一、语法精讲:状语从句(I)
[定义]
状语从句是由从属连词引导,在复合句中作状语的从句,用来说明主句动作发生的时间、地点、原因、目的等。
[分类与常用连词]
1. 时间状语从句:when, before, after等。如:We should turn off the lights when we leave the classroom.
2. 地点状语从句:where等。如:You can go where you want to go.
3. 原因状语从句:because, since等。如:He got a good score because he studied very hard.
4. 目的状语从句:so that等。如:He works hard so that he can get a skill certificate.
[构成规则]
主句 + 从属连词 + 从句;或 从属连词 + 从句,+ 主句。状语从句位于句首时,通常用逗号与主句隔开。
[易错点]
1. because不能与so连用:Because he was ill, he stayed at home. 不说Because he was ill, so he stayed at home.
2. when引导时间状语从句时,要注意主从句动作的时间关系。
3. so that表示目的,后面常含can, could, may等情态动词。
