Passage 1
(24-25高二下·福州三中·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
When my daughters reached the third and fourth grades, I occasionally allowed them to walk to and from school alone, if the weather permitted. One warm spring day, a small friend followed them home after school. This friend was different from any other friends they had brought home. With a yellowish coat and tiny brown spots dropped across her nose, she was the cutest puppy I had ever seen. When my husband got home that evening, she ran to him right away and after dinner climbed into his lap to watch TV. By now the girls were both begging me to keep her.
She had no collar (颈圈) or identifying marks of any sort. I didn’t know what to do. I thought about running an ad in the lost-and-found but I really didn’t want to. It would break the kids’ hearts if someone should show up. Resides, her owners should have watched her more closely. I tried to find seemingly logical reasons to explain my behavior.
By the end of the week, she was part of our family. We had named the puppy Molly. She was very intelligent and good with the girls. This was a good idea, I thought. It was time for the girls to take responsibility for another life, so they would learn the nurturing skills they’d need if they decided to become mommies when they grew up.
The following week, something told me to check the lost-and-found section in the local paper. One particular ad jumped out at me and my heart pounded with fear at what I read. Someone was asking for the return of a lost beagle puppy near our grade school. They sounded desperate. My hand shook. I knew in my heart I had to call that number and see if our Molly was the puppy they were desperately seeking.

【答案】
Instead, I pretended I hadn’t seen the ad. I didn’t want to spoil the perfect days. Molly brought us so much joy and laughter with her playful and adorable traits. The girls took their responsibility as pet owners seriously, ensuring that the cute creature had plenty of food, water, and toys. But at the sight of the heartwarming scene where my daughters were happily playing with the puppy, I couldn’t bear the thought of causing someone else pain and heartache just because of my sheer selfishness and avoidance. After days of struggle, I finally made up my mind and dialed the number in the ad to arrange a meeting with the owners.
The girls were overwhelmingly stricken when I told them the whole story. But in the end, they decided to go with me. The moment Molly met the family, she sprinted towards the couple, who were obviously overcome with the joy and touch of regaining. They expressed deep gratitude for our taking care of their “beloved treasure”. It was a bittersweet moment as we waved goodbyes. As we walked away, tears streamed down the girls’ faces, and I gave them a hug and wiped away their tears. “I know it is hard, but you make it.” I was so proud of them for their responsibility, empathy, and the ability to make the right choice even when it was difficult. ”

Passage 1
(24-25高二下·福州福九联盟·期末)
阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文。
“Little boy, will you help an old man up the hill with his load?” These words were spoken by an old gray-headed man, who was drawing a hand-cart with a bag of corn in it.
“I can’t. I am in a hurry,” said Hanson, who was hurrying to get to the playground, so that he might play with the boys before the morning class began.
The old man sat down on a stone at the foot of the hill to rest himself and gather strength for the ascent (上坡). He stared after Hanson, and sighed as he thought of the days of his youth, now far back in the past. Tears were beginning to gather in his eyes, when another little boy, Jack, who was Hanson’s classmate and good friend, came up to him and said, “Shall I help you up the hill with your load?”
The old man brushed his eyes with the sleeve of his coat, and replied, “I shall be very glad to have your help.” He then stood up, took the handle of his cart, and pulled with all his strength, with Jack pushing behind.
When they reached the top of the hill, Jack discovered a hole in the bag on the under side, from which the corn was dropping out. Putting forth all his strength, he turned the bag, so that there might be no further loss of corn.
“Thank you very much,” said the old man, as Jack set out upon a run for his school, “and may God reward you for your kindness.” But Jack was out of hearing before the old’s last words were spoken.
When Jack reached the school, he was about ten minutes late, for which he received a mark (违纪记录). This was a very unusual thing for him, as he stood out among the students in his class for never being late. If he had told the reason for his being late to Miss White, the head teacher, he would have been forgiven; but he thought it would look a little like boasting (吹嘘,夸耀) to do so. So he took the mark without saying a word.

【答案】
Curious, Hanson approached Jack when the school was over. Wondering why Jack was late for school, Hanson couldn’t help asking him. “I was helping an old gray-headed man push his cart,” responded Jack. Incredibly shocked, Hanson couldn’t resist recalling what he had seen and done this morning, lost in thought. A sense of shame seized him, his head lowered and face reddening. Having waved goodbye to each other, Hanson rushed to find Miss White without thinking twice and exposed the truth.
Knowing the truth from Hanson, Miss White resolved to do something the next morning. When Jack entered his classroom without being late as usual the next morning, he was surprised to find there was a bunch of flowers on his desk. After a while, in came Miss White, who shared Jack’s good deeds with the whole class. Lasting applause lingered around the classroom and Jack was overwhelmed with great joy. Undoubtedly, a seed of kindness was deeply sowed in the heart of everyone present, particularly Hanson.

