The Grinch (2000) This is a Christmas must-watch and one of Jim Carrey’s best performances. It was also originally a nursery tale book written by Dr Seuss. It’s the story of a green monster who wants to ruin Christmas but in the end discovers the power of love and generosity. I promise it’s a great film with plenty of laughs along the way. Love Actually (2003) While this is not a personal favourite of mine, people in the UK absolutely love this film. It has many featuring actors and actresses. It might be a little difficult to follow as there are complex plots, so I recommend watching a translated version. However, the heart-warming elements of the film make it worth watching. Home Alone (1990) This amusing masterwork is one of my favourite films of all time. It tells the story of a boy, Kevin, who is left alone in his house when his large family forgets to take him on vacation with them. While other family members are away, burglars try to rob the house and Kevin must protect his home by setting traps. The trips, falls and traps will have you laughing out loud as you watch an 8-year-oldboy beat two grown men. Miracle on 34th Street (1994) You can’t have Christmas in an English-speaking country without watching this movie. It’s not funny like Home Alone or The Grinch, but it is incredibly touching. It’s about a man who claims to be Santa, but nobody believes him except a lawyer and a little girl. The storyline may seem a little childish but you can enjoy it at any age. 1. Which film is adapted from a fairy tale? A. The Grinch. B. Home Alone. C. Love Actually. D. Miracle on 34th Street. 2. What is Home Alone mainly about? A. An unsuccessful family vacation. B. A boy protecting his home by himself. C. A terrible suffering of a little boy. D. An 8-year-oldboy’s practical jokes. 3. Why is Miracle on 34th Street so popular? A. Owing to its moving plot. B. Because of its funny story. C. Due to its childish storyline. D. Because of its famous actors and actresses. A 2. B 3. 根据The Grinch (2000)部分中“It was also originally a nursery tale book written by Dr Seuss.(它最初也是苏斯博士写的一本童话书)”可知,电影《圣诞怪杰》(The Grinch)由童话改编而来。故选A项。 根据Home Alone (1990)部分中“It tells the story of a boy, Kevin, who is left alone in his house when his large family forgets to take him on vacation with them. While other family members are away, burglars try to rob the house and Kevin must protect his home by setting traps.(它讲述了一个小男孩凯文的故事,当他的大家庭忘记带他去度假时,他被独自留在家里。当其他家庭成员都不在的时候,窃贼试图抢劫房子,凯文必须设置陷阱来保护他的家)”可知,电影《小鬼当家》(Home Alone)主要讲述了小男孩凯文独自和窃贼斗争,保护他的家的故事。故选B项。 【3题详解】 细节理解题。根据Miracle on 34th Street (1994)部分中“It’s not funny like Home Alone or The Grinch, but it is incredibly touching. It’s about a man who claims to be Santa, but nobody believes him except a lawyer and a little girl.(它不像《小鬼当家》或《圣诞怪杰》那样有趣,但它非常感人。它讲的是一个人自称是圣诞老人,但除了一个律师和一个小女孩没人相信他)”可知,电影《34街的奇迹》(Miracle on 34th Street)如此受欢迎的原因在于它感人的故事情节。故选A项。 B Two years ago, Johnny Furphy from Melbourne was finishing high school and dreaming of becoming a professional basketball player. Today he’s three games away from winning an NBA championship. Furphy, just at 20, has had a great new player year with the Indiana Pacers as the team tries to win its first championship. After winning the NBA’s Eastern Conference, the Pacers is now locked in a best of seven battle with the Oklahoma City Thunder for basketball’s biggest prize. The Pacers defeated the New York Knicks to obtain the Eastern Conference title in a showdown (最后的决战) that saw Hollywood stars like Ben Stiller, Miles Teller and Timothee Chalamet rush to a packed Madison Square Garden each night to watch the game. Furphy’s family and friends have flown from Melbourne to cheer him on in the remaining games of the season against Oklahoma. The Pacers bested Oklahoma by just one point to win the first game of the finals series but lost game two — both teams now need three more wins to secure the championship. Looking back on his busy year, Furphy said it was hard to choose his favorite highlight but his NBA debut (首秀) was definitely a “pinch me” moment — it didn’t really feel real sometimes. “Generally, it’s been such an incredible year for me, just learning so much,” Furphy said. “My first year as a professional has been a huge learning experience. After the finals, the new star will go on to play in the NBA’s Summer League series but hopes to manage a trip back to Melbourne, where he’s looking forward to spending time with family, friends and his dogs.” 4. What is the Indiana Pacers fighting for? A. A new student player. B. A high school dream. C. A school in Melbourne. D. An NBA championship. 