Come Early and Avoid the Wait
Get here early to avoid a wait. I walked in around 11:00 a.m. and was seated right away. By the time I left, there was a line. I don’t believe there is really any meals worth a 2 — 3 hours’ wait. Peking roast duck of course, was delicious! So glad I came here and it didn’t disappoint me!
Good but Not Worth the Wait
We went to this restaurant twice, but the wait was over 2 hours. The third time, we really wanted to try it. Get there early to avoid the long wait (we arrived at 4:00 pm). The price is very reasonable for a whole duck considering how good the quality is. Highly recommended visiting Minfu if you want to have a memorable roast duck experience.
Rest Roast Duck Ever
The roast duck here is the best I have ever had. Several of the other dishes were also excellent, for example, the eggplant rolls. The restaurant was also very helpful in looking for my hat which I left there. But the wait in line is very long (almost 4 hours for us). Finally, the cost was not expensive for such a high quality meal.
26. According to the text, what percent of the customers think the restaurant is excellent?
A. About 10%. B. About 25%. C. About 30%. D. About 60%.
27. From Ah J’s experience, we can draw a conclusion that ______.
A. the restaurant offers friendly and helpful service
B. the eggplant rolls taste better than the roast duck
C. he enjoyed a high quality meal without waiting long
D. he thinks the cost of the meal is too high
28. The three reviewers all think that in Minfu Restaurant ______.
A. the price is very high for the meal
B. Peking roast duck is worth trying
C. the eggplant rolls are also delicious
D. there is a long wait all the time
29. People who want to ______ will most probably be interested in the information above.

China’s Space Day: A Journey to the Stars

Lisa stood next to her tall silent grandfather and watched her parents drive off, leaving her behind. She looked up at her grandfather. He looked down at her. His skin was a little darker than hers. His hair was black and white, as if it couldn’t decide which color it should be.
“You don’t talk much, Grandpa,” Lisa said.
“You don’t visit much, Lisa,” her grandfather replied.
They stood looking at each other. “Come with me, Lisa,” said Grandpa. He started walking without looking back.
Lisa followed him to a large storehouse.
Lisa remembered her last visit to Grandpa’s. She had played hide-and-seek with her brother Jack in the storehouse. But now Jack needed an operation. Lisa had to stay here alone for a few days.
“You coming?” Grandpa’s voice sounded muffled. His words were coming from inside the storehouse.
Lisa went inside. The storehouse was full of all kinds of things. She could see him in the far corner. Lisa walked over and stood next to him. He pointed to a small wooden box with “Lisa” painted on it in bright green letters.
“Yours,” he said.
Lisa bent down and opened it. In it were some old things — a bright blue feather, a tiny V-shape leaf and some dolls. She looked up at Grandpa, with tears in her eyes.
“The box stays here, but it belonged to you. No one else.” Then he closed his eyes and smiled. His smile reminded Lisa of her father. Grandpa no longer seemed strange and silent.
“I may be so overcapitalized (过剩),” Lisa answered, carefully pronouncing the familiar word.
Grandpa laughed out loud. “How did that eight-year-old brain of yours find its way around a big word like ‘overcapitalized’?” “It’s my dad’s favourite word,” Lisa replied.
Grandpa looked down at Lisa and smiled. His smile again reminded Lisa of her father. Without thinking, she reached up and took Grandpa’s hand. Lisa’s hand felt small and safe inside her grandfather’s.
“I might need more than one visit to my box,” Lisa said seriously.

①Do you yawn? There are about 20 reasons that scientists think are possible for yawning after research. They don’t know exactly why yawning happens, but they do know many facts about yawning.
②We know that everyone yawns in the same way. First you open your mouth slowly. Your mouth stays open for about five seconds. You take in a lot of air and then push it out. Then you quickly close your mouth. We also know that yawning is contagious. When you see someone yawn, you yawn, too.
③Many people say they yawn because they’re bored or tired. That might be true. However, we know that people also yawn when they’re excited or nervous. Olympic runners, for example, often yawn before a race. Why is that? In 2007, scientists found that a yawn can help a warm brain cool down.
④Some scientists believe that yawning makes you notice things more quickly. When you yawn, you breathe deeply. You also stretch (伸展) the muscles (肌肉) in your face, mouth, and neck. Your eardrums stretch, too. Maybe this helps you to be quicker to notice things.
⑤In some countries, people think yawning isn’t nice. People put their hands over their mouths to cover a yawn. In other countries, people think yawning is healthy. They think that opening the mouth very big can let good things in. When they breathe out, they think that bad things go out of the body with the air.
⑥Scientists don’t spend much time studying yawning. That is probably because yawning does not hurt. It’s just something we do.
41. According to the passage, which of the following is the correct order of a yawn?
a. Close your mouth quickly. b. Open your mouth slowly.
c. Push the air out. d. Take in a lot of air.
A. b-c-d-a B. b-d-c-a C. d-b-c-a D. d-c-b-a
42. What does the underlined word “contagious” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. Able to spread quickly. B. Able to breathe easily.
C. Able to change easily. D. Able to sleep quickly.
43. Why do Olympic runners often yawn before a race according to the passage?
A. They feel very bored before the race.
B. They yawn to calm down and cool their brains.
C. They want to get more air to run faster.
D. They are too nervous to remember how to breathe.
44. What would be the best structure of the passage?
A. B. C. D.
45. Which is the best title for the passage?
A. Different reasons for yawning B. Advantages of yawning
C. Facts and opinions about yawning D. Best ways to stop yawning in public

Inner painting is a traditional art in China and a national intangible cultural heritage (国家级非物质文化遗产). Artists use special thin brushes to paint on the inside of glass bottles. The bottles are very small, so the brushes must be thin enough to go in.
These small works of art often have deep meanings. The pictures on them show people’s wishes for good luck and a happy life. The most popular designs are landscapes, flowers and birds. Many people collect these small bottles and keep them at home. They are also given as gifts to bring good wishes and joy.
Making an inner painting needs great skills. Artists must carefully paint through the bottle’s narrow neck. They paint in a special order — starting with the closest things and putting backgrounds together later. This is opposite to the usual way. When people look from the outside, the painting looks right. Artists also need to be careful and patient. A single mistake means starting all over again. That’s a complete restart. “It’s very difficult, you know, like drawing a straight line even when the ground is shaking violently (剧烈的),” one artist said. Most artists spend 2 to 3 years just practicing basic lines, carefully repeating the same strokes over and over again.
Inner painting has cultural value, but it faces problems today. Fewer young people are interested in it. The market is limited, and very few people come to learn it. Luckily, artists are trying to bring it closer to our daily life. It is now used on everyday things like tea sets. A new brush has been invented to make painting quicker. Young artists also share their skills on social media. Li Mei, for example, showed her inner painting online and got over 500,000 followers. She said, “We hope people respect it as a heritage, and that it can stay alive in everyday life.” Artists also hope that schools will offer inner painting courses for young people in the near future.

Use Wisely, Grow Better
Nowadays, AI plays an important role in our daily study. It acts as a quiet teacher and helps us solve plenty of learning problems.
I used to be weak in English pronunciation and had trouble understanding difficult math knowledge. Luckily, AI brings me great help. It can listen to my oral English and correct my mistakes patiently. Besides, it explains hard math points in simple ways and provides useful exercises for me. With its help, my grades have improved little by little and I become more confident in study.
In my opinion, AI is a powerful learning tool. As students, we should make good use of it instead of depending on it completely. Only by thinking independently and using AI wisely can we keep growing better.
