店员推荐商品“How about this one?”
上文顾客说“That’s too expensive.”

We spent a whole weekend preparing the soil and planting seeds (种子). Every Saturday morning, we ____8____ the plants, held them up, and cut grass. Two weeks went by, and nothing changed. Just as the plants grew taller, a terrible ____11____ hit our town. Strong winds and heavy rain broke several plants. I was heartbroken, thinking all our effort was wasted. But my uncle didn’t ____12____. He said storms are part of life and we must be brave. It took us all afternoon to fix the broken branches (枝条) and add more soil.
Weeks later, we ____13____ the sweetest tomatoes. Eating a juicy tomato, I realized growing plants is much like growing up. ____14____ difficulties are common in life, learning to get back up makes us stronger.
根据后文“make his delicious tomato salad”及“the sweetest tomatoes”可知,种的是番茄tomatoes。
根据“just digging in the soil”可知,作者起初认为劳作简单单调,故觉得无聊,boring“无聊的”符合语境。
根据“It took us all afternoon to fix the broken branches (枝条) and add more soil.”
根据后文“the sweetest tomatoes.
根据首句“I have never been a patient person”及全文主旨,作者学会了耐心,不再没耐心,impatient“没有耐心的”符合文章主旨。

When Mr. Dow, our teacher, told us about a group project to create a brochure (小册子) for the school’s 100th anniversary (周年纪念日), I was filled with excitement. But my joy didn’t last long.
I was grouped with Jake, a photography lover, and Lily, who had a talent for writing. Our first meeting was a complete failure. Jake kept talking about cameras and his photos. I looked to Lily for help, but she just said, “This project sounds boring.” Jake agreed with Lily.
At the second meeting, things got even worse. Jake didn’t collect materials for the project as he promised. Lily hadn’t even started her research. I felt like I was the only one making an effort. So I decided to do it alone.
However, no matter how hard I tried, the result wasn’t good. My mom noticed I was upset. She told me, “My boy, you can’t finish this alone. Jake and Lily have skills that can make the project great. You just need to find a way to work with them.”
With only three days left, I came up with an idea. I suggested putting Lily’s stories and Jake’s photos together in the brochure. Surprisingly, they liked the idea. Jake took photos of every part of the school, Lily wrote stories about the school’s history, and I arranged the information.
On the final day, we presented our result in class. Lily’s stories touched everyone, and Jake totally showed the beauty of our school with the photos. Mr. Dow laughed and said, “I’m really impressed (印象深刻的). You’ve shown the true spirit of our school.” Hearing the cheers from our classmates, we felt very proud.

C. He decided to give up making the brochure.

In Jingdezhen, China’s famous “Porcelain (瓷器) Capital,” scientists are doing something amazing. They’re using modern technology to understand and recreate ancient ceramics (制陶术). How cool is that?
One of their projects is the Ancient Ceramics Gene Bank. Researchers collect broken pieces of old porcelain—yes, even “rubbish”!—and study them with high-technology tools. And then each piece is given a “digital ID”. This helps them learn how the old masters made their art. A broken piece of a duck-shaped incense burner (香炉) even became a cute cartoon character called “Suisui Duck”!
But that’s not all. Some people in Jingdezhen use 3D printers to make ceramics. In the past, making a porcelain vase (花瓶) needed 72 steps and took up to 15 days. Now, with a 3D printer, you can finish a piece in just 3 hours! This means artists can create wild shapes that were impossible before.
A young designer named Liang Liwen has an even cooler idea. His family has made ceramics for three generations (几代人). Now he makes ceramic material! He creates very thin porcelain pieces—only 0.4 mm thick—and joins them with cloth to make beautiful dresses. His designs have appeared in London and Milan Fashion Weeks!
These stories show that old traditions and new technology can work together. Science is not just for labs — it can help us keep our culture alive in exciting new ways.
26. Why do researchers collect broken pieces of old porcelain?
A. To turn them into cartoon characters.
B. To learn how old masters made their art.
C. To sell them to museums for money.
27. What is the main difference between traditional ceramics making and using 3D printers?
A. 3D printers cannot make vases.
B. Traditional methods are much cheaper.
C. Traditional methods take more time and more steps.
28. What does the underline word “them” in Paragraph 4 refer to?
A. Thin porcelain pieces. B. Beautiful dresses. C. His designs.
29. According to the passage, what might happen in Jingdezhen in the future?
A. People will stop making ceramics by hand.
B. People will use ceramic dresses to replace all normal clothing.
C. People will mix traditional ceramics with more creative thoughts.
30. Which is the best title for this passage?
A. The Long History of Jingdezhen Porcelain
B. Liang Liwen: A Young Designer from Jingdezhen
C. Old Art, New Tech: Keeping Ceramic Culture Alive
B 27. C 28. A 29. C 30. C

根据原文第二段“This helps them learn how the old masters made their art.”
根据原文第三段“In the past, making a porcelain vase (花瓶) needed 72 steps and took up to 15 days. Now, with a 3D printer, you can finish a piece in just 3 hours!”
原文第四段“He creates very thin porcelain pieces—only 0.4 mm thick—and joins them with cloth to make beautiful dresses.”
根据原文第五段“These stories show that old traditions and new technology can work together.”

Imagine that a cool bamboo-like grass can be used to make green energy. Scientists at Landuo Biotech, a business in Wuhan, have created one such plant recently. They named it “super giant reed” (超级芦竹).
Since 2012, the Landuo team have collected over 1,000 wild giant reeds for experiments. As a result, more than 40 kinds of super giant reeds have been “born”. In the Landuo’s factory, hundreds of young reeds are grown in glass bottles. Fully grown, super giant reeds are cut and put in a special place without O2. The Landuo team heat them up to make natural gas, which can then be used as energy.
Super giant reeds are well-suited for growing on some land like beaches, wetlands and salty lands. Once a reed is planted, it can be cut and used many times during the next 15 to 20 years. By the end of 2024, over 3,300 hectares (公顷) of super giant reeds had been planted across 53 areas in China.
Growing super giant reeds helps a lot. Planting 13,000 hectares of them can produce 0.45 to 1.5 million tons of fuel (燃料) a year. 40 million hectares of super giant reeds can be used instead of 2.2 billion (1 billion = 1,000 million) tons of coal and can cut CO2 emissions (排放) by 4 billion tons in China every year.
What’s more, thanks to the scientists’ efforts, super giant reeds have biomass (生物量) over three times that of wild giant reed. They also have much more energy. So, the super giant reeds are good for taking the place of fossil fuels
At present, China is developing this new energy source — super giant reeds.
