Have a look at our exciting list of holidays right here in China and decide what type of adventure you’d like. Activity holidays Our activity holidays are for everyone—people who love excitement or simply enjoy outdoor sports. We have a wide choice of water, snow and desert activities. You can go underwater diving in Sanya, Hainan Province, or try exciting boat trips on the small rivers of the Yangtze. If you prefer snow, head to the ski resorts in Zhangjiakou, where the 2022 Winter Olympics were held. Polar (极地)-style trips No need to travel to the ends of the earth—explore China’s own “polar” areas! Take a cruise on the frozen Songhua River in Harbin, where ice and snow turn the city into a winter wonderland. Visit the amazing glaciers of the Qilian Mountains in Gansu, or discover the large snowy fields in the Altay Mountains of Xinjiang. A truly unforgettable experience within our own country! Cultural journeys Our cultural journeys will help you discover ancient civilizations (文明): Dunhuang, Lhasa, Xi’an and many more. Visit the Mogao Caves with thousands of Buddhist paintings, the Potala Palace standing high on the Red Hill, or the Terracotta Warriors guarding the tomb (陵墓) of China’s first emperor. Remember to bring your camera! Get to know local ways of life by exploring lively markets in Xinjiang, tasting handmade noodles in Gansu, and chatting with local people on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau. Wildlife holidays We organize small-group tours to get closer to nature in China’s wild west and south. Go on a wildlife trip in the Wolong Nature Reserve to watch giant pandas in their bamboo forest. Look for golden monkeys in the Shennongjia forests of Hubei. Take a boat trip on the Caohai Lake in Guizhou to see rare black-necked cranes. We use local guides and offer different accommodation, from tents in grasslands to wooden houses by the lake. 26. What is the main purpose of this passage? A. To explain how to plan a trip to different places. B. To compare different types of outdoor activities. C. To introduce the popular places of interest in China. D. To encourage people to try risk-taking trips in China. 27. What can you learn from the four types of travel? A. Adventure travel usually costs a lot of money. B. China provides rich nature, culture and adventure. C. Cultural journeys are more meaningful than others. D. Go to try polar trips first for an unforgettable trip. 28. What does the underlined word “accommodation” mean in the last paragraph? A. Places to live or stay. B. Food and drinks. C. Local travel guides. D. Means of transport. C 27. B 28. 【28题详解】 根据划线词所在的句子“We use local guides and offer different accommodation, from tents in grasslands to wooden houses by the lake.” (B) Mrs. Rachel Lynde had come to see the orphan (孤儿) girl. After staring at Anne from head to toe, she said, “You’re terribly thin! Did anyone ever see hair as red as carrots?” Anne’s face turned red. “How dare you!” she cried, hitting the floor with her foot. “I hate you! You are a rude, unkind woman!” Then she ran upstairs and shut the door hard. That evening, Anne’s guardian (监护人) Matthew went quietly upstairs. “Anne,” he said, “don’t you think you’d better do it and get it over with? Mrs. Lynde will never give in.” Anne thought for a moment. “I think I could do it if it would please you, Matthew. It would be true enough to say I am sorry, because I am sorry now. I wasn’t a bit sorry last night. I was so angry that I could not sleep. But this morning it was over.” “You’ll feel better after,” said Matthew. “You’ll soon forget it.” The next afternoon, they went to Mrs. Lynde’s. When they entered, Anne suddenly went down on her knees before the surprised Mrs. Rachel and held out her hands. “Oh, Mrs. Lynde,” she cried, “I am really sorry. I could never express all my sadness—no, not if I used up a whole dictionary. I was very bad to you, and I have let down Matthew, who has let me stay here. It was very wrong of me to get so angry because you told me the truth. My hair is red, and I am skinny and not pretty. What I said to you was true too, but I should not have said it. Oh, Mrs. Lynde, please forgive me. If you refuse, it will be a lifelong sadness to a poor little orphan girl.” “There, there, get up, child,” Mrs. Lynde said heartily. “Of course I forgive you. I guess I was a little too hard on you, anyway.” As they walked home, Matthew looked at Anne. “You said all that from the bottom of your heart, didn’t you?” Anne nodded. “Yes, Matthew. And I’ve learned something. It gives you such a lovely, comfortable feeling to apologize and be forgiven.” 