5. Why are Hollywood stars mentioned in paragraph 2? A. To tell the real challenge for the Pacers. B. To explain Furphy’s choice to play basketball. C. To highlight the influence of the basketball game. D. To show the difficulty of becoming a professional. 6. What do the underlined words “pinch me” in paragraph 3 probably mean? A. Ordinary. B. Frightening. C. Disappointing. D. Unbelievable. 7. What does Furphy want to do after the finals? A. Spend some time in his home city. B. Invite his family and friends to America. C. Introduce his adorable dogs to his teammates. D. Give up the NBA’s Summer League series. D 5. C 6. D 7. 根据第一段中“Today he’s three games away from winning an NBA championship. Furphy, just at 20, has had a great new player year with the Indiana Pacers as the team tries to win its first championship.(如今,他距离赢得NBA总冠军还有三场比赛。年仅20岁的弗菲在印第安纳步行者队度过了一个出色的新秀年,该队正试图赢得首个总冠军。)”可知,印第安纳步行者队正在为NBA总冠军而战。故选D。 【5题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段中“The Pacers defeated the New York Knicks to obtain the Eastern Conference title in a showdown (最后的决战) that saw Hollywood stars like Ben Stiller, Miles Teller and Timothee Chalamet rush to a packed Madison Square Garden each night to watch the game.(步行者队击败纽约尼克斯队,在决战中夺得东部冠军,本·斯蒂勒、迈尔斯·特勒和蒂莫西·查拉梅等好莱坞明星每晚都涌向人满为患的麦迪逊广场花园观看比赛。)” 根据第三段中“Looking back on his busy year, Furphy said it was hard to choose his favorite highlight but his NBA debut (首秀) was definitely a “pinch me” moment — it didn’t really feel real sometimes.(回顾忙碌的一年,弗菲说很难选出他最喜欢的亮点,但他的NBA首秀绝对是一个“pinch me”的时刻——有时感觉不太真实。)” 根据最后一段中“After the finals, the new star will go on to play in the NBA’s Summer League series but hopes to manage a trip back to Melbourne, where he’s looking forward to spending time with family, friends and his dogs.(总决赛结束后,这位新星将继续参加NBA夏季联赛系列赛,但他希望能抽出时间回到墨尔本,期待与家人、朋友和他的狗共度时光。)” A。 C Raccoons, often called “trash pandas” for searching rubbish bins, are changing as they live closer to humans. A study suggests these masked mammals are even starting to look “cuter,” a result of living near us. Scientists examined nearly 20, 000 photos. They found urban raccoons have a “clear reduction in snout length” compared to rural ones. This physical change is like early domestication in pets, suggesting urban raccoons are becoming more comfortable and less fearful around people, adapting to our world. Raffaela Lesch, a co-author, explained “urban domestication” often begins with human waste. “Trash is really the kickstarter,” she said. “Wherever humans go, there’s trash — and animals love our trash.” This easy food source draws raccoons into human areas, increasing interaction. Living near humans creates strong pressure. Raccoons less aggressive or afraid are more likely to find food, survive, and reproduce. Their genes for calmer behaviors and shorter snouts are passed on. This is consistent with “domestication syndrome,” physical changes like smaller facial bones, seen when animals adapt to humans. These traits are also seen in pets, like dogs from wolves. The study highlights that only animals with “dampened flight responses” — less likely to run away when frightened — thrive in urban settings (successfully grow, develop, and flourish in city environments). This process is a clear example of natural selection. It reminds us that our daily lives and environments can lead to unexpected evolutionary changes in the animal kingdom, showing the complex human-nature relationship. 8. What does urban raccoons’ reduced snout length imply? A. Their sense of smell gets clearer. B. They feel much safer near people. C. They increasingly choose urban life. D. Their hunting abilities grow sharper. 9. Why does Lesch call human trash a “kickstarter”? A. To explain initial species interaction. B. To illustrate raccoons’ feeding habits. C. To warn about environmental damage. D. To emphasize easy access to resources. 10. What helps raccoons succeed in urban areas? A. Their rapid reproductive cycle. B. Their ability to find new homes. C. Their calmer, less fearful nature. D. Their improved sense of hearing. 11. What can we conclude from this study? A. Raccoons are an adaptable species. B. Human presence drives animal evolution. C. Animals will always avoid human contact. D. Urban environments pose risks for wildlife. B 9. A 10. C 11. 根据第二段“This physical change is like early domestication in pets, suggesting urban raccoons are becoming more comfortable and less fearful around people, adapting to our world.(这种生理上的变化类似于宠物早期的驯化过程,表明城市中的浣熊在与人类相处时变得越来越自在,不再那么害怕人类,从而适应了我们的生活环境)”可知,城市浣熊吻部变短这一身体变化,暗示它们在人类附近更舒适、更少恐惧,即更有安全感。 