging from how we perceive the external world to our inner thoughts and emotions. Because you can never be inside another living being’s head, questions of consciousness are both hard to answer and open to bias (偏见). Findings of experiments inspired a group of scientists to write The New York Declaration Animal Consciousness in April, which now has over 300 supporters. It states that there is “strong scientific support for conscious experience” in mammals and birds and “at least a realistic possibility of conscious experience” in fish and other species. That animals have some form of inner life must surely be self-evident to many people who live or work with them, just as I would guess that most carers of newborn babies don’t see these infants as senseless automatic machines. The experiences of people with thorough knowledge of either have historically been viewed as subjective and biased, as emotional connection tends to influence logical reasoning. Our consciousness leads us to over-empathize with others we cannot truly know, the argument goes. But, as the biologist Marc Bekoff wrote, if we humans have something, then other animals are likely to have it too. I personally feel that attempts to divorce emotion, feeling and experience from how we see animals can be as unscientific. For too long, we assumed that humans are unique and that animals don’t feel pain or emotions the way we do, a convenient but cruel null hypothesis (无效假设), when we could have started from the position that perhaps they do instead. 32. What is a key characteristic of consciousness according to the passage? A. An individual’s subjective experience. B. Any emotional experience of humans. C. The way we perceive the external world. D. A common quality shared by all animals. 33. Why are the carers of newborn babies mentioned? A. To challenge the view of animal carers. B. To explain how animals gain consciousness. C. To prove animals are as conscious as human babies. D. To justify animal carers’ belief in animals’ inner life. 34. What can we infer from the last paragraph? A. It is unreasonable to deny animals’ emotional feelings. B. People should ignore emotions when studying animals. C. Human uniqueness has been proven by scientific evidence. D. The null hypothesis about animals is scientifically reliable. 35. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Consciousness Improved Through Practice. B. Questions of Human Consciousness Answered. C. Factors Affecting Animal Consciousness Discovered. D. Conscious Experience Found in Certain Animal Species. Humans have a need to share their beliefs and values with other people. ____36____ This has a solid logic: Sharing emotions and opinions can lead to imitation (模仿), which can in turn create unity and enhance relationships. Besides creating a bond, another reason you might want someone to model themselves on your feelings is to get them to alter their views. ____37____ The choice will depend on the other person’s situation. If he/she already agrees with you, then your negativity can raise the intensity of his/her views. ____38____ Sometimes, people you are talking to don’t always think the way you do. They will simply judge your statement to be hyperbolic (浮夸的) and biased. And you won’t get them to imitate you at all. To an even greater degree, if they disagree with you, what you say will harden their values against yours. ____39____ When people are offended over the opinions they hold, they are much more likely to dig into their position against that of the speaker. Imagine a person came to your house with a beautiful bunch of flowers. But when you opened the door, he/ she hit you with the flowers. ____40____ So, if you want to be more persuasive, consider the specific situations and share them more positively — in other words, turn your beliefs and values into a gift, rather than a weapon. A. This is the so-called backfire effect. B. One size, however, won’t fit for all. C. You were wondering why they brought flowers at all. D. When you feel strongly about something, it’s hard not to talk about it. E. This is