IV. 范文
Manners in Chinese Homes
Dear Tina,
It's important for us to show good manners when we visit friends and do other things. In China ,we need to attach importance to some party manners ,conversation topics and table manners .Subsequently ,I feel like sharing some advice with you.
First, when you participate in a party or meeting, you should arrive early or on time .It's impolite to be late. What's more ,you are supposed to greet the host with complimentary language.
Second, whether it is a birthday party or other casual parties, you are well advised to bring gifts .This shows respect, reflects good personal cultivation and helps strengthen interpersonal bonds. Additionally ,a gift is not about its cost, but whether your sincere intention is truly conveyed.
Third, when people get together, it's best not to ask personal questions unless you are close to them. Most of us are particularly private and traditional. We don't like people asking our age ,family situation ,whether we are married or how much money we earn. Dressing, food and culture, nonetheless ,are safe and suitable conversation topics.
Fourth ,it's normal for us to eat with chopsticks. Of course ,please don't stick your chopsticks into food. That is very bad behavior. Besides, don't pull or push dishes close to you with your chopsticks. Also ,don't point at others with your chopsticks or wave them about when you talk. Last but not least ,it's rude to talk while your mouth is full.
I expect your coming .And I can also learn about your national culture and have in-depth communication.
Manners in China
It’s important for us to show good manners when we visit friends. In China, there are some common customs.
For greetings, we should greet the family politely when we arrive, especially the elders. A warm “hello” or a smile is always nice.
For giving gifts, it’s polite to bring a small gift, like fruit, snacks or cookies. It shows we care about the host.
For table manners, we should wait for the elders to start eating first. Also, we shouldn’t stick chopsticks into the rice bowl, as it’s considered rude.
For conversation topics, we can talk about hobbies, school life, travel or food. It’s common to ask about family members to show kindness, but we should always be respectful.
All in all, as the saying goes, “When in Rome, do as Romans do.”