29. Why did Anne become very angry with Mrs. Lynde? A. Because Mrs. Lynde looked at her in a rude way. B. Because Mrs. Lynde refused to let Matthew see her. C. Because Mrs. Lynde said she could not stay at the house. D. Because Mrs. Lynde made impolite comments on her look. 30. What made Anne change her attitude about apologizing? A. Mrs. Lynde came and said sorry to her first. B. She was afraid of being sent away from the house. C. She calmed down and wanted to make Matthew happy. D. Matthew told her that Mrs. Lynde would punish her. 31. How did Anne apologize to Mrs. Lynde? A. She asked Matthew to go with her and speak for her. B. She made big moves and used strong words to say sorry. C. She stood at the door and said sorry in a very quiet voice. D. She wrote Mrs. Lynde a letter and asked her to forgive her. 32. What did Anne learn from the experience? A. One should hide one’s true feelings. B. Don’t tell the truth about one’s looks. C. Admitting a mistake can bring peace inside. D. Orphan children often try hard to please adults. D 30. C 31. B 32. Did anyone ever see hair as red as carrots?” 【30题详解】 第三段中,马修劝安妮去道歉:“don’t you think you’d better do it and get it over with?” 以及第四段中安妮回答:“I think I could do it if it would please you, Matthew.” 【31题详解】 第六段描述安妮道歉时的举动:“Anne suddenly went down on her knees before the surprised Mrs. Rachel and held out her hands.” 【32题详解】 文章最后一句安妮说:“It gives you such a lovely, comfortable feeling to apologize and be forgiven.” (C) Guangzhou Embroidery, or Guangxiu, is one of China’s four famous embroidery styles. With a history of over 1,000 years, this traditional craft is known for its bright colors, lively patterns, and 3-D appearance. However, like many traditional arts, it was once in danger of disappearing. In the past, learning Guangxiu required many years of practice. Young people found it too difficult and time-consuming, so fewer and fewer wanted to learn it. By the early 2000s, only a few elderly masters still knew the skills. The craft was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage (非遗) in 2006, which helped draw attention to its value. Today, a new generation is bringing Guangxiu back to life. Art schools in Guangzhou now offer courses in traditional embroidery. Students learn not only the basic stitches (针法) but also how to design modern patterns. One such artist is Chen Yushan, a 24-year-old designer who combines Guangxiu with fashion design. Her embroidered jackets and bags have become popular among young people. Technology is also playing a role in protecting this traditional art. Digital tools allow artists to record and share traditional patterns online. On TikTok, some Guangxiu artists teach users basic embroidery skills through short videos step by step. “We want to make Guangxiu easy to understand for everyone,” says one of the artists. The revival (复兴) of Guangxiu shows that traditional crafts can still be meaningful in modern life. By adding new ideas while protecting traditional skills, young artists are making sure that this thousand-year-old art form will continue for a long time. 33. What can we learn about Guangxiu from the passage? A. Many people liked it around the year 2000. B. It has been a cultural heritage for 1000 years. C. It is the most famous embroidery style in China. D. Young people showed little interest in learning it. 34. What does the example of Chen Yushan mainly show? A. Artists can make money through embroidery. B. Traditional skills can be made popular in new ways. C. Young people are more interested in fashion design. D. Embroidery is becoming more popular than other arts. 35. How do some Guangxiu artists make this traditional art simple? A. By showing their embroidery works to the public. B. By designing modern embroidery courses for art schools. C. By sharing embroidery methods through short videos online. D. By recording traditional embroidery patterns with digital tools. 36. What is the writer’s attitude towards the future of Guangxiu? A. Doubtful. B. Hopeful. C. Worried. D. Satisfied. D 34. B 35. C 36. 【33题详解】 根据第二段“Young people found it too difficult and time-consuming, so fewer and fewer wanted to learn it.” 【34题详解】 根据第三段“One such artist is Chen Yushan, a 24-year-old designer who combines Guangxiu with fashion design. Her embroidered jackets and bags have become popular among young people.” 【35题详解】 根据第四段“On TikTok, some Guangxiu artists teach users basic embroidery skills through short videos step by step. ‘We want to make Guangxiu easy to understand for everyone,’ says one of the artists.” 【36题详解】 根据最后一段“By adding new ideas while protecting traditional skills, young artists are making sure that this thousand-year-old art form will continue for a long time.” B。 (D) In the heart of the Pacific Ocean lies a huge, floating “continent” made not of rock, but of rubbish. Known as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, it is a troubling symbol of our modern consumer culture. This “patch” is not a solid island you can walk on. Instead, it is a soup of tiny plastic pieces, fishing nets, and other waste, spread over an area of about 1.6 million square kilometers—twice the size of Texas. How did it get there, and what can be done? Most of the rubbish comes from land, like plastic bags, bottles, and packaging. These items are often blown by wind into rivers, which then carry them to the ocean. Ocean currents (洋流), like a giant moving belt, slowly pull this waste together into one area. This process has been happening for years. The patch now has about 1.8 trillion pieces of plastic, weighing