essentially the result of using your flowers negatively as weapons. F. Positive emotions may be better at leading to imitation than negative emotions. G. To achieve the goal, you can outline your views either positively or negatively. The days that make us happy make us wise. — by John Masefield When I first read this line by England’s Poet Laureate, it ____41____ me. What did Masefield mean? Without thinking about it much, I had always assumed that the ____42____ was true. But his serious assurance was ____43____. I was deeply attracted by it. Slowly, I seemed to ____44____ his meaning and realized the wisdom that happiness makes possible lies in clear perception (洞察力), not ____45____ by anxiety nor dimmed by despair and boredom, and without the blind ____46____ caused by fear. Active happiness — not mere satisfaction or ____47____ — often comes suddenly, like an April shower or the unfolding of a bud. Then you discover what kind of wisdom has ____48____ it. Amazingly, in your eyes, the grass is greener; bird songs are sweeter; the ____49____ of your friends are more understandable, and more forgivable. Happiness is like a pair of eyeglasses correcting your ____50____ vision. Nor are the ____51____ of happiness limited to what is near around you. Unhappy, with your thoughts focused on your emotional woes (痛苦), your vision is cut short as though blocked by a wall. Happy, the wall ____52____. Consequently, the long vision is there for the seeing. The ground at your feet, the world about you — people, thoughts, emotions, pressures — are now ____53____ a larger scene. Everything ____54____ a fairer proportion (比例). Everything around you, whether it is encouraging or frustrating, no longer seems such a big deal. And here is the beginning of ____55____. 41. A. terrified B. surprised C. satisfied D. upset 42. A. other B. opposite C. view D. former 43. A. distracting B. confusing C. arresting D. disturbing 44. In 1967, Mom went to Hong Kong, where she met Dad. They went to the suburbs of Connecticut later. Not knowing English, she was lonely until I was born. When I was young, Mom liked to make paper animals for me. She folded up the paper, then lifted the paper packet to her mouth and blew into it. There in her hands was a little paper tiger. It seemed that the little tiger shared her breath. This was her magic. At my request, Mom also made a goat, a deer and even a shark. Mark, one of the neighborhood boys, came over with his Star Wars action figure. I brought out the paper tiger. Mark examined the wrapping-paper pattern of the tiger’s skin. "That doesn’t look like a tiger. Is it a toy? ""I had never thought of that. But looking at it, it was really just a piece of wrapping paper. Later, Dad bought me a full set of Wars action figures. I packed the paper animals in a shoebox and put them into the comer of the attic(阁楼). Once in a while, I would see Mom at the kitchen table making new paper animals. I caught them, pressed and then put them away in the box in the attic. Mom was also trying to learn to speak English, but her accent and broken sentences embarrassed me. I tried to correct her. but in vain. Eventually. I stopped talking with her. For years, I paid no attention to Mom until one day my Dad called and told me that Mom was in hospital. Dad and I stood, one on each side of Mom. She turned to me, " Jack, just keep that box with you, and you will find it so important. " She died several days later. Dad aged raw after that. The house was too big for him and had to be sold. My girlfriend Susan and I went to help him pack and clean the place. Susan found the shoebox in the attic. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ I unfolded the paper tiger and found several lines of Chinese characters written by my mother. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 合肥六中2026届高三最后一卷 英 语 (本试卷满分150分,考试时间120分钟) 注意事项: 1. What is Sarah doing? B 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇应用文。文章主要介绍了澳大利亚举办的学生摄影比赛相关信息,包括参赛对象、参赛作品要求、比赛奖项设置等。 