Today was an amazing day. There was a total solar eclipse in Wuhan! I woke up early because I couldn’t wait to see it!
My friends and I went down to the Yangtze River to find a good place to watch it. We took cameras, chairs, food and drink, and special glasses so we could look at it. Lots of people gathered there to watch too. Slowly, the moon moved in front of the sun. It looked like someone bit a hole in the sun! It got darker and darker as the moon slowly covered the sun.
At 9:26 a.m. the moon completely covered the sun. The sky went dark. The crowd gasped and cheered. The light of the sun made a ring of light around the moon. I took this photograph then. The total eclipse lasted for over five minutes! Then it passed and the sky started to get brighter again.
I was really inspired by the eclipse this morning. In the afternoon I spent hours reading about astronomers, eclipses, and how the planets move in our solar system. The universe is simply amazing! I also watched some videos with famous Chinese astronauts. I want to become an astronaut or astronomer someday too. The sky is the limit!

School Sports: More than Just Fun
Sports are an important part of school life. We all have PE classes every week, and there are lots of cool sports clubs to join after school. But sports aren’t just about running around and having a good time. They bring many benefits (益处) to our lives.
First, sports help us become better people. When you play team sports like basketball or soccer, you have to work together with your teammates. Also, in sports, you win some games and lose others. Losing might make you feel sad, but it teaches you to be strong and keep trying. Take David Beckham as an example. Although he was told he was too small to play, he practiced hard and became a famous player.
Second, sports are a great way to make friends. In team sports, you spend a lot of time training and playing with your teammates. You laugh together and support each other. These friendships can last a lifetime.
Finally, school sports give you a chance to find your hidden talents (隐藏天赋). Maybe you’ve never tried long jump before, but one day in PE class, you discover you’re really good at it. Usain Bolt loved football as a kid, but his teacher saw how fast he could run and encouraged him to try sprinting (短跑).
So, next time you play sports at school, remember: you’re not just playing—you’re building your future!

Molly and her classmates visited the Migratory Bird Centre last Saturday. When they got there, Evans greeted them.
Evans showed the students around the centre. Along the way, Molly saw some workers catching birds with nets. She was surprised. “Why do the workers do that to the cute birds? The birds seem poor,” she said. Evans answered, “Don’t worry! Workers catch them to put bands (带状物) on their legs. There is a number on each band. After that, they will let the birds fly away.” Molly then learned that the bands are useful when people want to know how many birds there are.
Then Molly and her classmates continued (继续) their visit. They watched many birds in the trees and listened to their songs.
Evans told them that many birds were in great danger. After hearing that, Molly wanted to help save birds. She thought about ways she could help, like planting trees and keeping the area clean.
