My favourite book is The Secret Garden. It was written in 1909 by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The book became very popular and is still one of the greatest books for children.
The main characters are Mary, Mr Craven (Colin’s father), Dickon, and Colin. After her parents die, Mary goes to live at her uncle’s big house. One day, she finds the secret garden, which is in bad condition. With her friend Dickon, she makes the garden beautiful again. Later, they meet the sick and unhappy Colin. Finally, with the help of nature and friendship, both Mary and Colin become happier and healthier.
This book has taught me to love nature and see how it can help us. I’m inspired by the author’s description of nature. As Burnett said,“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.” I’ve read the book twice and still enjoy it. If you have never read anything by Frances Hodgson Burnett, I recommend starting with this book.

Reading is a life-long journey. Among all the books I’ve read, Journey to the West is my favourite. It was written by Wu Cheng’en during the Ming Dynasty, and it’s one of China’s Four Great Classical Novels. It has been widely spread around the world.
The story is about a great adventure to the west. The main characters are Tang Sanzang and his three followers—Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing. At the beginning, the four start their journey to get holy books. On their way, they meet many dangerous monsters and face 81 difficulties. Even though the journey is full of challenges, they always help each other and never give up. In the end, they achieve their goal and finish their great journey.
This book has taught me the importance of teamwork and never giving up. It shows that even though everyone has their own weaknesses, we can become stronger when we work together. I’ve read it many times and still enjoy it. If you love exciting and meaningful adventure stories, I strongly recommend this book.
