根据空后列举的“the Treasure Gallery, the Jingren Palace and the Shoukang Palace”可知,这些都是具体的宫殿场所。

Making a simple compass is a fun experiment. You can even make it at home.
You’ll need:·A needle(缝衣针)
·A magnet(磁铁)
·A cup of water
·A piece of wood(Avoid using hard or heavy wood, or your needle won’t pass through it or won’t float(漂浮) on the water surface.)
Steps:
1. Rub(摩擦) the pointed end of the needle along the magnet in one direction for about a minute.
2. Ask an adult to help you push the needle through the wood.
3. Place your “compass” into the cup of water. It should float in the centre of the cup. One end of the needle will always point north!
Tip: Use a real compass to see if your compass works. If it doesn’t, rub the needle with the magnet a little longer and try again.
The science behind it: Rubbing the needle with a magnet turns the needle into a small magnet!
The Earth is also like a big magnet, with a north end and a south end. Your magnetized needle is
guided by the Earth’s magnetic pull, so one end always points north.
45.What kind of wood is suitable for the experiment?
A.Big and heavy. B.Hard and thick. C.Light and soft. D.Light and round.
46.Which of the following shows the correct order of making a compass?

(Rub the needle with a magnet),让钢针获得磁性,这是指南针能指向的核心前提;第二步是将磁化的钢针穿入木头(Push the needle through the wood),让钢针能借助木头浮在水面;第三步是把组装好的装置放入水杯(Put the “compass” into the cup of water),使其能自由转动;最后一步是用真实指南针验证效果(Check with a real compass),确认它能正确指向北方。
47.根据实验提示中的说明,当指南针无法正常工作时,解决方法是“rub the needle with the magnet a little longer and try again”,即把钢针和磁铁摩擦的时间延长,让钢针获得足够的磁性。

One morning, I stopped at my favourite restaurant to get something to eat and got comfortable at a small table. Shortly after, I noticed four young people sitting at a table near me. After simply greeting each other and ordering, they all looked at their phones and continued to do so until their orders arrived. After photographing their food, they ate, continuing to look at their phones. I was wondering why they came here to eat together. They were phubbing, a very common problem these days.
You may not know the word “phubbing”, but this kind of act is not strange to you. In fact, 32% of people report that they are phubbed two or three times a day.
Do you have a conversation on your phone while talking to another person face to face? Do you scroll (上下滑动) through your phone while eating with someone for fear of missing out? If your answer is yes to either of them, you might be a “phubber”.
The writer of The Psychology of Phubbing did a survey and found that the influence of phubbing on relationships can be very harmful. For example, children felt that parents who phubbed them didn’t care about them. This led to a feeling of being left out. Also, partners who were phubbed might be less satisfied with the relationship because of jealousy (嫉妒) and worries.
Phubbing is a learned act, so unlearning it is possible. Start by accepting the problem. Set a time limit (限制) for not using your phone. Create areas where phones are off-limits.
Don’t let the modern technology which is designed to bring people together separate you from others.
48.Why was the writer curious about the four young people eating together?
A.Because they liked different kinds of food. B.Because they seldom communicated.
C.Because they just simply greeted each other. D.Because they photographed their food.
49.What does the underlined word “phubbing” mean in Paragraph 1?
A.Using a phone to order food in a restaurant. B.Refusing to use phones when meeting people.
C.Chatting with others only by using their phones. D.Focusing too much on phones while being with others.
50.The writer gives examples to show ________ in Paragraph 4.
A.what ways can help stop phubbing B.how common phubbing is in daily life
C.how phubbing harms people’s connection D.which age group is most influenced by phubbing
51.What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A.Parents should set limits for children’s phone use.
B.Breaking the habit of phubbing requires expert’s help.
C.Proper use of technology helps keep people connected.
D.Modern technology should be refused to stop phubbing.
48.第一段描述四个年轻人“After simply greeting each other and ordering, they all looked at their phones and continued to do so until their orders arrived.” 作者因此感到好奇:“I was wondering why they came here to eat together.”
结合第二段“32% of people report that they are phubbed two or three times a day”以及第三段对“phubber”的描述(一边打电话一边面对面聊天、吃饭时刷手机),可知“phubbing”指的是与他人在一起时过度关注手机的行为。
51.最后一段指出:“Don’t let the modern technology which is designed to bring people together separate you from others.”

