专题03 阅读理解(记叙文)
Passage 1
(2025八年级下·广西贵港·期末)Do you have a subject that you can’t find a proper way to learn? I used to have one. It was math. It was hard for me to remember so many formulas (公式) and rules.
But everything changed after an experience. It was a math project that our teacher gave to us. We had to use math to work out a real-life problem. My group chose to study how much water we could save by taking a shorter shower. We had to work out the amount (数量) of water and compare the results of many experiments.
That project made me realize that math was not just about numbers and symbols. And I could learn math in a different way. Instead of simply remembering formulas, I could learn math by another way, that is, to connect (联系) it with real life.
One day, my mom wanted to buy something online, but there were many different kinds of ways to offer discounts (折扣). She couldn’t make a decision because she didn’t know which one was the cheapest. It was my turn to use my math skills. After a while, I got the result and my mother thanked me for my help.
I think everyone should find his or her own way of learning. There is no exact learning way. So don’t be afraid to create new ways. Find your own way of learning and enjoy the journey.

The lorry’s a bit like a house on wheels (轮子), but it has less space. However, we have everything we need for our journey. It’s not very fast. That is OK – we’re not in a hurry.
Our schoolbooks are the same as the ones back home, but my mum gives us lessons, and then sends our work to teachers on the Internet. My favourite way of learning, however, is by going on special journeys that my parents plan. We’ve seen so many wonderful places, people and animals.
In September, we went camping in the Kalahari Desert (卡拉哈里沙漠). We learned lots about the night sky. The Kalahari’s not like other deserts because it gets such a lot of rain—some parts of it look really green. We had a guide, and he told us about all the lovely animals that live there.
In November, we went on a whale-watching (鲸) tour in South Africa and saw six whales. We said hello to them. One even swam under our boat. That was really thrilling. I knew whales were big, but I couldn’t believe they were so large.
In December, we drove to Boulders Beach in South Africa. There are thousands of African penguins (企鹅) on the beach. These cute black and white birds can swim, but cannot fly. Many of the visitors to the beach enjoyed seeing their funny walk, but I was especially interested in how clever they were at keeping their babies safe.

(2025八年级下·广西南宁·期末)Usually if a radio show puts you to sleep, it seems a bad programme. But for John Watson, sleeping listeners are what he’s hoping for. As a young man, Mr Watson was not feeling well. He had a heart problem. Even worse, he couldn’t sleep because he was so sensitive (敏感的) to sound. He tried many ways to relax, but they didn’t work.
▲ Mr Watson then found some peaceful music CDs, but he soon got tired of hearing the same songs over and over again. He found some peaceful music stations on the Internet. They were free. But there was a problem. Just as he was falling asleep, the peaceful music would get interrupted—either by an ad (广告) or the host. That means the music wouldn’t play all the time and Mr Watson would wake up again.
Mr Watson then decided to make his own Internet radio station. In 2014, Mr Watson’s peaceful music station, Sleep Radio, went live on the Internet. Every week he gets four or five CDs from musicians who make peaceful music. They send him their music because they want him to play their music on the air. The station has visitors from all over the world. People have even listened to his programme from Africa. Because there are no ads, Mr Watson pays for most of the cost himself.

When I put them on, I suddenly found myself standing in a busy place by the side of the sea with many ships and people in old-style clothes. It was the starting point of the Sea Silk Road over 2000 years ago.

We used simple English, “Two boxes of silk for one box of spices?” The trader nodded, and everyone laughed. Next, we visited a workshop where people made big drums. “These drums are the symbol of Guangxi culture. They are important for our festivals.” Li said.
