Recently, Chinese scientists introduced a tiny drone (无人机) that looks just like a mosquito. This little robot was made to watch places secretly, and it has caught wide attention after being shown on CCTV 7, China Central Television’s military (军事的) channel.
What makes this drone special? First, its appearance—flapping wings and legs as thin as hair—makes it almost impossible to tell apart from real insects. Second, its tiny size gives it amazing abilities: it can slip into almost any space, from narrow gaps to crowded rooms, without being noticed. Though it was mostly made for military spy (侦探) work, many people think it could also be used by the government for public monitoring.
Let’s talk about its details. The drone was only 1.3 cm long—about the size of a grain of rice—and could be controlled easily with a smartphone. It had leaf-shaped wings, three small legs, and flew much more quietly than bigger drones. Its creators say it’s so well-hidden that even careful observers might miss it. Plus, it can do many tasks: for example, flying into disaster zones too dangerous or hard for humans to reach, or checking air quality when equipped with small sensors (传感器).
Of course, this “mosquito drone” isn’t perfect. While its small size is its biggest strength, it’s also a weakness. Because it’s so tiny, its battery (电池) doesn’t last long—maybe just a few minutes. And since it can’t carry heavy things, it can only use a few simple sensors or tools at a time.
All in all, this invention shows how Chinese scientists are using advanced technology to create smart tools. Maybe in the future, such small drones will help with rescue work, environmental checks, or even daily tasks—though we’ll have to wait and see how they’re used!
21. Why is the small size of the drone both an advantage and a disadvantage?
A. It can fly fast but cannot fly high
B. It can enter small spaces but has short battery life
C. It works quietly but costs too much money
D. It carries many sensors but breaks easily
22. Which of the following is NOT the function of the mosquito drone?
A. Monitoring public places
B. Searching dangerous disaster areas
C. Killing harmful insects in the wild
D. Testing local air quality
23. What is the main idea of the whole passage?
A. The disadvantages of all kinds of small drones
B. The introduction of China’s mosquito-like tiny drone
C. Different ways to control modern smart drones
D. The history of military drone development

This summer, “picking wild mushrooms on Cangshan Mountain in Dali” has become a hot online trend, attracting a large number of tourists.
During the summer holidays, many short videos and photos about “picking mushrooms in Dali” became very popular on platforms like Douyin and Xiaohongshu. These posts showed people picking mushrooms and taking pictures. Some people even charged money (from tens to hundreds of yuan) to guide tourists, providing tools or even helping them cook the mushrooms.
On Sunday, the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture government announced, “We will check the area carefully and do not allow any illegal (非法的) activities or mushroom-picking that is harmful to the environment.”
In Yanghe village, some forests that were once full of plants have been walked on so much that the ground is now bare. Environmental volunteers and experts say that careless mushroom picking has already damaged the natural ecosystem (生态系统).
Wang Bin, an environmental volunteer, explained, “When people dig through the ground, the mycelium (菌丝) is exposed to sunlight and dies. Then, it cannot grow back or produce more mushrooms in the future.” Experts also say that if the mushrooms' growing environment is destroyed, it could take 5 to 10 years for them to return.
Wild mushrooms are very important because they help break down tough materials like lignin (木质素) in dead leaves and branches. They also help other plants and fungi (真菌) grow. Mushrooms are food for insects and small animals.
Experts said, “Mushrooms are decomposers. Without them, dead plants in the forest cannot rot (腐烂) easily, and trees may get sick more easily.”
Now, because low-altitude mushrooms are becoming rare, people are going higher up the mountain. Some even enter restricted nature reserves (保护区). The government says they will punish illegal activities.

A. take action against illegal mushroom picking
B. allow guided tours in the whole area
C. encourage tourists to pick mushrooms

A. Mushroom-picking is very safe.
B. The ecosystem can recover quickly.
C. Digging is harmful to mushroom growth.
D. Tourists know how to protect mushrooms.
30. According to the passage, “decomposers” can ______.
A. eat hard living plants in the forests
B. break down dead leaves and branches
C. grow in wet areas or under the dead plants
D. produce food for insects and small animals
31. What is the writer’s attitude toward the mushroom-picking in Dali?
A. Supportive.
B. Uncaring.
C. Worried.
D. Hopeful.

