A young artist sketching in remote grasslands met a wounded wolf cub, and did not expect that this incident would rewrite her fate. The story took place in April 2010. When she came to the Ruoerge Grassland in search of creative inspiration, something unexpected happened.
At that time, Li Weiyi happened to hear the story of the wolf king from the mouths of the herders (牧民). The she-wolf had just given birth to a litter of wolf cubs, and the wolf king ran out to hunt for her, but unfortunately mistakenly fell into the herders’ trap and was eventually killed. The she-wolf was fatally poisoned and died as well.
Li Weiyi has a special affection for wild animals. She tracked down the orphaned cub, adopted it, named it Green and brought it back to Chengdu to look after. Li deliberately retained the characteristics of Green, usually feeding it live animals, and cultivating its hunting skills. But a bustling city is not an ideal place for a wild wolf to thrive, so Li returned to the plains to follow the trails of the wolves. Li took three steps, placing Green first among Tibetan Mastiffs, then into the wild and then into the wolf pack. All along, she acted with the wolf and trained it like a mother wolf. After a winter of trying, Green successfully returned to its wolf pack.
In order to save the northwest wolves like Green and arouse people’s attention and protection of wild animals, Li Weiyi turned her story into the book Let Me Accompany You Back to the Wolves, and later made the videos she had shot for Green into documentaries named Back to the Wolf Pack. In 2020, China’s first wild wolf reserve was established — a small but hopeful echo of Li Weiyi’s ten years of dedication.
The story of Li Weiyi and Green has refreshed our view of wolves. She has proved that wild animals and humans can live in harmony.
24. What did Li Weiyi gain unexpectedly?
A. A vivid story outline. B. A source of inspiration.
C. A new purpose in life. D. A better painting skill.
25. What is paragraph 2 mainly about?
A. The poor living conditions of herders.
B. The loyal love between the wolf couple.
C. The background story of Green’s adoption.
D. The courageous and tough image of wolves.
26. What does the underlined word “retained” in paragraph 3 mean?
A. improved. B. conserved. C. removed. D. adjusted.
27. How did Li Weiyi influence others to protect wild animals?
A. She trained more wolves to adapt to urban life.
B. She persuaded herders to give up hunting completely
C. She set up wolf reserves all over the country personally.
D. She took writings and videos as media to spread awareness.
C
From the swinging rhythms of the 1950s to the autotuned hooks of today, pop music has undergone a remarkable transformation. But what exactly has changed, and how can we measure it?
Researchers identify two major “melodic revolutions” in pop music history: one in 1975 and another in 2000. These turning points mark significant shifts in the structure and complexity of hit melodies. Interestingly, these musical milestones aren’t perfectly in line with the revolutions in harmony and tone color, suggesting that different aspects of music may evolve at different rates.
During these revolutions, melodies have generally become simpler, both in terms of pitch (音高) and rhythm. Modern pop hits tend to use a smaller range of notes and simpler rhythmic patterns compared to those from the 1950s and 60s. At the same time, there was a dramatic increase in “note density” — the number of notes squeezed into each second of music. This means that while today’s pop melodies might be simpler in structure, they’re often delivered more rapidly, creating a sense of energy and urgency that wasn’t as common in earlier decades.
There are several interesting possibilities for what is happening. One theory suggests that as other aspects of music production — like complex electronic beats and richly layered instrumentation (器乐谱写) — have become more sophisticated, melodies have had to simplify to maintain a balance. Another explanation points to the changing landscape of music consumption. In an era of streaming and social media, where listeners can skip to the next song in seconds, there may be more pressure to create tunes that grab attention instantly. This could favor simpler, more repetitive melodies that are easy to remember and sing along to.
Relationships between different musical features have also become stronger in recent years. For example, in post-2000 pop hits, melodies with more notes per second tend to be less complex in terms of pitch variety. This suggests that modern pop songwriting may be following stricter patterns than in the past.
28. Which of the following changes in pop music is mentioned in the text?
A. More complex rhythms. B. A wider range of pitch.
C. An increase in note density. D. More diverse tone colors.
29. What may have contributed to the revolution of pop music?
A. The trend of creating memorable tunes.
B. The conventional ways of listening to music.
C. The decreasing use of electronic instruments.
D. The need of impressing listeners immediately.
30. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. Pop songwriting might be more flexible in the past.