When my 10-year-old brother, Ryan, announced he would be the host at the school concert, I did my best to sound excited. “I can’t wait to see it,” I said. The theme was Songs From Every Continent, and the kids would dress up like animals.
“I’m going to have my own microphone and everything” Ryan yelled. He couldn’t wait for the concert to begin, but for me, it was challenging. Their school concerts were long, the chairs were uncomfortable, and I knew Ryan didn’t need me there for moral support. Still, it was my sisterly duty to attend. Thankfully, Ryan couldn’t read my mind.
Before the concert even started, I already wanted to run away. “God, help me get through this,” I begged. The lights dimmed (变暗). Ryan took the stage, wearing what looked like a kangaroo. He picked up his microphone and said with a perfect accent, “Evening, mates.” He commented on the performances without a bit of nerves, just as I knew he would be. The part seemed perfect for him. No surprise there, but we were only halfway through the program!
“Let’s clap for the next group,” Ryan said. A class of younger students stepped up to the stage, and it took a while for them to gather. I shifted in my seat, barely standing the concert any more. Then one student, called Michael, wearing monkey ears, shyly made his way to the standing microphone. I saw his lips move, but whatever he said had come out as a whisper.
The boy looked confused. He tried again, but it was no use. Something was wrong with the microphone The boy hung his head, his monkey ears down- turned, and I wondered if he was crying. Everyone around me looked uncomfortable for the boy, but no one knew what to do. It never occurred to me that the incident would show me more about Ryan.

“It’s okay, Michael,” a voice rang out. To my surprise, it was Ryan speaking confidently through the microphone. He moved quickly to the trembling boy’s side, calling him “a brave little monkey” and comforting him gently. Then Ryan handed his microphone to Michael and gave him a thumb-up. Michael collected himself. Taking a deep breath, he signaled his classmates to restart their song. With the last note fading away, cheers erupted instantly, washing away the earlier tension. Something changed secretly.
I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the concert. No longer shifting about in the chair, I became absorbed in every performance. When looking at Ryan, I saw a more capable and confident boy on the stage. The concert flowed smoothly afterward. When Ryan finally announced the final, I rushed to the backstage with joyful excitement. I hugged him tightly, telling him I was so proud for his quick reaction and compassion. What a wonderful night!

Teamwork Lights the Way
For weeks, the class buzzed with excitement for the handmade craft show. Each group needed a unique, good-looking and useful craft for the school art fair. Lily teamed up with decisive Sophia and Jake who had an eye for details. Thrilled yet a bit nervous about perfection, they started working.
Their first get-together was in the sun-filled art room. Sophia’s eyes sparkled as she proposed, “What if we make a lamp from plastic bottles?” Jake was attracted by the idea but voiced a concern, “Sounds amazing, yet dealing with lights and ensuring a steady structure? We’re complete beginners at that.” Lily picked up one of the empty bottles and examined it. She said that those could work, adding that they would need a solid base and safe battery-powered LED lights.
Over the next days, they worked day in and day out. They referred to books, searched for online advice, and gathered supplies: bottles, a glue gun, wires, and LED lights. However, building the lamp was tougher than they expected. There were moments when they thought they wouldn’t finish in time for the presentation. As the fair neared, late nights heightened their deadline anxiety.
The night before the fair, exhausted yet hopeful, they readied for the final test. Sophia held her breath as Lily inserted the batteries. The LED lights lit up, painting the walls with gentle, liquid light. Then a loud BANG! The lamp crashed onto the table. “No! What’s wrong?” Lily cried, rushing over. Jake knelt, discovering a thin crack (裂缝) in the base, “This base wasn’t thick enough to bear the weight.” Their painstaking creation lay in ruins. With dawn approaching, disappointment washed over them.
Sophia stared at the broken pieces for a moment. Then she grabbed the glue gun, her voice firm. “We’ve put in far too much effort to give up now.” she declared. Her words pulled Lily and Jake out of their hopelessness.