【21题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段“The 2024 competition is open to students attending Australian primary or secondary schools or colleges. It provides an excellent opportunity for students to become aware of the value and beauty of the Australian National Botanic Gardens (ANBG). By exercising their photographic skills, students can share that beauty with other visitors.(2024年的比赛面向澳大利亚中小学或大学的学生开放。 故选A。 【23题详解】 细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“Certificates will also be presented to all winners. (得奖者亦会获颁发证书)”可知,每个获奖者都会获得一张证书。故选B。 B This summer I faced three deep-rooted fears: heights, bears, and ageing. 【答案】24. B 25. C 26. D 27. C 【解析】 【导语】文章主要讲述了年逾七旬的作者与朋友在荒野之旅中勇敢克服恐高、怕熊等内心恐惧,并通过旅途感悟逐渐释怀对衰老的焦虑,展现了老年群体勇于挑战自我、珍视友谊与积极面对生活的人生态度。 【24题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“I would never have dared to cross it without our guide moving ahead, murmuring encouragement.(若不是导游在前引路并低声鼓励,我绝不敢走过去。)”可知,作者是跟随导游在前面的引路才顺利通过木桥的。 【25题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“As they began moving toward us, we regained enough presence of mind to shout loudly and wave our hiking poles. Taken by surprise, the bears paused, then turned and retreated into the woods.(当他们开始向我们移动时,我们终于恢复了足够的冷静,大声喊叫并挥舞登山杖。熊群受惊停下,随即转身退回树林中。)”可知,熊被大家的反应吓到了,从而转身离开了。 【26题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段“We would share what would “stick” with us, what had “rocked” our world, and what we hoped to “leaf” behind.(我们会分享那些“铭记”于心、“震撼”我们世界的事物,以及我们希望“遗忘”的东西。)”可知,导游让我们带回这三样东西是要让我们分享旅途中的感受和触动,是为了反思旅途的经历和感受。 【27题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第一段“This summer I faced three deep-rooted fears: heights, bears, and ageing.(这个夏天我直面了三个根深蒂固的恐惧:恐高、怕熊和畏惧衰老。)”可知,作者畏惧衰老;结合最后一段“Our guide ended by expressing her admiration, praising not only our fitness but also our positive attitude, and saying she hoped to be like us in another thirty or forty years.(我们的导游最后表达了她的钦佩之情,不仅称赞了我们的健康体魄,还表扬了我们积极的态度,并表示希望再过三四十年能像我们一样。)”和“Those unexpected words warmed my heart and eased my fear of being “over the hill”.(那些意想不到的话语温暖了我的心,也缓解了我对“over the hill”的恐惧。)”可知,导游的称赞缓解了作者对自己已经过了青春的巅峰期、开始衰老的恐惧,故over the hill表示“过了青春的巅峰期”。 C When mass commercialism and art mix, artistic integrity often suffers. 【答案】28. D 29. C 30. B 31. A 【解析】 【导语】主要探讨艺术商业化对艺术完整性的破坏及相关案例和影响。 【28题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段“When mass commercialism and art mix, artistic integrity often suffers.(当商业大潮与艺术相互交融时,艺术的纯粹性往往会受到损害)”可知,作者认为艺术商业化具有破坏性。 【29题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段“Visual arts have often been a place for artists who stay true to their art to express themselves. Van Gogh sold one painting during his lifetime and is now considered one of the best artists ever to have lived. Although his lack of commercial success was a cause of suffering during his lifetime, it was probably also a source of his uniqueness. Van Gogh did not have artistic agents giving him market feedback, and he didn’t bend to market demands in order to sell his works.(视觉艺术常常是那些坚守艺术本真、敢于表达自我的艺术家们的舞台。梵高在生前仅售出过一幅画作,但如今他却被视为有史以来最杰出的艺术家之一。尽管他在生前未能取得商业上的成功,这给他带来了痛苦,但这也可能是他与众不同的根源所在。梵高没有艺术经纪人来为他提供市场反馈,也没有为了卖出作品而迎合市场需求)”可知,作者在第二段的写作手法是举例子。 【30题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“A piece of art gets bought by a millionaire, and to accumulate value and minimize the risk of damage, he keeps it in his private museum. Ultimately, few people get the chance to appreciate it, especially since art museums can’t keep up with rising art prices.(一件艺术品被一位百万富翁买下,为了保值并降低受损风险,他将其存放在自己的私人博物馆中。最终,很少有人有机会欣赏它,尤其是因为艺术博物馆无法跟上艺术品价格不断上涨的趋势)”可知,高价艺术品会限制公众对其的欣赏。 【31题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Rothko recognized how damaging the idea of making art purely for a paycheck was. He did not want his paintings to be merely used as decorative items in a luxurious restaurant, but hoped that they could be placed in a more suitable place where people could truly feel the spiritual power of his works.(罗斯科深知那种纯粹为了赚钱而创作艺术的想法是多么有害。他不想自己的画作仅仅被用作豪华餐厅里的装饰品,而是希望它们能被安置在更合适的场所,让人们能够真正感受到其作品所蕴含的精神力量)”可推断,马克·罗斯科认为艺术应该保持其纯粹性,不应沦为商业工具或装饰。 