根据第三段““Trash is really the kickstarter,” she said. “Wherever humans go, there’s trash — and animals love our trash.” This easy food source draws raccoons into human areas, increasing interaction.(“垃圾简直就是启动器,”她说。“无论人类走到哪里,都会留下垃圾——而动物们却喜欢我们的这些垃圾。”这种容易获取的食物来源将浣熊吸引到了人类活动区域,从而增加了它们与人类的接触机会)”可知,Lesch称人类垃圾为“启动器”,是因为垃圾吸引浣熊进入人类区域,开启了人类与浣熊的物种互动。故选A。 根据最后一段“This process is a clear example of natural selection. It reminds us that our daily lives and environments can lead to unexpected evolutionary changes in the animal kingdom, showing the complex human-nature relationship.(这一过程就是自然选择的一个典型例子。它让我们意识到,我们的日常生活和所处的环境能够导致动物界出现意想不到的进化变化,从而展现了人与自然之间错综复杂的关系)”可知,人类生活环境导致浣熊出现进化变化,说明人类的存在推动了动物进化。故选B。 D For years, we’ve been teaching a class on music and the mind. At the start of each semester, we’ve asked the students to complete a survey on their favorite songs and artists. Students’ favorite songs and artists get longer and more varied each year and their playlists barely overlap (重叠). Indeed, listening to music is a deeply private and personal experience nowadays and even more so with the introduction of the iPod and smartphones. When teenagers listen to music via streaming, artificial intelligence (AI) and social media platforms team up to suggest personalized playlists for them. Some young people feel that AI-generated playlists make them exposed to something dull. Their playlists are populated with songs and artists they’ve never heard of before, yet they all sound similar. In the past, they might not have noticed such a situation. Their musical consumption was narrowly dominated by the “Top-40” artists. However, AI-generated playlists have changed this, since a wider range of music is available. If they think their AI-influenced playlists are unappealing, they still have the ability to search for new music. Just because AI can suggest songs, it doesn’t prevent them researching and discovering music on their own, or sharing playlists. Anything that exists, they can find. The store is always open. Music listening and preferences play an important role in young people’s transition (过渡) from childhood to adulthood, two seemingly opposing but vital processes: forming a unique identity, while at the same time becoming part of a community. However, AI-generated playlists have the potential to challenge this transition. So does AI make it easier to differentiate the self, but harder to bond with others? Fears of new technologies are commonplace. For example, the decline of scheduled network TV erased lots of common ground for discussion, so will 50 million Americans ever again tune in to watch the series ending of a TV show, as they did for Friends in 2004? If AI is, indeed, contributing to the transformation of teenagers’ shared listening experiences, then AI playlists are more than a convenient way to discover their next favorites. They are a revolution worth paying attention to. 12. What makes teenagers’ music listening experiences more private? A. The extensive use of electronic devices. B. The easy access to musical instruments. C. The lack of interaction among teenagers. D. The popularization of music education. 13. What is paragraph 3 mainly about concerning AI-generated playlists? A. Their accessibility. B. Their development. C. Their advantages. D. Their limitations. 14. What challenge may AI-generated playlists present? A. They make identifying oneself impossible. B. They provide less for teens to communicate. C. They result in the decline of network TV. D. They prevent teens choosing similar songs. 15. Why does the author mention Friends in paragraph 5? A. To emphasize its popularity among Americans. B. To explain people’s willingness to accept AI. C. To tell us the predictability of new technology. D. To show the potential social influence of AI. A 13. C 14. B 15. 根据第二段“Indeed, listening to music is a deeply private and personal experience nowadays and even more so with the introduction of the iPod and smartphones. When teenagers listen to music via streaming, artificial intelligence (AI) and social media platforms team up to suggest personalized playlists for them.(的确,如今听音乐是一种非常私人和个人的体验,随着iPod和智能手机的推出,这种体验更是如此。当青少年通过流媒体听音乐时,人工智能和社交媒体平台会联合起来为他们推荐个性化的播放列表)”可知,电子产品的广泛使用使听音乐更加私人化。故选A。 根据第三段“Some young people feel that AI-generated playlists make them exposed to something dull. Their playlists are populated with songs and artists they’ve never heard of before, yet they all sound similar. In the past, they might not have noticed such a situation. Their musical consumption was narrowly dominated by the ‘Top-40’ artists. 