Meanwhile, Lily crouched down carefully to inspect the broken lamp using orc bottles they could find, they rebuilt the base, strengthening every joint with layers of glue. Sophia adjusted the LED lights to distribute the weight evenly. Jake, with his steady hands, reconnected the wires. As the sun peeked through the windows, their lamp stood whole again, looking even more beautiful.
The next day the students were excited as each team presented their crafts. When it was their turn, Lily, Jake and Sophia exchange d a confident glance, carrying their lamp to the front. As the light sprang to life with a soft glow, it cast delicate shadows across the room. The audience gasped in admiration, then thunderous applause swept over the fair. Their hard work paid off, and they truly understood that in teamwork, each person’s strength combined could turn failure into success. The lamp wasn’t just a craft--it was a symbol of their united efforts.

(24-25高二下·福建福州八县市协作校·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
As far as I can remember, my father was a man of few words, always locked in his study. He never mentioned his life before becoming “Dad”. He never talked about it. The only hint (暗示) of his past was a locked drawer in the old desk in his study. As a child, I tried to open the lock once. But all I got was a warning: “Some things stay put for a reason.” After that, I stopped asking questions.
Years later, as I grew up, my father’s health was not as good as before. I noticed him walking slower and spending long hours sitting silently in the study. One day, the hospital called. It was lung cancer. I moved home from the company dormitory. We settled into an awkward routine — I took care of him and he pretended not to be in pain.
One day, while dusting the study, I found an old key beneath a drawer. My hands froze. Curiously, I
unlocked the drawer. Inside was a single item: a handbound sketchbook (素描簿), its cover marked with faded initials — L.B., which is like the pen name of the artist in my impression.
I opened it immediately. Page after page showed cartoon-style drawings-two boys in school uniforms, one with messy hair, the other with glasses, laughing and racing. On the last page, a note was written: “For Leo-Ben”.
I wondered who Ben was? And why had my father locked this away?
I immediately brought him the sketchbook. At first, he said nothing, just staring at the cover. Then he whispered, “You found it.”
“Who’s Ben?” I asked gently. “Ben was my best friend. We made comics together and dreamed of publishing our own series. But just before high school ended, his family left without warning. No goodbye. No address.”
“Why didn’t you try to find him?” Dad shook his head. “I did. I wrote letters and even called his uncle once — but it led nowhere. After a while, I convinced myself it was better not to know.” He looked down at the sketchbook. “But I never stopped thinking about him.”

That night, I opened my laptop and started searching for Ben.

Three days later, Ben came to visit.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
That night, I opened my laptop and started searching for Ben. I tried to look for the blog of the artist in my impression. To my surprise, on each of his blogs was a simple line: “It was inspired by a childhood friend named Leo, who believed in stories when no one else did.” There was no doubt that he was the one I was looking for. I wrote to him instantly, pouring everything into the message and it wasn’t long before his reply came: “Leo? After all these years? Tell him I’m coming.”
Three days later, Ben came to visit. When Ben stepped through our door, it was as if time itself held its breath. Gone were the boys in the sketchbook, yet something of them remained — in the way they embraced, in the silence that followed, heavy with memories. My father, who rarely cried, let the tears fall freely. Together, they reopened the sketchbook, each page unlocking laughter, sorrow, and the dreams they had once dared to dream. In that moment, I realized time may weather the pages of a sketchbook, but it can never erase the colors painted in the heart.

It was a rainy Tuesday. I stood at the bus stop, annoyed at myself for forgetting my umbrella. Just then, Maya - a quiet newcomer from our class - stepped under the small shelter. I’d always wanted to talk to her, but she seemed shy, often drawing in her notebook during class.
“Hi,” I said, trying to sound casual. “Rain’s bad, right?”
She looked a bit surprised, “Yeah, really bad.”
The bus stop was tiny, and the rain was pouring sideways, making our skirts wet. I checked and found the bus was late. When I told Maya the bad news, she glanced at her watch, “If I miss this one, I might not make it home.” Hesitating for a while, she suggested, “We should wait in the store over there. Want to share my umbrella?” I nodded. She smiled and opened her purple umbrella. There were patches (补丁) on it as if someone had fixed it many times. “Sorry, it’s old,” she said. “My grandma gave it to me and purple was her favorite.” “It looks cool,” I replied. We leaned under the umbrella together. Suddenly it flipped (迅速翻转) inside out in the wind and we burst out laughing.
When we reached the store, Maya shook off the umbrella and set it onto the stand by the door. Then she walked over, bought two hot chocolates, and handed me one. “My treat,” she said, wiping rain from her face. “For surviving the umbrella drama.”
We sat by the window, enjoying drinks and watching the rain. After a pause, I decided to break the silence and asked why she was always drawing in her notebook during class. Her eyes lit up and she pulled it from her bag. “Want to see?” She flipped through a few pages, showing me her pictures inspired by small special things. “You make boring stuff magical,” I said admiringly. She laughed, and for a moment, it felt like we’d known each other longer than just one rainy afternoon.
The rain stopped. A distant honk (喇叭声) made us look up. “The bus!” I shouted. We grabbed our things and ran like crazy.

