However, some people are especially unhappy with one new AI invention: an actor named Tilly Norwood. Although Tilly hasn’t acted in any big movies or TV shows yet, the company that created her says she could be a star. Can an unreal character express human moods and be trusted on screen? Many people don’t believe it. There are also worries that AI actors could start appearing in films and TV shows instead of real actors. What do you think? Is the use of AI actors a good idea? Some think it a good idea. Making movies and TV shows can be really expensive. Using Al actors could save companies a lot of money. They wouldn’t have to pay expensive Hollywood stars. As a result, they could make more shows or films. Moreover, AI-created actors wouldn’t get tired or sick and could do things that real people couldn’t do with no risks of getting hurt. In fact, they could do almost everything that’s needed for a production, allowing filmmakers to create their movies with fewer limits. An AI actor could also be made to look like a certain character, which would be great for historical dramas about real people. Others don’t think it’s a good idea. Even though AI actors make an appearance, it doesn’t mean we should use them. Real actors have natural talent and work hard to learn their skills, yet they risk losing their jobs to computer programs. AI companies have also been charged with taking advantage of real actors. According to the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA, technology companies used the works of real skilled actors to train AI actors like Tilly. However, these actors didn’t agree or get paid. What’s more, Al actors look a little strange. It makes people worried when they know AI actors are not real and don’t feel real human moods. That makes the experience of watching a movie or show less enjoyable. 29. According to the passage, why do some people support AI actors? A. Because they cost less than real actors. B. Because they can show different moods. C. Because they are prettier than real actors. D. Because they can make good films alone. 30. What can you infer (推断) from the passage? A. A lot of real actors have lost their jobs. B. AI actors will work hard to learn the skills. C. AI actors have acted in big movies and shows. D. Companies will try to improve AI actors’ skills. 31. What is the best title for the passage? A. Opinions on AI Actors B. Risks Real Actors Meet C. Movie Production with Technology D. Differences between Real and AI Actors C “Oh no!” I searched my dance bag. “It’s not here.” I felt a little happy. However, Mom led me to borrow a pair of old shoes from Ms Linda. They were too big, but I had to join the practice with them. I felt worried when learning there were four practices left before the holiday program. Dancing was no longer fun for me. That evening, I told Mom I wanted to give it up and try piano or karate. I thought she would say, “Finish what you start.” Instead, Mom said, “I’m going to let you decide this time.” “Really?” I looked wide-eyed at Mom. “But what will your dance partner do if you give it up?” she asked. “She won’t mind,” I said. “I don’t think she even knows my name.” The next Friday, Grandma picked me up from school and told me she needed to check on her sick dog Mattie before taking me to dance class. “I’ve decided to give up,” I said. “I’d rather help with Mattie.” Grandma called Mom, then nodded at me, “OK.” Mattie slept all afternoon. It wasn’t much fun, but it was better than being onstage (在舞台上). During last year’s dance program, I could hardly breathe with many people looking at me. On Saturday, Grandma and I went to a wreath (花环) sale. While waiting in line, I saw a girl — my dance partner! “Hi.” My heart beat faster. The girl smiled. “Hi, Kami.” She did know my name! “Where were you yesterday?” “Um, my grandma’s dog was sick.” It felt a little like a lie. I wish I knew the girl’s name, I thought. “Sylvia,” her mom said, “will you wait here for a minute while I go check out those tools?” Right. Sylvia. I repeated the name in my head so I wouldn’t forget. “I’ll be glad when the program ends,” Sylvia said. “Being onstage makes me nervous. My grandmother pays for my lessons and is flying in from Colorado to watch the performance (表演). I’m afraid I’ll mess up.” “I get nervous too,” I said. “You’ll do great.” Over the next few days, I kept thinking about Sylvia and her grandmother. On Friday, Grandma picked me up. “Mattie’s better. Want to make cookies?” “In fact, I’m going to finish dance class,” I said. “I want to be there for Sylvia.” Grandma smiled. “Any idea where your shoes are?” I pulled one out. “This was under my bed, but I don’t remember where I put the other one.” 32. Kami was nervous about dancing in front of many people. D. Sylvia didn’t know Kami’s name before they met at the sale. D A new study has found that hedgehogs (刺猬) have quite amazing