Journey to the Centre of the Earth is about the many dangers and strange creatures (生物) Professor Otto Lidenbrock, his nephew Axel and their guide Hans meet on their way to the centre of the Earth. Axel is the one who tells the story. In Chapter 14, they find the entrance to the Earth’s centre.
An Extract from Journey to the Centre of the Earth by Jules Verne
We reached the top of the volcano (火山) before sunrise. I leaned (俯身) over the edge of the big hole and looked down. I felt dizzy and my legs shook. I wasn’t used to this feeling and I didn’t know what to do. I was about to fall in when I felt a firm hand holding me back. It was our guide, Hans.
My uncle Professor Lidenbrock took out a rope. He threw one end of it down the big hole and tied the other end to a large rock. “Now, Axel,” he said, “let’s put our most fragile (易碎的) and important things into our backpacks.”
“But,” I exclaimed, “what about our clothes, the ropes and the ladders?”
“They’ll go down themselves!”
“How?” I asked.
“Like this!” I was used to my uncle’s impatience. He liked to do things quickly. He put all the non-fragile things into a bag and simply threw it down the hole.
I heard the noise of falling stones as the bag fell down the hole. My uncle leaned over the big hole to watch the bag go down with a smile. Then he turned to me.
“Now then,” he cried, “it’s our turn!”
“We might stay alive if we were mountain goats…” I thought to myself nervously.
52.Journey to the Centre of the Earth is probably a/an ______.
A.science article B.adventure novel C.travel diary D.history textbook
53.How did Professor Lidenbrock send the non-fragile items down?
A.He carried them down carefully.
B.He asked Hans to carry them.
C.He threw them down the hole in a bag.
D.He left them at the top of the volcano.
54.What was Professor Lidenbrock like when solving problems?
A.He spent hours studying maps carefully.
B.He carefully checked every small detail.
C.He made quick decisions and acted at once.
D.He let Hans decide almost everything.
55.Please match each sentence with the most suitable character.
i) ____________________ ii) _____________________ iii) _____________________
A.Professor Lidenbrock; Axel; Hans B.Axel; Hans; Professor Lidenbrock
C.Hans; Axel; Professor Lidenbrock D.Professor Lidenbrock; Hans; Axel
【答案】52.B 53.C 54.C 55.A
53.第六段提到“He put all the non-fragile things into a bag and simply threw it down the hole.”,可知是把东西放进包里放下去的。
54.第六段提到“He liked to do things quickly”,可知教授做事果断、不拖沓。
55.i)“Come on, everyone! Time to go into the big hole!”:语气急切、催促大家行动,符合李登布罗克教授的性格,对应Professor Lidenbrock;ii) “Are you sure it’s safe?”:充满担忧和不确定,是阿克塞尔的内心想法,对应Axel;iii) “Be careful! Don’t stand too close to the edge!”:是汉斯拉住阿克塞尔时的提醒,符合向导的沉稳,对应Hans。

One of the greatest killers in the Western world is heart disease. The death rate from the disease has been increasing at an alarming speed for the past thirty years. Today in Britain, for example, about four hundred people a day die of heart disease. Medical experts know that people can reduce their chances of getting heart disease by exercising regularly, by not smoking, by changing their diets, and by paying more attention to reducing stress in their work.
However, Western health-care systems are still not paying enough attention to the prevention of the disease. There is a need for more programs to educate the public about the causes and prevention of heart disease. Instead of supporting such programs, however, the U.S. health-care system is spending large sums of money on the surgical (外科的) treatment of the disease after it develops. This emphasis (强调) on treatment clearly has something to do with the technological advances that have taken place in the past ten to fifteen years. In this time, modern technology has enabled doctors to develop new surgical techniques. Many operations that were considered impossible or too risky a few years ago are now performed every day in U.S. hospitals. The result has been a huge increase in heart surgery.
Although there is no doubt that heart surgery can help a large number of people, some people point out that the emphasis on the surgical treatment of the disease has three clear disadvantages. First, it attracts interest and money away from the question of prevention. Second, it causes the costs of general hospital care to rise. After hospitals buy the expensive equipment that is necessary for modern heart surgery, they must try to recover the money they have spent. To do this, they raise costs for all their patients, not just those patients whose treatment requires the equipment. The third disadvantage is that doctors are encouraged to perform surgery even on patients for whom an operation is unnecessary—because the equipment and expert skills are there. A government office recently stated that major heart surgery was often performed even though its chances of success were low. In one type of heart surgery, for example, only 15 percent of patients improved their conditions after the surgery. However, more than 100,000 of these operations are performed in the United States every year.
56.What effect has modern technology had on medicine?
A.It has reduced the costs of medical treatment.
B.It hasn’t helped save any patients.
C.It has encouraged doctors to do more heart surgery.
D.It has helped educate people about the prevention of heart disease.
57.What does the underlined word “recover” in paragraph 3 mean?
A.Increase. B.Appear. C.Get back. D.Absorb (吸收).
58.The author would agree that ________.
A.more money should be spent on the prevention of heart disease
B.heart surgery has helped most patients improve their conditions
C.modern technology has made heart surgery more risky than before
D.the public have known a great deal about the causes of heart disease
59.Which would be the best title for the passage?

