Once there was a merchant who had fine silk and rugs to sell. He wished to send his goods to a city on the other side of the desert.
Abdul, the merchant, owned a large caravan of camels, and he employed many men. For many days, Abdul and his men had been preparing for the journey because of the boundless desert with hot sand and the grass out of sight for miles. It required many camels to carry the merchant’s goods, tents, bottles of water, firewood, bags of rice and some tools.
At last, the caravan was ready for the journey. The sun shone steadily, making the sand so hot that no one could walk upon it in the daytime. So Abdul and his men travelled all night. One man was the pilot. He rode ahead because he knew the stars, and he could guide the caravan by them.
Adversity and Courage
They travelled night after night, resting during the heat of the day. Unfortunately, when the caravan started another evening, the pilot led the way as usual, but after a while, weary with many nights of watching, he fell asleep.
All night long the caravan travelled. At daybreak the pilot awoke and looked at the last star fading in the morning light. “Halt!” he called. “The camels must have turned while I slept. We are at the place from which we started yesterday.” Even worse, another man shouted, “The man with the camel carrying the rest water and firewood, who is walking at the end of our group, is gone!”
There was no water to drink. There was no firewood to cook the food. The men lay down with despair, “We are lost!”
Paragraph 1:
It seemed that only one person remained positive.

(No water, no firewood—only endless sand stretching before them)。
(As the sun climbed higher, Abdul’s shadow shrank to his feet)。
(But despair faded when he noticed a faint green tint beneath the sand)。
情感线:绝望(slump to the ground, hollow eyes)→怀疑(“Is that even possible?”)→希望(a glimmer in his eyes)→坚定(clench fists and dig faster)。
"The scorching sun beat down upon them, a relentless reminder of their perilous situation."(炙热的太阳灼烤着他们,无时无刻不在提醒他们处境危险。)
"Without a drop of water left, the future seemed bleak and unforgiving."(没有一滴水,未来显得黯淡而严酷。)
"While others succumbed to despair, Abdul refused to let hope die."(当其他人都陷入绝望时,阿卜杜勒拒绝让希望泯灭。)
"His voice, calm yet firm, cut through the panic."(他平静而坚定的声音,穿透了恐慌。)
"Drawing upon his years of experience, he proposed a plan."(凭借他多年的经验,他提出了一个计划。)
"Just as hope began to wane, a cry rang out."(就在希望开始消退时,一声呼喊响起。)
"Miraculously, their efforts were rewarded."(奇迹般地,他们的努力得到了回报。)
"It was a sight that brought immediate relief to the weary travelers."(这一幕让疲惫的旅人们立刻感到了宽慰。)
"The crisis had not been in vain; it had forged a stronger bond between them."(这场危机并非没有价值;它锻造了彼此间更牢固的纽带。)
"They had faced the abyss and, through unity and resilience, stepped back from it."(他们曾面对深渊,并通过团结和韧性,从深渊边缘退了回来。)
Paragraph 1:
It seemed that only one person remained positive.Abdul calmly stood and addressed his men. "Desert wisdom tells us to observe," he said, pointing at the camels growing restless. "They smell water nearby." He organized the men to dig where desert plants grew thickest. Just as importantly, he reminded them that their missing companion was an experienced guide who would surely follow their tracks. Hope slowly returned to the men as they began working together, their fear replaced by purposeful action under Abdul's steady leadership.
Paragraph 2:
A shout of joy burst from the lips of the men.First, their digging revealed damp soil that soon produced a precious trickle of water. Then, as if answering their hopes, the missing man appeared over a dune with the supply camel. Laughter and relief filled the air as waterskins were refilled and cooking fires lit. Abdul smiled, watching his men regain their spirit. They had faced despair and overcome it through cooperation and wisdom, ready to continue their journey with renewed confidence.
Possible version 1
Paragraph 1:
It seemed that only one person remained positive. It's Abdul, who thought, “If we sit around with despair, all will be lost. I must find water.” He started watching the ground closely. Hours later, a tuft of grass was finally seen. He ran back calling, “Bring the tools. Come quickly!” The pilot ran with him to where the grass was growing. They began to dig, and soon they struck a rock. Abdul put his ear close to the rock. “Water!” he cried, “I hear water running!”
Paragraph 2:
A shout of joy burst from the lips of the men. In excitement, they struck the rock again and again. At last, the rock broke and water flowed out. They drank the water eagerly, and afterwards led the camels to the spring. In the evening, the men continued on their journey. On the way, they accidentally found the man and the camel that were lost because they were too tired to follow. Finally, they reached the city the very next day.
