根据“with countless operations”及固定搭配“be filled with”,可知生病期间生活被治疗占据,filled“充满”符合语境。
根据“because I was really uncertain about everything”,可知面对未知病情感到焦虑有压力。
根据“as much... as the operation itself”,可知手术带来的是痛苦,分离带来的也是痛苦。
根据前文“received a warm little card from a kind volunteer”及后文“small act of kindness”,可知指志愿者的善举。
根据“joy and magic”及前文“gave me hope again”,可知是给予正面能量。
belonged to属于、divided into分成、broke into闯入,语意不符。
根据“It is hard to believe... and it... does”,可知后半句强调事实确实如此。
根据“Seeing a picture of a child... one of our cards”,可知照片中孩子展示卡片通常是拿着。

It’s good to get along well with your teachers because it makes the time you spend in the classroom more pleasant. In general, it’s smart to learn how to get along well with the different types of people you’ll meet throughout your life.
In fact, kids who get along well with their teachers not only learn more, but they’re more comfortable with asking questions and getting extra help. When you have this kind of relationship with a teacher, he or she can be someone to turn to with problems, such as problems with learning or school issues (问题).
Here is a question: What if you don’t get along with your teachers? In fact, teachers want to get along well with you and enjoy seeing you learn. But teachers and students sometimes have personality clashes (个性冲突), which can happen between any two people. If you show your teacher that you want to make the situation better, he or she will probably do everything possible to make that happen. By dealing with a problem like this, you learn something about how to get along with people who are different from you.
However, if a teacher isn’t your favorite, you can still have a successful relationship with him or her especially _________. Here are some of those responsibilities: Attend class on time. Do you always say “thank you” when someone does you a favor, big or small? How do you feel when others show no response to your kindness?
I’ve been thinking about writing this for years, but always worried it would sound like the thoughts of an old crank Then, a few weeks ago, I had an epiphany (顿悟).
I was at the grocery store, heading for the only open cashier at the same time as an older woman with a full cart. I gestured (做了个手势) for her to go first, but she insisted I go ahead since I had only one item. We went back and forth until she playfully stomped (跺) her foot and let me go first. I thanked her, and we started chatting about the weather. We wished each other a nice day, and I left smiling.
The epiphany? Well, it’s simple really. The lady had unselfishly let me go first and I had thanked her, and that common courtesy (礼貌) led to a lovely conversation with a stranger. That connection brightened my day, as I think, it did hers. The world felt a little kinder at that moment.
And then I took the difficult drive home on narrow streets where cars had to take turns to pass. Ideally, drivers would wave thanks to each other, but that day, no one did. Sadly, this seems to be the norm now.
Thanking someone is the right thing to do. It rewards kindness and encourages more of it. On a social level, it shows that our community thrives (兴旺) when we help each other and act kindly. So next time someone lets you go first in traffic or holds a door open for you, take a moment to look at them in the eye, smile and say “thank you”. You’ll both walk away feeling happier.
16. Why did the old woman let the writer go first?
A. The writer was in a hurry. B. The writer was her friend.
C. The writer gestured to her. D. The writer had only one item.
17. What happened to the drivers on the narrow street?
A. They greeted each other warmly. B. They had no polite communication.
C. They argued loudly with each other. D. They waved thanks to each other.
18. What was the writer’s “epiphany”?
A. Small acts of kindness can connect people.
B. People are more likely to be kind in grocery stores.
C. Being polite to others is not as important as we think.
D. Narrow streets often make it difficult for people to communicate.
19. What does the underlined word norm probably mean?
A. special case B. common situation C. strict rule D. sweet memory
20. What is the writer’s purpose of writing the passage?
A. To show how to talk with strangers.
B. To ask people to always say “thank you”.
C. To explain how to drive safely on narrow roads.
D. To share his happy experience in the grocery store.
D 17. B 18. A 19. B 20. B
根据文章第三段“she insisted I go ahead since I had only one item”可知,老太太坚持让作者先走是因为作者只买了一件商品。
根据文章第五段“Ideally, drivers would wave thanks to each other, but that day, no one did.”
根据文章第四段“The lady had unselfishly let me go first and I had thanked her, and that common courtesy led to a lovely conversation with a stranger. That connection brightened my day...”
根据划线词所在句“Ideally, drivers would wave thanks to each other, but that day, no one did. Sadly, this seems to be the norm now.”
文章开头提出问题“Do you always say‘thank you’...”,中间通过故事阐述感谢的重要性,结尾呼吁“So next time... say‘thank you’”。
C
It’s getting hot. You go to have your hair cut. The barber Tony cuts off part of your hair and sweeps it away, but your hair’s journey is not over after the haircut.
Cut hair can be made into all kinds of wigs (假发). Real hair wigs look natural and feel comfortable to wear. Some people wear wigs for beauty, while others need them to cover hair loss. These wigs are widely popular among people of different ages.
Have you ever thought of planting your old hair after it’s cut off? Some farmers do! What comes up? Not wigs, but bigger and tastier crops. Hair is full of nitrogen (氮) that helps plants to grow. When cut hair is mixed into soil, the hair breaks down, slowly letting out nitrogen so it can help flowers and vegetables get big a little faster.
What does your hair say about you? Even many years after it has been cut, hair can tell surprising secrets. Because hair is made from bits of old cells, it has traces (微量) of chemicals that were in the body when the hair grew. When people are kept in the situation of dangerous chemicals, these traces remain in the hair. Testing hair can help doctors know if there are dangerous chemicals in the food. Hair can tell another important secret—whose hair is it? This can be used to help solve crimes.
Hair does so many things for us. It keeps us warm and cool, helps farmers, shows mysteries, and provides endless styling fun. One thing is for sure, it’s not just for wigs any more.

Be prepared for class with the right stationery, books, and completed homework. Listen when your teacher is talking.

17. What happened to the drivers on the narrow street?
A. They greeted each other warmly. B. They had no polite communication.
C. They argued loudly with each other. D. They waved thanks to each other.

21. In which part of a magazine can we probably read this passage?
A. History. B. Fashion. C. Science. D. Health.
22. How does hair help plants to grow?
A. It provides nitrogen. B. It breaks down soil.
C. It takes in rainwater. D. It lets out a smell.
23. Why do many people like real hair wigs?
A. They are very cheap. B. They look natural and comfortable.
C. They can help grow hair fast. D. They are full of nitrogen.
24. What’s the main idea of Paragraph 4?
A. Hair helps keep warm. B. Hair testing is important.
C. Hair can tell secrets. D. Hair helps solve crimes.
25. How is the passage organized? (P: Paragraph)
A. B. C. D.