B. Modern pop music focuses more on rhythm than pitch.
C. Post-2000 pop hits feature complexity in pitch variety.
D. Relationships between musical elements are invariable.
31. What’s the purpose of the text?
A. To prove a viewpoint. B. To remove some doubts.
C. To illustrate a principle. D. To analyze a phenomenon.

In a quiet corner of Oxford University’s Bodleian Library, a robotic arm flips through a 15th-century manuscript, its high-resolution cameras capturing every faded ink stroke. This is ARCHiVE (Automated Robotic Cultural Heritage Inspection and Verification Engine), a £2.3 million project revolutionizing how fragile artifacts are preserved and studied. Combining robotics, artificial intelligence, and advanced imaging, ARCHiVE represents a model shift in cultural conservation.
Traditional conservation methods often risk damaging delicate materials. ARCHiVE’s robotic system, equipped with micro-sensors and AI algorithms, can detect cracks invisible to the human eye and predict structural weaknesses before they worsen. “It’s like having a doctor for ancient books,” explains Dr. Emily Carter, lead conservator. Since its 2022 launch, ARCHiVE has scanned over 8,000 items, from Egyptian papyri to medieval maps, with 99.7% accuracy in damage assessment. Its non-invasive approach has reduced physical handling by 85%, significantly lowering the risk of accidental damage.
The project’s digital twin technology creates exact virtual copies, allowing global access to restricted collections. During the 2023 Cairo Museum flood, ARCHiVE’s digital models enabled researchers to virtually “restore” water-damaged artifacts within hours. “We’re not just saving objects,” says Carter, “we’re preserving humanity’s collective memory.” This technology has also democratized access, with over 50,000 digital artifacts now available to researchers and the public worldwide.
However, some scholars argue that over-reliance on technology may distance researchers from hands-on experience. “You can’t smell history through a screen,” protests Prof. James Whitaker, a traditionalist at Cambridge. Others worry about data ownership, as scanned artifacts become digital assets potentially controlled by tech corporations. A 2024 survey revealed that 62% of conservators fear losing control over digitized cultural heritage.
ARCHiVE’s next phase involves 4D scanning, capturing how materials change over time. Pilot tests on Viking ship timbers have already revealed previously unknown construction techniques. Meanwhile, UNESCO is developing global standards for digital heritage, ensuring these technological marvels serve humanity rather than corporate interests. As Carter reflects, “Our ancestors left us these treasures; our duty is to pass them forward — both physically and digitally.”
32. What is the main function of ARCHiVE’s robotic system?
A. Repairing damaged artifacts. B. Creating virtual museum tours.
C. Identifying and forecasting damage. D. Selling digital copies of artifacts.
33. How did ARCHiVE help during the Cairo Museum flood?
A. By raising emergency funds online. B. By training local conservation staff.
C. By physically moving artifacts to safety. D. By providing digital models for restoration.
34. What is Prof. Whitaker’s main concern about ARCHiVE?
A. High operating costs. B. Loss of direct experience.
C. Environmental impact. D. Data ownership concerns.
35. Which of the following would be the best title for the article?
A. ARCHiVE: Digital Guardians of the Past.
B. Heritage Conservation: Traditional or Digital.
C. Human Conservators: Why They Still Matter.
D. AI in Museums: Ethical Dilemmas and Solutions.

Can’t find your keys-again? Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) makes people tend to put things in random places and not remember where they put them. This problem is probably familiar to anyone whose phone is missing a dozen times a day or who can’t find the TV remote until ten minutes after a favorite show has begun. 36 Here is some advice about how to cope with the situation caused by misplacing things.
When you put something down, say its location. 37 You’d say, “I’m setting my mouse to the right of my computer.” And saying that, either in your mind or out loud, focuses your attention on where you put it, upping the odds that you’ll remember its location later.
Invest in technology. There are many tools designed to keep track of items. 38 There are also objects you can put in your wallet or purse that will ring when you press a button on either another object or a phone app.
39 That might mean placing a basket by your front door where you drop your keys and wallet immediately upon entering your home or distributing one drawer as the scissors drawer. Then, at the end of the day, scan the areas where you’ve been, find the items that need to be taken back home, and return them to their spots. The same advice applies to places like your office and car.
Take a breath. If you’ve misplaced something, give your brain a minute or two. 40 But if you keep beating yourself up about it, you’re less likely to be able to focus and keep track of your possessions. So, remember to be kind to yourself.
