Rick Hoyt is American. He is in a wheelchair (轮椅) because he has cerebral palsy when he was born. As a result, Rick couldn’t walk or talk, and he has little hope to live a “normal” life.
However, he never gave up trying and studying, he learnt to use a computer to communicate (沟通) with people. When he was 15, he told his father that he wanted to join a 5-mile running race. With the help of his father, they made it in the race.
Rick is a happy and successful man. He has a job at Boston College, and he works in computer studies. Rick loves sports and he takes part in triathlons (铁人三项).
In a triathlon, people swim 4 kilometres, cycle 180 kilometres and then run a marathon, 42 kilometres. Rick can’t run, cycle or swim. How can he take part in a triathlon?