57.第三段指出:“After hospitals buy the expensive equipment... they must try to recover the money they have spent.”
58.第二段“Western health-care systems are still not paying enough attention to the prevention of the disease”以及第三段指出手术治疗转移了预防的注意力和资金,可知作者赞同应更多地投资于心脏病的预防。

Libraries around the world hold books that are hundreds of years old. But will we be able to read today’s digital books in the future? Librarians are worried. We already cannot open some computer files (文件) from just 20 or 25 years ago. Could our digital works disappear into a “digital black hole”?
Technology changes very quickly. Old ways of saving information become outdated. For example, many people once used floppy disks (软盘), but now few computers can read them.Millions of songs were saved on CDs, but most old players no longer work. Websites also change or close, and the information on them can be lost forever.
Books, however, are easy to keep. We don’t need special tools to read them. If stored in a dry, safe place, they can last a very long time. For example, Li Shizhen’s great medical book Ben Cao Gang Mu came out in 1593. Amazingly, three copies from the first printing still survive today.
Because of this, some experts still consider printed books a safe way to store information. In 2014, a group even raised money to print a famous online encyclopedia into 1,000 books. This ensures the knowledge is saved, even if digital technology fails.
For now, printed copies seem the safest way to keep information. Perhaps future technology will solve the problem of the digital black hole. Only time will tell.
65.How many outdated ways of saving information are mentioned?
66.When did the book Ben: Cao Gang Mu come out?
67.What do experts consider a safe way to store information?
68.Do you think printed books are the only way to store information safely? Write 30 words or more.
65.Three. 66.In 1593. 67.Printed books. 68. No, I don’t think so. Although printed books are safe now, technology is developing fast. In the future, new digital ways might be found to solve the problem of the digital black hole. We should keep trying.

When we wake up feeling sleepy and with dark circles (黑眼圈) under eyes, many of us often think: “I’m going to bed earlier tomorrow!” But we may just break our promise in the end. This situation is called bedtime procrastination (拖延症) . Many people don’t take bedtime procrastination seriously, but some experts said, “Our sleeping habits are really important for our health.”
“This often happens because many people spend much time on the phone or computer. They have fun when doing different things on their electronic products, and find it difficult to turn them off. And it happens also because people can’t control their body clock,” said some doctors. A group of health experts did a study about bedtime procrastination. 2,400 people took part in it. To know what the body clock does to sleep, some experts studied the sleeping habits of 108 people.
According to the study, 65% of the people in the first group said they didn’t sleep at the same time every day staying up at least twice a week. The experts found that those sleeping late will more possibly go to bed later than those getting up early every morning. Also, many people with bedtime procrastination will go to bed late at the very beginning of the weekday, even though they have to get up early for work. This special body clock plays a part in making them go to bed late.
Bedtime procrastination is failing to keep the promise of going to bed earlier. However, many don’t think going to bed late 74 . There are three main reasons for bedtime procrastination : unchangeable bad habits; electronic products 75 that they can’t put them down; and uncontrollable body clocks.
①Check with a real compass. ②Put the“compass” into the cup of water.
③Rub the needle with a magnet. ④Push the needle through the wood.
A.④→②→③→① B.③→④→②→①
C.④→③→②→① D.③→②→④→①
47.What can you do if your compass fails to work?
A.Use a bigger piece of wood. B.Put more water into the cup.
C.Use a different kind of magnet. D.Rub the needle for a little longer.