around 79,000 tons. The biggest problem is that plastic does not break down naturally. Instead, sunlight and waves break it down into smaller and smaller pieces called microplastics (微塑料). About 94% of the plastic in the patch is microplastic. These tiny, harmful bits are easily mistaken for food by sea creatures, from tiny fish to huge whales. When a fish eats plastic, the harmful chemicals in the plastic enter its body. As larger fish eat these smaller fish, the chemicals travel up the food chain, finally reaching humans. This causes problems not only for sea life but also for human health. However, there is hope for positive change. The Ocean Cleanup has developed a large floating system designed to collect plastic from the patch. The system does not use nets that may harm sea life; it uses a U-shaped arm that is moved by the wind and waves, naturally concentrating the plastic. A support boat then comes to collect the rubbish. While technology offers a solution, the most important changes must happen on land. We should reduce our use of single-use plastics, improve waste management systems, and use less plastic when making products. These are important long-term plans. As one scientist says, “We can’t just clean up the mess; we have to turn off the tap.” The fight against ocean plastic is not just about cleaning the ocean, but about changing our habits to avoid the problem in the first place. 37. What is the best title for the passage? A. How Plastic Reaches the Sea. B. Helping Sea Animals in Danger. C. A Growing Problem in the Ocean. D. A New Way to Collect Ocean Waste. 38. Why does the floating system prefer to use a U-shaped arm? A. Because it can work without wind. B. Because it does not damage ocean life. C. Because it is cheap and easy to build. D. Because it can move fast in the ocean. 39. What does the phrase “turn off the tap” in the last paragraph suggest? A. We should stop the flow of plastic into the ocean. B. We should use less water while cleaning the ocean. C. We should invent a better way to recycle plastic. D. We should close down all factories near the sea. 40. Which of the following would the writer most likely agree with? A. Technology offers the most important solution to ocean plastic. B. The ocean itself is able to clean up the plastic waste over time. C. Cleaning up the ocean needs to be dealt with as quickly as possible. D. Stopping plastic from entering the ocean is as important as cleaning it. C 38. B 39. A 40. C选项“A Growing Problem in the Ocean”最能概括全文主旨。 【38题详解】 第四段明确指出:“The system does not use nets that may harm sea life; it uses a U-shaped arm that is moved by the wind and waves”,说明使用U形臂的原因是它不会像渔网那样伤害海洋生物。 【39题详解】 最后一段中,科学家说“We can’t just clean up the mess; we have to turn off the tap”,紧接着下一句解释:“The fight against ocean plastic is not just about cleaning the ocean, but about changing our habits to avoid the problem in the first place.” 【40题详解】 最后一段明确提出:“While technology offers a solution, the most important changes must happen on land”,并引用科学家的话强调不能只清理而要从源头解决。 Many students stay up late to study for exams, thinking that more hours of work will lead to better grades. ___41___ Getting enough sleep is actually one of the most important things students can do to improve their learning. When we sleep, our brains don’t just rest—they stay busy. ___42___ It decides what to keep and what to forget. Studies show that students who get a full night’s sleep after studying remember the material much better than those who stay awake. ___43___ Research suggests that teenagers need about 8 to 10 hours of sleep each night. However, many teens only get 6 to 7 hours. This “sleep debt” can cause serious problems. Students who don’t get enough sleep have more difficulty paying attention in class, solving problems, and controlling their emotions. Interestingly, the timing of sleep matters too. Studies have found that studying before bedtime can help memory. This is because sleep soon after learning helps strengthen the brain connections formed during study. On the other hand, staying up late to study is one of the worst study methods. ___44___ “Students who take sleep seriously often see their grades improve naturally,” says Dr. Li Wei, a sleep researcher. He adds, “___45___” So next time you have a big exam, remember: a good night’s sleep might be the best study tool you have. A. The teenage brain has special sleep needs. B. Lynde? A. A. Doubtful. B. Hopeful. C. Worried. D. Satisfied. (D) In the heart of the Pacific Ocean lies a huge, floating “continent” made not of rock, but of rubbish. Many students stay up late to study for exams, thinking that more hours of work will lead to better grades. B. During deep sleep, the brain processes and organizes the information we learned during the day. C. But science tells a different story. D. Sleep is not wasting time—it’s a key to better learning. E. Without sleep, the brain doesn’t have a chance to save what was learned. (每空限填一词) The 15th National Games was co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, which got great s___46___ from the public.