【答案】
The moment we took seats, Maya whispered, “Wait ... where’s my umbrella?” We’d left it at the store! My heart sank as I remembered. “I’ll go back for it after school,” I promised. Maya nodded, looking worried. After school, I hurried to the store and found the umbrella right where we’d left it, safe and sound. Without hesitation, I picked it up and went home, expecting to see Maya the next day.
The next day, I walked into the classroom and handed the umbrella to Maya. “Here it is,” I said, smiling. “I promised I’d bring it back, didn’t I?” Maya’s face lit up with relief as she clutched it tightly. Maya’s eyes sparkled with gratitude. “Thank you,” she whispered. From that day on, our friendship blossomed. We did everything that close friends did. We often shared laughters and secrets, just like we had on that rainy Tuesday, all thanks to a purple umbrella and a promise kept.

Passage 1
(24-25高二下·福建漳州·期末联考)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Longtime friends Alex Lewis and Matt Koch hiked into the Colorado backcountry in December of 2016, planning to spend four days in the wilderness, miles away from the nearest town.
The first leg of the trip was a three-mile ski into a cottage at base camp. The uphill climb was a tough journey that had its reward of quietness and beauty. The friends were making a visit of sorts to the wonder the winterscape provided. A year earlier, Matt had been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He was now cancer-free, and the trip was a celebration of life.
“This trip was kind of an opportunity for me to prove to myself that I could do things that required a physical fitness level I thought maybe I’d never have if I was a cancer survivor,” Matt says.
Backcountry skiing has its challenges, and this seemed perfect for Matt and his new life. But the physical demands began to increase. Heavy snow weighed down every step as they made their way forward. Matt became painfully aware that his recovery from cancer had caused more damage to his physical health than what he had realized. He was not in the physical shape he needed to be.
Night quickly approached. Temperatures were dropping, and the wind picked up. The two seasoned outdoors men decided to dig into the snow and make a shelter in the trees. They could rest for a few hours, regain some energy and push on to the cottage in the morning. But the wind kicked up, and the shelter collapsed.
After a cold night, the two were happy to see there wasn’t much farther to go. But there was a lot of fresh snow. “Our progress was pretty slow. And I just remember taking this step, and, all of a sudden, hearing this rushing water sound,” Alex recalls. “And being knocked off my feet and starting to slide, I realized that I had caused an avalanche (雪崩) right underneath me.”

He skied the dangerous valley toward the road until he could get mobile phone signal and called the police.

Emily crumpled (揉) the paper and stuffed it into a drawer, her hands trembling. It was the seventh time that she had failed to complete a satisfactory painting. One day at the hospital, a chance encounter changed everything. While she was waiting for her appointment, a burst of laughter caught her attention. Around the corner, several children gathered around a girl in a wheelchair. She was showing her colorful drawing of a “Dream Town” to other children, where a crooked (歪斜的) sun shed rainbow colors, and crooked houses were covered with blooming flowers. “This is my Dream Town!” the girl declared, her eyes shining with pride. “Even though I can’t walk, my paintbrush can take me anywhere!” she said proudly. Emily was shocked-those “imperfect” strokes she had always hated now seemed full of life.
The next day, Emily volunteered at the children’s ward (病房), art supplies in hand and anxiety in her heart. At first, the children regarded her with curiosity and shyness. But when she sketched a grinning cartoon cat, cries of amazement filled the room. A young boy held up his drawing of a dinosaur. “Miss, my dinosaur can fly!” he announced earnestly.
Days passed in a mass of paint and laughter. Emily stopped chasing “perfection” and instead focused on capturing the sparkles in the children’s eyes. Her brush regained its warmth. She led the children in creating collages (拼贴画) from recycled materials and finger-painting. Through these experiences, she realized that art’s true value lay not in awards, but in conveying emotions and hope.
Three months later, the hospital corridor became a gallery of the children’s works. Among them was a large massive piece. In the bottom right comer, Emily had written, “Every soul can shine its unique light.” Just then, her phone rang. It was an email from the art academy.