A. Set up a routine.
B. Keep a written log.
C. It’s a common occurrence and certainly annoying.
D. Attach a tracker to what you often misplace, and it will guide you to its location.
E. Here are some measures that can make you put something back where it belongs.
F. It’s certainly understandable if you’re frustrated with your tendency to misplace things.
G. One way to be mindful of where your things are is to express where you put them in words.

At dawn in Guangzhou’s tea houses, bamboo steamers rise and teacups are washed in skilled rhythm. Nothing can bring us more 56 (refresh) than a cup of yum cha, or morning tea. For Patrick Parsons, 57 Irishman, this time-honored Lingnan routine is not only a window to a different culture 58 he has immersed himself for more than two decades, but a deeply rooted part of everyday life.
His tea habits 59 (undergo) a quiet transformation over the years. In Ireland, black tea is typically served with milk and sugar. But in Guangzhou’s tea houses, Parsons has come to prefer tea 60 its pure form. Whether Pu’er or his favored Jin Jun Mei, he drinks it unmixed. “I’ve learned to appreciate tea’s 61 (origin) flavor,” he said. In his view, the lively atmosphere of Guangzhou’s tea houses 62 (echo) the social function of Irish pubs. Parsons observed: “People come together to meet friends, to gather with family. It feels similar.” He is also fascinated by the finer details of the tradition, such as the custom of tapping fingers on the table 63 (express) thanks when tea is poured. Gradually, tea has reshaped his taste and broadened his understanding of local Cantonese culture.
With tradition and times 64 (evolve) together, yum cha continues to adapt. Yet each morning, the routine remains: diners wash their cups, share a few steamers, 65 ease into the day — one sip of tea, two bites of dim sum.

One winter day, the temperature suddenly dropped sharply, with icy winds howling outside and heavy snow blanketing the farm. It wasn’t until late that afternoon that we remembered our two ducks, a male and a female, were still at our poorly-built small farm. “Could they have frozen to death?” we wondered anxiously.
My mother and I hurried through the snow to the farm and, to our relief, found them still alive. Their bodies were covered with snow, and they were too cold even to quack (叫). Huddling closely together for warmth, they looked weak and exhausted. We quickly wrapped them in an old blanket and carried them home.
Back home, we took the ducks down to the basement and settled them in a warm corner with food, water and some old towels. In the dim light, shadows fell across old tools, ropes, broken baskets, fishing nets and other unused farm supplies that had been left there for years. The ducks soon rested quietly side by side.
We decided to leave the ducks alone so they could recover peacefully. Since they already had enough food and water, we didn’t go downstairs again for the rest of the day.
Everything seemed peaceful until that evening, when we were reading by the fire in the living room and a strange sound suddenly came from downstairs. It was a dull thumping noise, followed by a long pause. A few moments later, the sound returned, slow but urgent.
“Could that be the ducks?” my mother asked. Curious and slightly worried, we got up and went to check. It was indeed one of the ducks. Much to our surprise, the duck brother had climbed nearly to the top of the basement stairs. Struggling to stay upright, he flapped his wings wildly. Then, gathering all his remaining strength, he finally pulled himself onto the highest step and fixed his eyes on us.

第四部分 写作(共两节,满分 40 分)
第一节:
Hello, everyone!
As the picture shows, a helicopter is dropping the letter "I" into the word "Team", which breaks the original word. The image tells us that selfish and self-centered behavior will tear a team apart.
A class is just like a team. We all share the common goal of building an outstanding class and achieving healthy personal growth. To reach this goal, we ought to cooperate and support one another and be willing to make necessary compromises. Unity is the key to success. On the contrary, if everyone only thinks about themselves, team spirit will be badly damaged. As far as I’m concerned, a team consists of "we" rather than individual "I".
Thank you for listening.
第二节
Paragraph 1: When he saw us, he let out several anxious quacks and glanced back toward the basement. Without waiting for us, he immediately turned around and struggled back down the stairs. Confused by his unusual behavior, we hurried after him. In the dim basement, the duck brother rushed toward the corner where the ducks had been resting, flapping his wings wildly and quacking over and over again. A weak rustling sound soon caught our attention. Through the shadows and scattered supplies, we could barely make out another duck struggling helplessly among the ropes and fishing nets.
Paragraph 2: We finally understood why the duck had tried so hard to climb upstairs. I quickly rushed to the kitchen for a pair of scissors while my mother gently tried to calm the trapped duck. Back in the basement, I knelt beside her and carefully cut through the tangled net strand by strand. After several tense moments, the final piece finally fell away. Freed at last, the duck sister weakly moved toward her brother, and the duck brother immediately quieted down and stayed close beside her. Watching the two ducks lean against each other once again in the warm basement, I felt a lump rise in my throat. That night, I realized animals may not speak our language, but they understand love, trust and family far more deeply than we often imagine.