根据第四段“Music listening and preferences play an important role in young people’s transition (过渡) from childhood to adulthood, two seemingly opposing but vital processes: forming a unique identity, while at the same time becoming part of a community. However, AI-generated playlists have the potential to challenge this transition. So does AI make it easier to differentiate the self, but harder to bond with others?(音乐聆听和音乐偏好在年轻人从童年到成年的过渡过程中扮演着重要的角色,这是两个看似对立但至关重要的过程:形成一个独特的身份,同时成为一个社区的一部分。然而,人工智能生成的播放列表有可能挑战这种转变。那么,人工智能是否让我们更容易区分自我,但却更难与他人建立联系?)”可知,AI生成式歌单可能呈现的挑战是让青少年之间的联系更加困难,减少了共同讨论、交流话题的机会。故选B。 【15题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段“Fears of new technologies are commonplace. For example, the decline of scheduled network TV erased lots of common ground for discussion, so will 50 million Americans ever again tune in to watch the series ending of a TV show, as they did for Friends in 2004?(对新技术的恐惧是司空见惯的。例如,定期电视网络的衰落抹去了许多讨论的共同基础,那么5000万美国人还会像2004年看《老友记》那样,收看电视节目的结局吗?)”可知,提及《老友记》是为了展示AI可能造成的社会影响。故选D。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。 How to Remember What You Read Reading is important. Her car was parked messily in the driveway, and she seemed to be in a hurry. We decided to ask if she needed any help. As we walked over, she was struggling to carry a large box. I offered to take it from her, and she gratefully handed it to me. She explained that she was moving some of her late(已故的) husband’s things to a storage unit. Her voice trembled as she mentioned her husband, and I could see the pain in her eyes. Over the next few hours, Alex and I helped her load more boxes into her car. We listened as she shared stories full of love about her husband and the life they had together. It was clear that this was a very emotional time for her. Mrs. Thompson thanked us for the timely help, and for a moment, her face seemed to relax a bit. However, later in the day, things took a turn. As we were about to leave, we overheard Mrs. Thompson on the phone. She was arguing with someone about money. It seemed that there were some unexpected bills related to the storage unit, and she was worried about how she would pay them. Alex immediately suggested that we pool our savings to help her, but I hesitated. I had been saving up for a new pair of sneakers(运动鞋) for a long time, and I wasn’t sure if I was ready to give that up. The sneakers were limited edition, and I had been eyeing them for months. I really wanted those sneakers, yet I knew Mrs. Thompson was in a tough spot. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With hearts beating fast, we walked up to Mrs. Thompson with some savings. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】参考范文 I really wanted those sneakers, yet I knew Mrs. Thompson was in a tough spot. Alex kept looking at me with begging eyes. I felt so torn, my mind full of a mix of guilt and longing. The picture of the cool sneakers kept appearing in my head, but so did Mrs. Thompson’s sad expression. After what seemed like a really long time of struggling inside myself, I took a deep breath and nodded at Alex. We quickly figured out how much money we could give without using up all our savings. With hearts beating fast, we walked up to Mrs. Thompson with some savings. When we held out the money to her, her eyes opened wide in shock. We told her it was the least we could do and we hoped she could soon go through the hard time. Her thankfulness was really strong, and she gave us both a big hug. In that moment, I realized that the happiness of helping her was much greater than the short-lived excitement of getting those sneakers. The experience taught me that real value isn’t in things we own but in the relationships we make and the kindness we show. Thompson。 词汇激活 行为类 ①盯着看:look at/stare at ②度过:go through/get through ③意识到:realize/be aware of 情绪类 ①震惊:shock/astonishment ②感激:thankfulness/gratitude 【点睛】[高分句型1] After what seemed like a really long time of struggling inside myself, I took a deep breath and nodded at Alex. (句中含有what引导宾语从句) [高分句型2] In that moment, I realized that the happiness of helping her was much greater than the short-lived excitement of getting those sneakers.(句中含有that引导宾语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 环县一中2025~2026学年度第二学期期中考试 高二英语试题 考生注意: 1. 1.What does the man want to do this afternoon? B Two years ago, Johnny Furphy from Melbourne was finishing high school and dreaming of becoming a professional basketball player. C Raccoons, often called “trash pandas” for searching rubbish bins, are changing as they live closer to humans. D For years, we’ve been teaching a class on music and the mind. How to Remember What You Read Reading is important. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