Lily stood at the starting line, her heart pounding wildly in her chest. She took a deep breath before the whistle sounded. As soon as the race began, she started running, trying her best to keep up with the other girls. For the first lap, everything went smoothly. But then, disaster struck. Lily accidentally tripped over a small rock on the track and fell to the ground. Sharp pain shot through her knees and hands, and she felt the warm trickle of blood.
As Lily lay stunned on the track, the other runners rushed past her. Humiliation burned her cheeks as she noticed classmates watching from the sidelines, whispering to each other. Certain they were laughing at her failure. Tears welled in her eyes. The urge to quit and go home nearly overwhelmed her.
Just then, a figure emerged from the crowd. Amy, one of Lily’s classmates, stopped mid-race and knelt beside her. “Are you okay?” she asked, genuine concern shining in her eyes. Too ashamed to speak, Lily could only shake her head. “Come on,” Amy said firmly, extending her hand. “Let’s finish this together.”
At that moment, the school principal, who had been observing the race, hurried over. After exchanging a few quiet words with Amy, he turned to Lily with an encouraging smile. (22-23高二下·福建福州六校联考·期末)
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
Jim slumped on the couch. Mother’s Day was coming up, and he didn’t have a present. “How can I buy a present without money?” he thought.
Jim picked up the newspaper that was lying on the couch. He noticed a large advertisement on the front page. The local department store was sponsoring a contest. “Tell us why your mom is special and win a shopping spree (疯狂购物) for her,” said the ad.
“This is perfect!” thought Jim. He ran to his room with the newspaper, taking a pencil and a blank piece of paper from his desk, he started to write.
“My mom is the best mother in the world. She always makes a lunch for me to take to school, and she never forgets my dessert. She reads as many books to me before bed as I want. She always remembers to check under the bed for monsters. And she gives the best hug, but never in front of my friends, who would laugh at me for hugging my mom.”
Jim liked what he had written. He copied it neatly and got an envelope and a stamp from his dad. He ran to the mailbox with his entry (参赛作品), “Mom will love having a shopping spree,” he thought.
Jim checked the mailbox every day for his prize. Days passed by, and then weeks. Soon it was the day before Mother’s Day. Jim still hadn’t heard anything about the contest.
“What am I going to do now?” he wondered. He didn’t have a present, and he didn’t have a shopping spree, and he still didn’t have any money. He had to think of something. Jim closed his eyes and curled his toes and thought so hard that his ears hurt.

Suddenly he had an idea. He rushed back to his desk and pulled out the piece of paper he had written about his mom for the contest. His words painted a clear picture of her love! Why not make that his gift? He carefully copied his description onto a fresh, nicer piece of paper. Then, remembering how much his mom loved the bedtime stories, he decided to illustrate it. He drew little pictures beside each special thing he had written. It wasn’t bought with money, but it was filled with his true feelings and memories.
The next morning, Jim handed his present to his mom. “Happy Mother’s Day!” he said, a little nervous. His mom unfolded the paper and began to read. As her eyes moved over his words and drawings, a soft smile spread across her face. Then, her eyes grew shiny with tears. She pulled Jim into the biggest, warmest hug, right there in the kitchen. “Oh, Jim,” she whispered, her voice thick with emotion, “this is the best present I could ever ask for. It’s perfect.”

(23-24高二下·福建莆田·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
My mother influenced me a lot. When I made a mistake, she never turned a blind eye to it. She also helped me develop many good hobbies. Handmade creation was one of my favorite hobbies. I often found myself immersed in the world of creativity and engaged in various art craft exhibitions at school.
One Saturday morning after breakfast, I told my mother that I’d go and visit the annual model aircraft exhibition on campus. Then, I set out, expecting what wonderful crafts I’d come across this year. Upon arriving, I eagerly started to explore the diverse range of creations.
Among the many fascinating exhibits, one model aircraft particularly caught my attention. I stood there for a while, admiring the beauty of this piece. Its intricate details and precise craftsmanship were truly impressive. As I reached out to get a closer look, my foot suddenly slipped, and the next thing I knew, the model aircraft was knocked over. In a split second, its wing snapped (折断), leaving me stunned and horrified.
My heart sank as I realized this was not just any model; it was a prized creation of one of my classmates. “If the organizers find I have made the model damaged, they may angrily blame me for my carelessness,” I thought.
Fear and guilt swept over me, and I was consumed by the fear of facing the consequences of my actions. With no one around to witness the accident, I hesitantly returned the damaged model to its original position. My hands were shaking as I did so and I could feel the heat of embarrassment rising to my checks.
Just as I was about to leave, my craft teacher walked by. She noticed my uneasy expression and stopped to ask if I was feeling well. Her kind and concerned tone made me feel even worse. I gave a quick excuse and hurried away, leaving behind a model with a broken wing and a heavy heart.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
Back at home, my mother sensed my mood. With a puzzled expression, she asked, “Didn’t you find anything interesting?” I hesitated, my mind racing to find an excuse for my sudden departure from the exhibition. But I knew I couldn’t lie to her. I gathered the courage and confessed what had happened in the exhibition. I thought she would be disappointed and scolded me, but instead, she just gave me a comforting smile and said, “Accidents happen. Let’s think about how we can fix it.”
Then, I carried tools and returned to the exhibition. I approached the booth where the broken model was displayed. I explained the situation to the organizers and apologized sincerely. They were understanding and allowed me to repair the model. With the help of my craft teacher, I carefully fixed the broken wing and restored the model to its former glory. This experience was a crucial lesson in honesty and responsibility — facing our mistakes and taking ownership of them is the only way to truly grow and learn.

