Do you enjoy playing video games? Have you ever thought about what it would be like to design them for a living? Today, let’s talk about Mitu Khandaker’s cool job. Mitu Khandaker is a game developer, someone who codes (编程序) and designs games. And she also teaches games.
Being a game developer is like wearing a lot of different hats at once. One minute, she might be fixing some code. Another minute, she might be solving a design problem, or creating art. The other part of the job is working with people. It’s very collaborative (合作的).
The best game designers are people who have a wide range of interests, because you want to bring those into games. So yes, you might love playing games. But you might also be someone who loves painting or writing stories, or making music, or even just listening to music. For example, Mitu Khandaker loves listening to hip-hop. Whatever your interests are, there is a space for that in games to tell these amazing new stories.
If you want to be a game designer, Mitu Khandaker would say follow your passion and believe in yourself. If you like writing stories, or you like drawing or painting or designing board games—whatever it is—there is a place for you in games. Don’t take no for an answer. That’s how she got to where she is.
If you enjoy learning about more interesting jobs, find more on Your Hot Job, a career-focused website for kids.

For young people who grow up in villages, a job in the city sounds good. But Ning Fenfang, 34, left the big city to be a farmer.
In 2017, she left her job in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, and went back to her hometown of Cili County in Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province. At that time, much of the farmland there was deserted. Seeing this, Ning decided to be a farmer. She started with growing rice and oilseed rape (油菜) in 2020. She rented the land and hired villagers to work it.
Ning now farms more than 66.7 hectares of land. More than 300 housewives have worked part-time on her land, each making more than 10,000 yuan per year.
“It’s never easy,” said Ning. At first, many people didn’t understand her decision. Farming is often seen as an “unsuitable” job for both the post-90s generation and women in general. Also, she lacked enough farming knowledge. However, Ning loved farming.
“When you’re tired, you can stop and rest and do what you want to do. Every day, you can embrace nature, which is the poetry and far afield (诗和远方) that many people hope for,” Ning told the People’s Courts News and Communication Agency.
Ning has tried to turn farming into a “fashionable” job. Rather than depending on farmers, she advises mechanized (机械化) farming, which means using high-tech machines. She also plans to provide children living in cities with a chance to experience farming.

Have you ever heard people describe themselves as an “I” or an “E” person? This comes from a popular personality test called the MBTI, which has been a hot topic online recently. 41
All the results have four letters that represent different types of personality. “I” and “E” are the first letters. 42 It’s common to think people are either one type or the other, but personality is not always that simple. For example, an “I” person can become quite outgoing and share their true thoughts and feelings when they are with close friends. I’m one of these kinds of people. When I stay with my friends, I talk with them to show I’m easygoing. But honestly, I like being alone and staying quiet.
43 It is mostly for fun. Everyone’s personality is different. Don’t let the test tell you who you are. I used to be very curious about my friends’ MBTI results. I would get upset if their results didn’t match the way I saw them.
I think everyone might have a “personality stamp”. For example, “P” people don’t like to make plans while “J” people are planners. My sister is a “P” person and she seldom plans. 44 “I thought you were a “P” person,” I said to her. “Why should I follow what my personality test tells me?” she answered. It was then that I realized that I’d taken the result too seriously.
The four letters cannot describe everything about a person. 45
A.Why not just accept your test and be yourself?
B.This kind of feeling can sometimes bring stress to people.
C.And no one should live according to what four letters tell you.
D.However, I think we shouldn’t be serious about the MBTI result.
E.“I” stands for introverted (内向) while “E” means extroverted (外向).
F.But one day, she was excitedly making a day-to-day travel plan for the holiday.
G.Many young people are using it to understand themselves and their friends better.
【答案】41.G 42.E 43.D 44.F 45.C
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了MBTI性格测试及其局限性,并提醒人们不要过于依赖测试结果来定义自己或他人。
41.根据“Have you ever heard people describe themselves as an ‘I’ or an ‘E’ person? This comes from a popular personality test called the MBTI, which has been a hot topic online recently.”
42.根据“ ‘I’ and ‘E’ are the first letters.”

Did you enjoy playing in the dirt when you were a kid? Pamela Conrad did. Growing up on a farm, she loved making little gardens for baby animals. Today, she still does the same thing-but on a much larger scale. She works as a landscape architect.
So,what does a landscape architect do? Think of it this way: A regular architect designs the building you live in; a landscape architect designs everything outside of it. They plan outdoor spaces like parks, plazas and schoolyards. It’s not just about planting flowers. It’s about carefully planning every detail, like where to put paths for walking and where to grow trees for shade.
Pamela loved nature when she was little. But she didn’t know this could be a job until she was 12 years old. One day, a neighbor showed her a copy of Landscape Architecture magazine. The neighbor said,”You can go to college for this. “ And that changed her life.
Now, Pamela has a big goal. She wants to use her designs to fight climate change and protect the environment. Her aim is to reduce the carbon footprint of her projects. For example, she designs parks with many trees in specific spots. These trees absorb carbon dioxide(二氧化碳)from the air. She also redesigns waterfronts to stop floods caused by rising sea levels. “I feel lucky that I can help save the world,” Pamela says.
If you want to follow in her footsteps, you can start small. Pamela suggests taking classes in biology and art. You can even try planting in your neighborhood to help bees and birds. As Pamela proves, love for nature can turn into a career that saves the world.
注:每题答案不超过6个词。

Amy Lee made a surprising choice a year ago—she chose to be a car mechanic.
From a young age, Amy has loved playing with cars. She’s always interested in taking them apart. It is fun to see how they work. So it is an easy decision for her. In many people’s eyes, this is an unusual choice for girls. The work may make them dirty and tired, which is a challenge. At first her parents were unhappy with that. They would rather Amy worked for the family business. People love the bread and cakes their family make. But Amy didn’t want to join the trade.
Amy did lots of research into the job. She also worked as a part-time mechanic for a couple of months. Her parents talked to her boss. They knew she was serious. They understood her love for the work, so they decided to support her.
Now Amy has been in the car mechanic school for a year. “Do you find studying car repair difficult?” Many people ask Amy. And her answer is: “Yes and no. On one hand, I have to use computers and operate other high-tech machines. I have to learn a lot about physics and chemistry. On the other hand, I find the subjects interesting. It’s worth the effort.”
Recently Amy won first prize in a car repair competition. She was the first woman to enter the competition and win! “Luckily, the prize proves my choice wasn’t made in a rush.

Ning has tried to turn farming into a “fashionable” job. Rather than depending on farmers, she advises mechanized (机械化) farming, which means using high-tech machines. She also plans to provide children living in cities with a chance to experience farming.
Ning feels responsible for farmers. Recently she has suggested that the agricultural insurance (农业保险) plans should include greenhouses, as freezing rain hit her hometown and caused losses to farmers in the winter of 2023.
