Are you looking for a fun and challenging activity? Say hello to sudoku, the number-placement puzzle (智力游戏) that’s sweeping the world, and it’s perfect for young minds like yours!
Sudoku is a 9-by-9 grid (方格) puzzle in which the grid is divided into 3-by-3 boxes (方框). The goal is to fill the grid with numbers from 1 to 9, making sure each number appears exactly once in every row, column (列), and 3-by-3 box. At the start of the puzzle, some numbers are already filled in as clues (提示) to help you get started.
But how do you solve it? It’s all about using your logic (逻辑) and paying attention to patterns. Here’s a simple tip: If you see a number in a row or column, it can’t appear again in the same row or column. The same rule applies (应用) to the 3-by-3 boxes. Use this rule to cross out numbers that can’t be in certain cells (小方格), and you’ll be on your way to solving the puzzle.
Don’t worry if you have difficulty. Sudoku puzzles can be difficult, but that’s what makes them so much fun! If you get stuck, try taking a break and come back with a fresh mind. Sometimes, just stepping away for a little while can help you see the puzzle in a new way.
And here’s the best part: sudoku is great for your brain! It helps develop your problem-solving skills, improve your memory, and even relax you after a long day at school. Besides, it’s a game that anyone can play, no matter the age.
So why not give sudoku a try? Pick up a pencil and a piece of paper (or download a sudoku app on your phone), and start solving puzzles today. You might just find that this simple number game becomes your new favorite hobby. Happy puzzling!

First, you shouldn’t arrive early at a party. It’s normal to be on time or a few minutes late, but arriving early can cause problems. Once, I arrived 10 minutes early at a party. Usually that’s the polite thing to do, right? But my friend looked so surprised to see me! He was still getting ready.
Second, it’s important to bring a gift when you visit someone. ____18____ It wasn’t his birthday, but everyone else brought gifts like chocolates or flowers to thank him for the party. I was so embarrassed!
Third, you should always try to dress for the occasion. At that party it was surprising to see how nicely everyone was dressed. It was summer, so I was just wearing a simple blouse and shorts. But everyone else was dressed so well that I felt silly.
Fourth, it’s best not to ask personal questions unless you know the person well. Many French people are quite private. They don’t like it when others ask them about their age, their family, whether they are married, or how much money they make. ____19____
Last but not least, make sure you use French whenever you can. Lots of people speak English here, but you can develop closer relationships with them if you use French. ____20____ I found that even a simple “merci” goes a long way! You’ll see what I mean as soon as you get here!

四、阅读与表达(共10分)
根据短文内容回答下列问题
Located in Africa, the Sahara Desert spreads across 30 per cent of the continent. This vast (巨大的) desert, also known as “the great desert” in Arabic, is about 9 million square kilometres in size. It is also at least 4.6 million years old. This means that it is one of the oldest places in the world.
All deserts are dry, and the Sahara is both dry and hot. It is the largest hot desert in the world. We may think that all deserts are hot, but in fact some deserts are very cold! Many scientists believe that Antarctica, for example, is a type of cold desert.
Most of the Sahara is rocky ground. But there are also places with grass, lakes, mountains, and even sand seas. A sand sea is just what it sounds like — it looks like a sea of sand! When the wind blows, the sand looks like waves.
Life in the Sahara is difficult. About two million people live in the Sahara. They usually move from place to place. There is water in a few parts of the Sahara, and some people live in these places all year round.
Not many animals can live in a place with such a dry and hot climate. They must adapt (适应) to survive. Camels, for example, go for a long time without drinking water. When they do find water, they can drink more than 100 litres of it in 13 minutes! Fennec foxes live in the desert too. They have large ears to help their bodies stay cool.
Today, the world’s largest hot desert is getting even bigger. It is now about 10 per cent larger than what it was about a century ago. But why is it growing? Some scientists believe that part of the reason is climate change. As temperatures rise, summers in Africa grow hotter and less rain falls. Water bodies get smaller and the ground gets drier and drier. If we do not take effective measures, the desert will keep growing!
41. Why is the Sahara Desert one of the oldest places in the world?
___________________________________
42. How do animals adapt to survive in the Sahara Desert? Please give an example.
___________________________________
43. What are the summers in Africa like because of climate change?
___________________________________
44. Would you like to visit the Sahara Desert or even live there for a while? Why or why not?
___________________________________
【答案】41. Because it is at least 4.6 million years old.
42. Camels can go for a long time without drinking water.
43. Summers are getting hotter and there is less rain.
44.
Yes, I’d love to, because I’m interested in the amazing natural sights there and I’m also a big fan of adventures in nature. I want to ride a camel through the desert. Although it’s hot and dry, it is still a wonderful place full of amazing thing.

From this experience, I realize failure is never terrible. If we keep working hard, we will surely beat difficulties. It helps me regain confidence and teaches me that hardships make us braver and stronger.

43. What are the summers in Africa like because of climate change?

44. Would you like to visit the Sahara Desert or even live there for a while? Why or why not?