It was a warm spring afternoon, and the sun cast a golden hue (色调) over the small town of Willow Creek. The city’s annual art exhibition was going on, and the visitors were discussing the works with excitement. Among them was Emily, a talented artist. She appreciated the pictures with her heart pounding in her chest.
Emily had always been passionate about painting since young. Over the years, her talent had bloomed, and her pictures had become a reflection of her soul — full of life and emotion. Each brushstroke (笔画) was a whisper of her thoughts, a secret shared with the world. Today, she exhibited a painting of her grandmother, a woman who had shaped her life with love and care. The painting was a reminder of the impact her grandmother had on her life, a symbol of the bond that would never fade.
As the exhibition continued, Emily watched with nervous anticipation as people moved around the room, admiring various works. Emily searched their faces for a reaction, her heart jumping when she saw a smile or a nod of appreciation. Suddenly, a familiar voice called out, “Emily, this is wonderful! Your grandmother looks so alive on this picture.” It was her art teacher, Mr. Smith, standing before her painting with a look of genuine admiration. His words filled her with a sense of achievement and relief.
The rest of the afternoon passed soon. More praises came her way. But it was the elderly man who caught her attention. He stood before her painting for what seemed like a century, his eyes misty with memories. When he finally spoke, his offer took her by surprise. “This painting reminds me so much of my late grandmother. I would like to make you an offer. Would you consider selling this painting to me?”

