As a teenager, school was a real difficulty for me. I had a kind of attention problem, which meant I couldn’t focus my full attention on what I was doing, no matter how hard I tried. My classmates could focus on their tasks easily, but I found it hard to stay focused for long.
In my first reading class, Mrs. Smith asked us to read a story and write a reflection within 45 minutes. I immediately raised my hand: “Mrs. Smith, the doctor said I had attention problems. I’m afraid I can’t finish the task on time.”
She looked at me through her glasses, saying gently, “You are not different from your classmates, young man. I believe you can do it.” With her encouragement, I tried my best, but still didn’t finish when the bell rang, so I took the paper home.
In the quiet of my bedroom, the story suddenly became clear. It was about Louis Braille, a blind man who lived in a time when the blind had little chance to education. But Louis refused to give up. Instead, he invented a raised-dot reading system, opening a whole new world of knowledge to the blind.
Wasn’t I the “blind” in my class, forced to learn like the “seeing” students? With these thoughts, I became deeply interested in reading and writing. At last I finished the task in less than 40 minutes. I realized I was not different—I just needed a quieter place. If Louis could overcome his problem, why should I give up?
I didn’t expect anything when I handed in my paper to Mrs. Smith, so it was quite a surprise when it came back to me the next day with an “A” on it. At the bottom were these words: “See what you can do when you keep trying?”

Have you ever visited Xiong’an Business Service Center? Do you know anything special about this modern building group? On top of the center’s six buildings, there are about 28,400 solar panels (太阳能板). They take in energy from sunlight and turn it directly into electricity, which is a clean and smart way to power different parts of modern buildings.
These panels not only produce green power but also match the traditional Chinese style of the six buildings. If placed together closely, they would cover an area equal to 1.4 standard football fields. At present, the clean electricity they produce can provide 5% of the daily electricity used by the whole center.
Unlike traditional fuels, solar power produces almost no pollution while generating electricity. It can work as long as there is enough sunlight, so it is cheap and easy to use in our daily life. This is why it is widely chosen in Xiong’an’s green development. More solar panels will be put into use soon, so the project will generate much more electricity. It will first be used by local companies and public places, and the rest will be shared with more users around the area.
The solar project is good for both the environment and the economy (经济). It helps cut greenhouse gases (温室气体) and lower daily electricity costs for companies. The project can produce nearly 3.5 million kWh of electricity every year, helping avoid about 3,000 tons of greenhouse gases yearly.
Now more green projects will be started, such as energy-saving lighting and green heating systems. With these efforts, Xiong’an is becoming a modern green city that sets a good example for city development in the future.
根据材料内容选择最佳答案。
31.What makes solar panels a clean way to produce power?
A. They use wind to make electricity. B. They turn sunlight into electricity.
C. They produce no greenhouse gases at all. D. They can work without any other help.
32.What can we infer from the numbers about the solar project?
A. It produces more electricity than needed. B. It makes a big difference to the environment.
C. It covers more than two football fields. D. It provides half of the center’s electricity.
33.How does the writer organize the information to explain the topic?
A. By introducing a green project, its uses and influences.
B. By listing different kinds of clean energy in order.
C. By telling a story of building Xiong’an New Area.
D. By showing problems and then giving solutions.
34.What is Paragraph 3 mainly about?
A. How the solar electricity will be used.
B. When more solar panels will be fixed.
C. Why traditional energy is not welcome.
D. What problems the center has met.
35.What is the writer’s main purpose of writing the text?
A. To advise people to use less electricity.
B. To introduce green development in Xiong’an.
C. To teach people to fix solar panels themselves.
D. To compare solar energy with other energy.

Kite-flying is a beautiful tradition 69 teaches us about patience and creativity. When I was younger, my grandpa taught me how to make a simple kite from bamboo sticks and paper. It took me a long time to make one, but when it finally flew high, it felt like a huge success. It’s also 70 great activity to do with family and friends. We should treasure traditions like this because they help us understand our culture better.
