根据下文“One day our uncle gave us two ...”
根据后文“our uncle put stones in our bags”可知,叔叔递给两人的是袋子,bags贴合下文内容。
a little可用来修饰形容词,表示“有点儿”,此处修饰surprised;little、few 表否定含义,a few只能修饰名词,均不适用。

Do you want to have a pet? Having a pet is becoming very common (常见的) in China these days. And pet owners are now willing to spend more money on their pets than before.
According to a report from GouMin.com and Pet Fair Asia, Chinese people living in cities spent a total of 202.4 billion yuan on their pets in 2019. Most pet owners are people born after 1990. How would you like to build a time machine? Paper, sticks, glue and string are all you need. Put them together to build a kite. A kite connects (连接) you to the past.
No one knows who flew the first kite. It was probably someone in China or perhaps Indonesia. Indonesian fishermen hung fishhooks on kites and sent them out to sea to catch fish. Starting 2,000 years ago, Chinese farmers flew kites to welcome the New Year and bring good luck to Earth.
In China, people also used kites during wartime. One Chinese story tells how soldiers (士兵) put noise makers on kites and flew them at night over the enemy camp. The enemies were frightened by the noise and ran away.
About 1,300 years ago, Chinese travelers took kites to Japan. Soon kites filled the skies there. Kites reached Thailand about 700 years ago. During floods (洪水), Thai farmers flew kites over their fields. They hoped the kites would drive away the clouds and stop the rain. Over time, kites flew their way out of Asia. Today, kites are a passion all over the world. Kite fans meet at festivals in many parts of the world and have great fun.
Over the years, kites have also helped people understand the natural world. In 1749, for example, thermometers were tied to kites to measure temperatures. In 1906, cameras hanging from kites took pictures of San Francisco, California after an earthquake. The photos helped people plan what to do.
Kites also helped inventors (发明家) find out how to make airplanes. The Wright brothers studied how kites flew, which helped them make the first successful airplane.
Since the ancient Chinese first set their kites into the air, people have loved flying kites. Kites give us ways to celebrate, relax and explore. So go fly a kite! Enjoy the feeling of wonder that kite flyers have felt for thousands of years.
47. According to the passage, in which countries were kites used to make good wishes?
A. China and Japan. B. China and Thailand. C. Japan and Indonesia. D. Thailand and Indonesia.
48. The underlined word “passion” in Paragraph 4 means ________.
A. strong love B. useful machine C. happy dream D. common treasure
49. How does the writer develop Paragraph 5?

F“In fact, happiness is always around you if you put your heart into it.”(事实上,如果你用心,幸福总是在你身边)作为段首句,能很好地统领全段内容,且与段尾句“If you notice them, you can see that happiness is always around you.”

空格前列举了朋友帮助、父母照顾、他人祝贺等多种具体场景,空格后说“If you notice them, you can see that happiness is always around you.”(如果你注意到它们,你可以看到幸福总是在你身边。)。选项A“All these are part of your happiness.”(所有这些都是你幸福的一部分)是对前文列举内容的总结,且后句中的“them”指代“All these”。
本段首句说“幸福不同于金钱”,空格后说“When you are poor, you can also say you are very happy, because you have something else that can’t be bought with money.”,当你贫穷的时候,你也可以说你很幸福,因为你还有其他用钱买不到的东西。选项E“It is a feeling of your heart.”(它是你内心的一种感觉)解释了幸福的本质,与金钱无关,承上启下。

空格后一句是“When it closes, it also opens.”,当它关闭时,它也会打开。 D“As the saying goes, life is like a revolving (旋转) door.”(正如老话讲的,生活就像一扇旋转门),“door”(门)即为后文“it”的指代对象,衔接紧密。

One day, Peter is walking in the market with Shirley, with some shells in his pocket. When Peter finds Shirley is standing in front of a toy shop and looking at something inside the window, he goes to her and asks, “What do you want?” Shirley points at the doll inside the window. Walking into the shop, Peter gives the doll to Shirley. The sister is really happy.
Peter comes to the shopkeeper, “How much is this doll, sir?” The shopkeeper asks the boy kindly, “We, what can you pay (付费)?” Peter reaches into his clothes for money that was for their breakfast. “Sir, is it enough?” The shopkeeper answers, “I’m afraid it’s not enough.”
Peter thinks for a while and then takes out all the shells. The shopkeeper takes the seashells and starts counting them as if they are coins (硬币). “These are more than the cost” Saying so, the shopkeeper keeps only four shells and gives back the others and the money.
After they leave, an assistant (助手) in the shop asks the shopkeeper, “Sir! Why do you do that? That doll certainly costs more than four seashells.” The shopkeeper says, “For us, these are shells, but for the boy, they are treasures.
Most of them have high incomes and are well-educated. Pet owners in China are spending more on pet food, clothing and furniture, according to a report from Euromonitor International.
Miss Hou, 28, lives in Chengdu. She spent 6,000 yuan on her two cats before. “I bought tinned cat food from the United States, New Zealand, Japan and Thailand.” Hou said to Xinhua.
“If I have time, I also cook for them,” she said.
“An aging society and fewer people having children are among the main reasons for keeping pets,” said Liu Xiaoxia, CEO of GouMin. com. “Keeping pets has met the emotional (感情的) needs of many people. Almost 60 per cent of pet owners see their animal friends as their own children.” Liu said.
Beating loneliness might be another reason. Many young people are leaving their hometowns to make a living in big cities. “They are suffering (遭受) from great loneliness and pressure, as they have few friends and face a high cost of living.
