It’s a time for friends and family to gather for food, chatter and arguments. But some people living on the edge of society miss that special connection. Meir Kalmanson thought they should get to celebrate the big day. So, on a cold February Sunday in 2017, as he hurried to his friend’s Super Bowl party, he invited six homeless men he met on the street into his car to join him. As expected, the men were a bit cautious. But Kalmanson has a sincere and born good nature that puts people at ease. Watch the game? Get food to fill an empty belly? Of course! Over burgers, chicken wings and soda, and dressed in New England Patriots jerseys, Kalmanson and his homeless guests watched the game. Kalmanson describes the scene as “warm, exciting energy. Conversation flowed. We were on the seats, cheering, and laughing.” “We were part of a bigger party that was happening,” says Kalmanson. “So, if you walked in, you couldn’t tell who was homeless and who wasn’t.” As a result, “the men felt that they were part of something. They had their dignity restored.” For that evening, they were no longer outsiders. They belonged. The Super Bowl party was not just a one-off. The next year Kalmanson set up the charitable organization: Super Soul Parties. With the help of a volunteer network and homeless shelters, Kalmanson organizes the gatherings and provides rides for guests on game days in cities around the country. Last year, more than 2,000 homeless men and women in 36 cities watched the Los Angeles Rams take the Cincinnati Bengals. Homeless people now have access to new clothing and barbers, as well as mental health therapists and affordable housing organizations. Families are also welcome. Ultimately, Super Soul Parties are more than a sporting event. They’re opportunities to bring awareness to the hardship of the homeless while making them feel a part of a larger community. 1.What happened when Kalmanson headed for the Super Bowl party? A.He came across some friends. B.He missed his car. C.He had some street men join him. D.He chatted with his friends. 2.Why did the men accept Kalmanson’s invitation? A.Because they trusted his sincerity and kindness. B.Because they wanted to escape the cold weather. C.Because they expected to be accepted by society. D.Because they desired to follow the Super Bowl tradition. 3.What is the main idea of paragraph 5 ? A.Kalmanson helps homeless shelters transport guests. B.Super Soul Parties offer shelters throughout the country. C.Kalmanson turns the party into a national charity in 36 cities. D.Super Soul Parties host parties for the homeless nationwide. 4.Which of the following words best describe Kalmanson? A.Kind and thoughtful. B.Daring and demanding. C.Humble and creative. D.Easygoing and forgiving. 【答案】1.C 2.A 3.D 4.A 【导语】这是一篇记叙文。 根据第二段中“So, on a cold February Sunday in 2017, as he hurried to his friend’s Super Bowl party, he invited six homeless men he met on the street into his car to join him.( 因此,在2017年2月一个寒冷的周日,当他匆匆赶往朋友的超级碗派对时,他邀请了六个在街上遇到的无家可归的人上车和他一起)”可知,当 Kalmanson 前往超级碗派对时,他邀请了六个在街上遇到的无家可归的人加入他。故选C项。 2. 根据第二段中“But Kalmanson has a sincere and born good nature that puts people at ease. Watch the game? Get food to fill an empty belly? Of course!( 但Kalmanson有一种真诚和天生的善良,让人放松。看比赛?吃东西填饱肚子?当然!)”可推知,这些人接受Kalmanson的邀请是因为信任他的真诚和善良,让他们感到自在。故选A项。 3. 根据第五段“The Super Bowl party was not just a one-off. Noticing that the door was open, she entered the library, and was astonished to see the heartwarming scene that people were using it like on a regular day. It was scheduled to be closed for the New Year holiday. The people in the library behaved as usual. Many were reading newspapers, some families were in the children’s section and others were searching for books on the computer. It seemed that Elf’s colleagues had simply forgotten to lock the door, and because this popular library is usually open on Saturdays, visitors just assumed they could walk in. After checking with her staff team, Elf announced to the people present that the library was about to close. Then she expressed her regret for what had been done wrong and caused them a problem. It later turns out that 446 locals visited the city library, borrowing a total of 246 books during the day. What’s remarkable is that people checked out their books through the library’s electronic self-service system, and that to date, all the books have been returned! Many Swedes have reacted positively to this uplifting demonstration of local respect for the library, a center that can be seen as a sign of the community, and what the locals did has strengthened their sense of belonging in their community. Elf says, “Nothing was destroyed. It’s amazing that Gothenburgers entered an empty library and treated it so lovingly.” The city leader has even suggested that this unusual Saturday serve as an accidental experiment to analyse the possibility of operating a totally automated library without staff. 1.Why did Elf feel surprised after entering the library? A.The library staff were in it. B.People kept reading on holidays. C.People came in without permission. D.It was in use though supposed to be closed. 2.What did Elf do that Saturday? A.She left the library open B.She asked the staff back. C.She apologized to the visitors. D.She read books in the library. 3.What do many Swedes think of the behavior of Gothenburg locals? A.It displays community spirit. B.It gives the library much uplift. C.It is a positive reaction to society. D.It strengthens trust between people. 4.What does the author want to convey through the story? A.People tend to show care for others. B.Life is always full of the unexpected. C.Libraries must be automated in the future. D.A library can bring out the best in people. 【答案】1.D 2.C 3.A 4.D 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了一次意外中,哥德堡市图书馆在假期未关闭,市民自觉使用图书馆的故事。 1.细节理解题。