【答案】
At that moment, Emily hesitated. What should she do? She couldn’t imagine parting with the painting that held so many precious memories of her grandma. However, the thought of the old man’s sense of loss also upset her. Emily stood there, her gaze fixed on her painting. She recalled her grandmother’s warm smile and the love she had shown to her throughout her life. After a while, she turned to the old man, “I... I’m sorry,” she stammered, “I’m afraid I could not offer it to you.” The man nodded his head, forcing a smile and walked out of the exhibition room, a sense of loss spreading across his face.
Seeing the man leaving disappointedly, Emily made a new decision. She took down the picture, ran to the elderly man and spoke to him, “I’ve decided to offer you the painting.” Hearing the words, the man’s eyes widened with astonishment, “You mean it?” he asked, his voice trembling with emotion. Emily nodded her head firmly. Tears running down his face, the man reached out and took Emily’s hand tightly. “Thank you. This means the world to me.” Emily smiled, her heart filled with joy. It dawned on her that art not only has the power to create beauty but also conveys emotions and builds connections.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
One day, Mrs. Green asked everyone about their dream jobs. The classroom suddenly got filled with eager voices as classmates enthusiastically shared their dreams. “I want to be a college professor,” said Sarah confidently. “I dream of becoming a basketball player,” exclaimed Mike with light in his eye. The air was filled with dreams of doctors, nurses, police and various professions.
When Mrs. Green turned her attention to me, inquiring about my future career, I hesitated. “I don’t know yet,” I admitted. Then she asked if I wished to follow in my dad’s footsteps. “No,” I replied firmly.
My dad is a distinguished doctor with a demanding schedule, who often finds himself engaged in the responsibilities of his job. Thus, he often return s home late in the evening. The limited time we spent together during my growth created a noticeable distance in our relationship. I had such a lot to complain about his job and thus being a doctor would be the last option I would take.
Upon hearing my response, Mrs. Green remained silent. Instead, she encouraged me to reflect further.
A turning point came when our school organized a cultural festival. It was an important event, and we had been preparing for it for a long time. For my role, I needed to purchase a costume. Unfortunately, my mother was abroad, so the responsibility fell on my father. Unwillingly, I agreed, acknowledging that there was no other choice.
In the mall, my dad’s unfamiliarity with the shopping list became apparent. Despite Mom’s thorough list, we wandered aimlessly through the floors, struggling to find the necessary items. As we did, I felt a growing sense of discomfort.
Suddenly, a chaos drew our attention. A crowd had gathered, and someone was shouting for help. It turned out that an elderly customer had a fall, and onlookers were at a loss on how to assist.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
Without hesitation, my father rushed forward. He pushed through the crowd, his demeanor calm and collected despite the chaos around him. Kneeling beside the elderly customer, he quickly assessed the situation and instructed bystanders to call an ambulance. With gentle hands, he comforted the frightened old man, assuring him that help was on the way. As he tended to the injured, my father’s expertise as a doctor shone through, and I couldn’t help but be impressed. His actions spoke louder than any words ever could, showing me a side of him I had never seen before. The crowd dispersed, and when the ambulance arrived, my father carefully explained the situation to the paramedics before they took the elderly man away. Standing there, watching him, I realized that being a doctor wasn’t just about long hours and sacrifices; it was also about making a difference in people’s lives.
For the first time, I felt a sense of pride in his work. As we walked out of the mall, I couldn’t help but ask him about his experiences as a doctor, and he shared stories of the moments that had brought him joy and fulfillment. I listened intently, seeing him in a new light. That night, when he returned home late, instead of feeling annoyed, I greeted him with a hug and thanked him for what he did. From then on, our relationship began to mend, and I found myself looking up to him in a way I never had before. My perspective on his job changed, and I realized that being a doctor wasn’t just a demanding profession; it was a calling that allowed him to touch lives and make a real impact. As I grew older, I even found myself considering following in his footsteps, inspired by his dedication and compassion.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I’ve always prided myself on being a polite and well-mannered gentleman, disliking any behavior that lacks proper politeness. However, in an unexpected turn of events, I found myself becoming the very person I have a strong dislike for. It happened during a wait for a train at the Southampton station.
One afternoon, I was waiting for the train to London, and the station was crowded with travelers. With some time to spare, I decided to go into a convenience store to grab a pack of potato chips, which I put into my backpack. With a bit of time before the train’s departure, I took out a book, found a seat, and absorbed myself in reading.
After a while, I noticed a woman beside me casually helping herself to my bag of chips, showing complete disrespect. I was shocked by her rudeness. Without any acknowledgment or permission, she had dived into my snack. While I had the urge to express my dissatisfaction, I held back. I slightly shifted the bag in her direction, hoping she’d take it easy. To my surprise, the woman remained unbothered by the situation and went on pulling out a chip from the pack, giving me a smile. Her actions were so daring that I was left in disbelief. At that moment, I struggled with conflicting emotions. On one hand, I felt like talking to her directly about her actions, but on the other, I resisted the urge, maintaining my calmness.
Then the broadcast announced, “Passengers, please board the train.” I absentmindedly(茫然地)threw my book into my backpack, grabbed the empty potato chip wrapper that had been shared, dropped it into the rubbish bin, and headed straight for the ticket gate. Soon I found my seat on the train. Unexpectedly, the woman’s seat was directly opposite mine. Feeling upset, I reached into my backpack intending to continue my reading so as to calm myself down.

【答案】
To my astonishment, I discovered my unopened bag of chips resting safely inside. All of a sudden I realized the truth that while we were waiting for the train, the lady ate her own potato chips. And how unreasonable and arrogant I was, although I actively controlled my anger at the time. At this moment, I felt extremely embarrassed and ashamed. How should I be so rude and impolite? Where was my own cultivation?! I sincerely apologized to the lady immediately and explained my negligence.
“No worries,” the woman said with a smile. The woman went on to say that understanding was the best choice for everyone was neglecting. Though I ate her potato chips in the station without her permission, she was still friendly to me, which was the true embodiment of cultivation and quality. Compared with this woman, the quality and self-cultivation I claimed was not worth mentioning. She was the example I really wanted to learn from.