听力录音材料
Text 1
M: I don’t want to live in Los Angeles anymore.
W: Why not? It’s full of opportunities for people who are energetic.
M: But I can’t afford the living cost.
W: Indeed, and it’s easily affected by extreme weather.
Text 2
M: Ron is driving me crazy. He has an annoying habit of tapping his fingers on the desk.
W: Have you told him to stop?
M: No, I don’t want to be rude.
W: Well, if it’s making you crazy, staying silent isn’t going to help.
Text 3
W: That was one of the liveliest staff meetings I’ve attended.
M: Yes, the discussion became quite heated at times.
W: Especially when David challenged the manager about the projects, but he hadn’t got all his facts right.
Text 4
W: Mark, are we still hiking this weekend?
M: Maybe not. The forecast says it’ll rain.
W: While the forecast is rarely wrong, I guess I shouldn’t get my hopes up.
Text 5
W: This traffic is terrible. We’ve been stuck for 20 minutes.
M: I know, at this rate we’ll miss the 3 o’clock train. We really should have left home earlier.
W: Indeed, if we had, we’d be at the train station already.
Text 6
W: Do you help around the house much?
M: Yeah, housework doesn’t bother me. If I’ve made the bed and put away my clothes, it’s nice to look around and see everything all neat and tidy.
W: Exactly. I know what you mean, and in the kitchen? I don’t mind cutting a few vegetables or something, but I’m less keen on doing the dishes.
Text 7
W: Eric, I just finished recording the audio guide for the pencil drawings that’ll be included in our modern art exhibit next week.
M: That’s great. But unfortunately, we have to make one change. The drawing by Claudia Hoffman will no longer be in the exhibit. There was a scheduling mix-up, and it was promised to another museum starting next week.
W: Oh, will you put anything in its place?
M: No, we’ll just remove it.
W: Okay, I’ll make that change to the audio guide recording right away.
Text 8
W: Welcome to Lakeview Hotel. How may I help you?
M: My name is Robert Stark, and I have a reservation for two nights, a single bed.
W: Okay, Mr. Stark, please fill out this form.
M: Sure. Where is the main lecture hall? I don’t want to be late for the writers’ gathering tomorrow. Many famous writers will be here. I’m very excited to attend their lectures.
W: The main lecture hall is on the second floor. Mr. Stark, I will put you in room 403.
M: Thank you. And where can I buy a nice souvenir?
W: There is a large souvenir shop two blocks away, about 10 minutes’ walk from here. It’s across the street from a grocery store. Here is your room key. Enjoy your stay, Mr. Stark.
M: Okay, could you direct me to the lift?
Text 9
W: Hello, Dr. Green. I’m here to talk to you about my work placement.
M: Oh, yes. So... which work placement have you chosen?
W: I decided to go for the Orion Stadium placement. The event I’ll be managing is one where I’m helping to set up a sports competition for primary school children.
M: Yep, that’s always a popular placement, even though it can be tougher than you think, working with children.
W: I know, but it’s the fresh air that fascinates me. Organizing something indoors doesn’t have the same appeal, even though it might be fun.
M: Okay, just a heads up. Watch out for flying balls and equipment around the kids.
W: Yes, I’ll ask whether they provide some protective wear, and I’ll also need to make sure none of the equipment’s damaged.
M: Ah... Well, you’ll be working with schools, so the equipment will be their responsibility. However, the grounds and what goes on there will be yours.
W: Oh, I see.
Text 10
Good morning, everyone. Welcome to our special feature on a meaningful event hosted by the charity organization Save Our Street Dogs, or SOSD. On March 2nd, SOSD will hold its annual fundraising and adoption event in Urban Park. This combined event aims to raise funds for a new care center, while also helping more street dogs find loving homes. The funds raised are crucial for the construction of the SOSD care center, a major step to accommodate more dogs in need. At present, SOSD cares for 160 dogs at its shelters, and also feeds 70 homeless dogs wandering around on Jurong Island. During the event, visitors can meet several dogs seeking forever homes. These include Odin, recently rescued from an abandoned factory, and now recovering from an eye injury, Caleb, a loving dog who was left behind after his owner moved away, and Tammy, a fun companion rescued from a forest, who had surgery after suffering a severe leg injury. These three are just a few of the furry friends waiting for adopters. On-the-spot volunteer registration will also be available on March 2nd. This is a great chance to support a worthy cause. So, why not take part in the event on March 2nd and help a dog find its forever home.