hearing. They can hear very high sounds that humans, cats and dogs can’t hear, according to the research. The researchers hope that special noise-making devices (设备) could be built to help keep hedgehogs away from roads. Hedgehog numbers are falling and cars are a big reason. A 2022 report found that hedgehog numbers in the British countryside had dropped by up to 75% in just over 20 years. It is thought that nearly a third of hedgehogs are killed by cars when crossing roads. Sophie Lund Rasmussen, from the University of Oxford, England, had the idea to build a sound device that could make hedgehogs scared and stay away from roads. However, she needed to know how good their hearing was first. Researchers worked with 20 hedgehogs from Danish wildlife rescue centres, studying how their brains replied to short periods of sounds. They found there was brain activity when hedgehogs heard frequencies (频率) between 4 and 85 kilohertz (kHz). The highest frequency people can hear is 20 kHz. Anything over it is in the ultrasonic range (超声波范围). Dogs can hear up to 45kHz and cats up to 65kHz. In other words, hedgehogs can hear super high noises that humans, dogs and cats can’t pick up. Rasmussen said more research was needed to work out exactly which sound drives hedgehogs away. Once they discover this, they could design a device that gives off an ultrasound noise. It could be fitted to cars and grass-cutting machines to drive hedgehogs away from roads, but be safe for humans and other pets. The test results also raise the possibility that hedgehogs are talking to each other with high sounds that are hidden from humans. “Imagine that in fact they’re chatting all the time and we just couldn’t hear it,” said Rasmussen. 36. What is Paragraph 2 mainly about? A. The hedgehogs’ fear of cars. B. The background of a research. C. Different ways to protect hedgehogs. D. The introduction to a scientist. 37. What is the highest frequency that hedgehogs are proved to hear in the study? A. 20 kHz. B. 45 kHz. C. 65 kHz. D. 85 kHz. 38. What does the underlined word “this” in Paragraph 4 refer to? A. The sound that drives hedgehogs away. B. The device that makes an ultrasound noise. C. The noise which brings trouble to most pets. D. The way to do more research about hedgehogs. 39. What does the writer probably talk about after the last paragraph? A. How hedgehogs communicate with each other. B. Why humans’ hearing is worse than hedgehogs’. C. What trouble ultrasound noise will bring to people. D. When a device will be used to search for hedgehogs. 40. What is the purpose of the passage? A. To explain why hedgehogs are getting fewer. B. To warn people to stay away from hedgehogs. C. To introduce the amazing hearing of hedgehogs. D. To show a study about hedgehogs and its possible use. 非选择题(共50分) 四、填空(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) A) 请根据括号中所给的汉语写出单词,使短文意思完整正确,并将答案填写在答题卡标号为41—45的相应横线上。 Have you ever tried to talk underwater? It is loved by the Hani and Yi groups and is mainly practiced in the villages of Honghe County, which is part of Honghe Hani and Yi areas in Yunnan Province. The name “Lezuo” means everyone dances together. This group dance form is special because it is open to all and can be changed easily. These qualities help it stay lively as a way to show cultural confidence and joy. The lezuo dance has a history of more than 100 years, and it has a deep connection to the customs of the Hani and Yi communities. In the past, it was a way for people to get together, especially during festivals, weddings and harvest celebrations. Over time, the dance has changed a little but kept its central meaning. The lezuo dance has no strict rules on when, where or how many people join. But it should obey this order: soft singing starts first, with a live band playing. Musicians don’t dance. They just sing happily to make the mood better. Next, dancers, usually in pairs (2, 4, 6, etc.), stand in a circle and move gently. They may stop a little, then do lively movements like clapping (拍手), passing each other or spinning — but keep the circle. Their dancing is soft: arms move like dragonflies’ wings, and knees bend (弯曲) with music. Different but matching steps show the special beauty of Hani and Yi cultures. The lezuo dance is very important to the Hani and Yi people. It is not only an art form but also a way for people to connect to each other and their communities. In history, it helped different groups live in peace in different areas of Yunnan. Its music and movements carry the shared history, traditions and hopes of the Hani and Yi people, expressing their rich culture and strong friendship. It is still popular in the areas where it comes from, but modern cultural influences and not enough efforts to protect it have put this art form in danger. If we take no action, fewer young people will learn it, and it may even disappear one day.