I had booked the flights in somewhat of a hurry with just a carry-on bag, thinking 7 kgs was enough for a 3-day trip to Taupo. I thought I’d given myself enough time to get to the airport, however, as often was the case, I was running late and had to pack my bag with little time left. Confused about what to carry, I stuffed all the clothes in my little bag, taking no notice of the weight.
Thirty minutes before the flight, I was waiting at my terminal (航站楼) in the airport and couldn’t stop smiling. I was too excited to go on a much-needed trip. A little while later, I heard an announcement “Passengers flying to Taupo on Flight NZ5091 are requested to weigh your cabin luggage and collect your tag”. I stood in the line waiting for my turn, clueless about how much my bag would weigh, deep inside hoping not over the weight limit.
When it was my turn, I placed my bag on the weighing scale and whoaaaa!! It was 9.4 kgs. I asked the flight attendant if I could buy $20 extra luggage allowance (行李费) as shown on the app but I was too late for it. Instead, I was asked to pay an additional fee of $65. I either had to pay or leave something away to bring it down to 7 kgs. I asked the attendant whether they would give my stuff back to me if I returned 3 days later and surprisingly I was told I wouldn’t get it back.
To me, a bad luggage experience had the power to completely sour a trip. With no other alternatives, I decided to give up some of my stuff. Unsettled, annoyed, disappointed! As I started removing the items, I saw a lady approaching me. It looked like she had heard the whole thing. She sat down next to me. “Are you OK? I should be able to help you.” She said.

I looked up, surprised, and saw her pointing at her bag. She said he didn’t take many things and could help me share some of my belongings. I couldn’t believe the help from a stranger. But, I thought to myself “this is the best way.” I am grateful to her for her kindness and transferred my overweight items to her bag. I managed to get on the plane without paying any extra fees. When we got on the plane, our seats were far apart and we didn’t communicate much, so I knew very little about this stranger.
While I was worried whether I could get my stuff back, the plane landed. There were a lot of people getting out of the plane. I was waiting for my turn and waiting for the strange woman to pass me by and return my stuff. In fact, I had been prepared for the worst. All sorts of disturbing thoughts ran through my mind. Just then, the strange woman tapped me on the shoulder. And voluntarily returned my things. I thanked the strange woman from the bottom of my heart. It also gave me a new faith in humanity.

Having nice things can make you feel good, but at the end of the day, what truly matters is that we have people we love and care about in our lives.
Still, when someone is asked to sacrifice something in order to be with their loved ones in good health, it can be hard. That was the situation one man was put in two decades ago when his wife was diagnosed with cancer.
Years ago, Wesley Ryan learned his wife, Laura, had been diagnosed with cancer. The medical bills were piling up, and he knew in order to continue making ends meet, he would have to sell his beloved car.
Wesley loved that car and even nicknamed it Christine, based on the 1958 Plymouth Fury from Stephen King’s book, Christine. However, Laura meant more to him, and Wesley wanted her to continue getting the care she needed. So he handed over the keys.
“I know how much it broke him in half seeing that car drive away from him,” his son, Jake, wrote online. “It’s a day that I’ll never forget.” Jake and his sister, Jeni, knew they wanted to help their dad reunite with the car he’d loved so much. And over the years, the siblings had saved up enough money. So they started an online search and surprisingly, they were able to track down the old car online.
Actually, the man who bought the car found out about Wesley’s story and the meaning behind the beloved vehicle by accident. Moved by the sacrifice one man had made for his family and how his family stepped up to repay him in the sweetest way possible, he soon got in touch with Jake, who purchased it as soon as possible. And after careful consideration, Jake and Jeni decided to surprise their dad in a nearby parking lot. Moreover, Laura, cancer-free for 13 years at the time, joined them for the big reveal.

Finally, the day came when Wesley reunited with his beloved car. As Jake led him closer to the familiar sound of an engine rumbling, Wesley still had no idea what surprise his family had in store for him. When they turned the corner, Wesley froze in shock. Parked before him was his beloved Christine, gleaming under the sunlight. His heart raced, and tears welled up in his eyes. He couldn’t believe his eyes. Could it really be his car?
Wesley’s hands trembled as he reached out to confirm that it was real. He ran his hands on the car, memories of the time he had spent with the car flooding back. Overwhelmed with emotions, he turned to his family.

Passage 1

Curiously, I unlocked the drawer.

Emily crumpled (揉) the paper and stuffed it into a drawer, her hands trembling. It was the seventh time that she had failed to complete a satisfactory painting. Ever since failing to get into the art academy six months ago, she bad been consumed by self-doubt, her once-lively brushstrokes had turned dull, and even her beloved painting bad become a source of pain.

Among the participants was Lily, a shy but determined girl from Class 3.She had signed up for the 800-meter race, hoping to prove to herself and her classmates that she could overcome her self-doubt.

Passage 1
(23-24高二下·福建莆田·期末)

Passage 1
(24-25高二下·福州三中·期末)

Passage 1