“Oh no! It’s not here!” Kami said as she checked her dance bag before her dance class on Friday.
“What’s not here, Kami?” her mom asked outside the dance studio.
“My other dance shoe! I must have left it at home,” Kami said.
Thinking that she would have to skip(不参加) the practice, she felt a little happy. After all, the class would be halfway over if she went back for the shoe.
“Only four practices before the program. Ms. Linda has old shoes for you,” Mom said.
Kami had to wear a big pair of shoes to the class, and everyone noticed her loose(宽松的) shoes. She hated the dance, for it was much harder than she had thought.
That night, she said to Mom, “I want to stop dancing and learn the piano instead.” She thought Mom would refuse, so she was surprised when Mom said, “I’ll let you decide this time.”
“But what will your dance partner do if you stop?” Mom asked.
“She won’t mind. I don’t think she even knows my name,” Kami replied.
Next Friday, Kami offered to look after Grandma’s dog to get out of practice. It was boring, but better than being on stage.
On Saturday, Kami met her dance partner while shopping.
“Hi,” she greeted, with her heart beating fast and her voice shaking.
“Hi, Kami. Where were you yesterday?” the girl smiled.
Kami explained about the dog quickly, not daring to look into the girl’s eyes. She heard the girl’s mom call her Sylvia. Kami kept the name in mind at once.
“I like dance, but I’m nervous to perform,” Sylvia said. “My grandma is flying here to watch me, and I’m afraid I'll mess up.”
“I get nervous too, but you’ll do well,” Kami said.
In the next few days, Kami kept thinking about Sylvia and her grandma. When Mom picked her up the next Friday, Kami said, “Actually, I’ll finish my dance class. I want to be there for Sylvia at the program.”
Mom smiled, “Good. Where are your dance shoes?”
Kami pulled one out of her bag. “This was under my bed. Now I need to find the other one!”
32. Why was Kami happy at the beginning of the story?
A. Because she got a new pair of dance shoes.
B. Because she found her missing dance shoe.

33. How might Kami feel when meeting her dance partner?
A. Excited.
B. Nervous.

When it comes to an English speech competition, many students only care about pronunciation, body language, eye contact(接触) and appearance. 36 The key to winning an English speech competition is to express clear and true ideas to make your words sound more natural.
One speech includes three parts: an introduction, a body, and a conclusion(总结). Each part is designed to do something different. 37 For example, you can tell a short story or ask a simple question.
The body of the speech is where the speaker gives supporting ideas and explains his or her main points clearly. You’d better use only 3 to 5 main points, no matter how long your speech is. 38 Make sure each point is easy to understand and well explained.
The conclusion is important because it’s where you express your main ideas again and leave a deep impression(印象) on your listeners. 39 For example, in a speech about reading, you can end with “Let’s read more and grow better together.”
40 Then, please believe that you will do well and succeed in the English speech competition.
根据材料内容,从下面五个选项中选出能填入文中空缺处的最佳选项,使文章意思通顺、内容完整。
A. These are helpful, but not the most important.
B. You can end by encouraging listeners to take action.
C. The introduction should catch the listeners’ attention.

第四部分 写作(共两节,满分30分)
第一节(共5小题;满分10分)
阅读下面短文,按照题目要求用英语回答问题,并将答案写到答题卡的相应位置。
Many people ask me “What’s the best way to learn?” To tell the truth, there isn’t one correct answer. Different people have different learning styles. Here are some of them.
Some people learn by rules. They need rules and explanations to understand new materials. Once they find a rule and use it, they’ll learn better. However, some other people prefer learning by doing. These people will learn better if they have the chance to use their hands or body. They don’t like explanations. They remember better if they do a task rather than just reading about it.
Some people learn by seeing or hearing. For those who learn by seeing, they can understand better once they see a picture, a table, or a real object. Pictures or photos help them remember new material. When they try to remember the information, they will remember the picture or photo first. For those who learn by hearing, they like to listen to sounds and voices rather than just see or read. It is difficult for them to remember the information unless they listen to someone talking about it.
Some people prefer to learn alone while other people like to learn with others. For those who prefer to learn on their own, they won’t feel comfortable unless they study by themselves in a quiet room. For those who like to learn with others, they like to work in groups and discuss the subject with other people in order to understand it better.
Understanding your learning style can be very useful. If you know how you learn best, you can choose the right study methods. This means __________, and that is a great step towards success.

28. From Paragraph 3 we can know the government will ______.
A. take action against illegal mushroom picking
B. allow guided tours in the whole area
C. encourage tourists to pick mushrooms
D. help tourists cook mushrooms
29. What can we infer from what Wang Bin said?