D In recent decades, experiments have begun to catch up with what people who work closely with animals have always known — that animals have an inner life, and that consciousness isn’t uniquely human. 【答案】32. A 33. D 34. A 35. D 【解析】 【导语】文章主要介绍了相关实验证实部分动物拥有意识与内心活动,科学家发表宣言佐证该观点,反驳了过去认为只有人类拥有意识的错误看法。 【32题详解】 细节理解题。根据原文第二段“But a useful working definition might be that it is any kind of subjective experience, ranging from how we perceive the external world to our inner thoughts and emotions.(但一个实用的现行定义或许是:意识是任意一种主观体验,从我们感知外界的方式到内心的思绪与情绪都包含在内。)”可知,个体的主观体验是意识的主要特征。 【33题详解】 推理判断题。根据原文第四段“That animals have some form of inner life must surely be self-evident to many people who live or work with them, just as I would guess that most carers of newborn babies don’t see these infants as senseless automatic machines.(对于许多和动物一同生活、工作的人来说,动物拥有某种内在生命是不言而喻的,就像我猜想大多数新生儿看护者不会把婴儿视作没有知觉的自动机器。)”可知,作者列举婴儿看护者的例子,是为佐证饲养动物的人相信动物拥有内心活动的观点合乎情理。 【34题详解】 推理判断题。根据原文最后一段“For too long, we assumed that humans are unique and that animals don’t feel pain or emotions the way we do, a convenient but cruel null hypothesis, when we could have started from the position that perhaps they do instead.(长久以来,我们武断认定人类独一无二,动物无法像人类一样感知痛苦与情绪,这是一个省事却残忍的无效假设,我们本可以从动物或许拥有情绪这个角度展开研究。)”可知,否认动物具备情绪感受是不合理的。 【35题详解】 主旨大意题。根据原文第三段“It states that there is “strong scientific support for conscious experience” in mammals and birds and “at least a realistic possibility of conscious experience” in fish and other species.(该宣言表明,有充分科学依据证明哺乳类和鸟类存在意识体验,鱼类及其他物种至少很有可能具备意识体验。)”及全文内容可知,文章围绕部分物种被证实存在意识体验展开论述,最佳标题为:部分动物物种存在意识体验。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Humans have a need to share their beliefs and values with other people. 【答案】36. D 37. G 38. B 39. A 40. E 【解析】 【导语】文章介绍了人们乐于分享自身信念与价值观的缘由,阐述分享可凝聚关系或改变他人观点,但分享方式有正负之分,消极表达易适得其反,建议用积极方式表达观点以增强说服力。 【36题详解】 根据前文“Humans have a need to share their beliefs and values with other people.(人类有和他人分享自身信念与价值观的需求。)” 以及后文“This has a solid logic: Sharing emotions and opinions can lead to imitation, which can in turn create unity and enhance relationships.(这有着充分的逻辑:分享情绪与观点能带来效仿,进而凝聚人心、增进人际关系。)”可知,前文点明人有分享想法的需求,后文解释分享的好处,空处承接上文,应说明人们会倾诉想法的情况;选项D“When you feel strongly about something, it’s hard not to talk about it.(当你对某件事感触很深时,很难闭口不谈。)” 契合上下文逻辑。 【37题详解】 根据前文“Besides creating a bond, another reason you might want someone to model themselves on your feelings is to get them to alter their views.(除了建立联结,想要别人认同你的感受的另一原因是改变对方看法。)”以及后文“The choice will depend on the other person’s situation.(选择取决于对方的处境。)”可知,前文说明目的是改变他人观点,后文提到要做出选择,空处需引出不同的选择方式;选项G“To achieve the goal, you can outline your views either positively or negatively.(为达成这个目标,你可以用积极或消极两种方式阐述观点。)” 衔接前后文。 【38题详解】 根据后文“Sometimes, people you are talking to don’t always think the way you do. They will simply judge your statement to be hyperbolic and biased.(有时候,交谈对象和你的想法并不一致,他们只会觉得你的言论夸张片面。)”可知,后文讲述统一表达方式并不适用所有人,空处总起本段,需点明方法不能一概而论;选项B“One size, however, won’t fit for all.(然而,一种办法无法适配所有人。)”引出下文不同场景的不同结果。 【39题详解】 根据前文“To an even greater degree, if they disagree with you, what you say will harden their values against yours.(更甚者,对方与你意见相悖时,你的发言会让对方更加坚守原有立场、抗拒你的观点。)”以及后文“When people are offended over the opinions they hold, they are much more likely to dig into their position against that of the speaker.(人们因自身观点被冒犯时,会越发固执己见、对抗发言者。)”可知,前后都在说明消极表达起到反效果,空处应点明该现象;选项A“This is the so-called backfire effect.(这就是所谓的事与愿违效应。)”总结前文反常结果。 【40题详解】 根据前文“Imagine a person came to your house with a beautiful bunch of flowers. But when you opened the door, he/she hit you with the flowers.(试想有人捧着一束漂亮鲜花登门,开门后却拿花砸向你。)”以及尾段“So, if you want to be more persuasive, consider the specific situations and share them more positively — in other words, turn your beliefs and values into a gift, rather than a weapon.(因此,如果你想更有说服力,就要结合具体情况、以更积极的方式表达观点。换言之,把你的信念与价值观化作馈赠,而非伤人的武器。)”可知,前文举鲜花伤人的类比,后文点明别把自己的观点当成武器,空处需总结这个比喻的内涵,引出下文;选项E“This is essentially the result of using your flowers negatively as weapons.(这本质就是把鲜花恶意当成武器使用造成的后果。)”承接例子、呼应文末道理。 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 The days that make us happy make us wise. — by John Masefield When I first read this line by England’s Poet Laureate, it ____41____ me.