根据第一段“Noticing that the door was open, she entered the library, and was astonished to see the heartwarming scene that people were using it like on a regular day. It was there, in the corner behind the old suitcase, that I made a fascinating discovery—a shoebox filled with old letters. These letters, tied together with a faded ribbon, were a collection of conversations between my grandmother and her friends from past time. The dusty smell of aged paper and ink filled the air, transporting me to a time when communication was a deliberate and heartfelt act. In an age where a simple text or email can convey our thoughts, these letters served as a deeply touching reminder of the depth and meaning that can be found in the written word. They were more than just messages; they were pieces of a life, snapshots of a time, and most importantly, they were a bridge between the past and the present, between my grandmother’s generation and my own. With the letters safely back in their resting place, I made a quiet promise to myself—to pick up pen and paper more often, to write not just messages, but little pieces of history that future generations might one day cherish. In a world racing towards the future, it’s the old letters that remind us to slow down, to appreciate the moment, and to write our own stories with care. And perhaps, one day, someone will find my letters and experience the same joy of discovery, the same sense of connection across the years. For now, the attic holds not just boxes of old letters but also the promise of stories yet to be told. 1.What does the author consider the letters to be? A.Simple messages from the past. B.Bridges between different generations. C.Outdated communication methods. D.Unimportant things of past time. 2.What personal resolution does the author make after reflecting on the letters? A.To clean the attic of unnecessary items. B.To digitize all family letters for preservation. C.To learn more about the history of the family. D.To write more frequently to maintain connections. 3.What message does the author want to convey? A.Every family has a story to tell. B.The future is full of uncertainty. C.Old letters carry voices from the past. D.The pen is stronger than the sword. 4.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text? A.Treasure in Letters B.The Story of My Family C.Digital Distraction D.The Power of Pen and Ink 【答案】1.B 2.D 3.C 4.A 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。主要讲述了作者在阁楼上无意间发现存放一箱箱的旧信件,这些信件提醒我们放慢脚步,珍惜当下,用心书写我们自己的故事。 1.细节理解题。根据文章第三段“They were more than just messages; they were pieces of a life, snapshots of a time, and most importantly, they were a bridge between the past and the present, between my grandmother’s generation and my own. (它们不仅仅是信息;它们是生活的片段,是一个时代的快照,最重要的是,它们是连接过去和现在、连接我祖母那一代人和我这一代人的桥梁)”可知,作者认为信件是不同代人之间的桥梁。故选B。 2.细节理解题。根据文章第四段“With the letters safely back in their resting place, I made a quiet promise to myself—to pick up pen and paper more often, to write not just messages, but little pieces of history that future generations might one day cherish. (当这些信件被安全地放回它们的安息地时,我悄悄地对自己承诺——要经常拿起笔和纸,不仅要写信息,还要写一些未来几代人可能会珍惜的历史片段)”可知,作者决定多写信以保持联系。故选D。 3.推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“In a world racing towards the future, it’s the old letters that remind us to slow down, to appreciate the moment, and to write our own stories with care. (在一个奔向未来的世界里,正是这些古老的信件提醒我们放慢脚步,珍惜当下,用心书写我们自己的故事)”可知,作者认为旧信承载着过去的声音。故选C。 4.主旨大意题。根据文章最后一段“In a world racing towards the future, it’s the old letters that remind us to slow down, to appreciate the moment, and to write our own stories with care. And perhaps, one day, someone will find my letters and experience the same joy of discovery, the same sense of connection across the years. Her calm personality and rich knowledge of the sport are the perfect recipe for success, as Brauer serves as a leading figure in this industry. The 29-year-old began the Global Solo Challenge departing from A Coruna, Spain, in October 2023. Finally, she made her way back to land in March 2024, aboard her boat named First Light. This competition is for sailors who desire a challenge to sail around the sea, sharpening their skills with each wave they leave behind them. Throughout her months at sea, Brauer was not frightened by the wildly unpredictable behaviors of Mother Nature. She worked tirelessly towards achieving her incredible achievement. Along the way, the determined competitor recorded her 130-day journey at sea on Instagram. In addition to documenting her experiences, Brauer also educated her viewers on various sailing terms and the application of different sailing techniques. For example, she references the term “reefing” the sail. This means to lower your sail to accommodate increases in wind, allowing the boat to maintain a manageable speed that allows its captain to have more controlled steering (驾驶) . As a former student of the University of Hawaii, Brauer achieved many academic and athletic achievements. From earning the 2017 Jack Bonham Award for academic and athletic performance to being a part of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association Academic All-American Team twice, she continued to raise the bar. And with this latest challenge, Brauer had opportunities to improve her skills in the unique backdrop of the Pacific Ocean. As she sailed from Spain to South Africa and Australia, Brauer finally crossed the Atlantic Ocean back to her starting point — A Coruna. Her dedicated spirit, enthusiasm for life, and desire to inspire young women to pursue their dreams shone through her expedition. 1.What’s the key to Brauer’s success? A.Her good luck and previous experience. B.Her academic background and desire for success. C.Her willingness to challenge and love for adventure. D.Her calm personality and deep understanding of sailing. 2.What did Brauer do during the competition? A.She doubted her sailing skills occasionally. B.She documented her sea journey on Instagram. C.She predicted behaviors of Mother Nature successfully. D.She controlled the speed based on viewers' techniques. 3.What can we infer from the last two paragraphs? A.The Atlantic Ocean was easy to sail through. B.Sailing skills were enhanced during the voyage. C.Brauer dropped out of the University of Hawaii. The pair discussed their careers and teamwork with Scholastic Kids Press. Telgemeier is the creator of many bestsellers, including Smile, Guts, and Drama. She shared why graphic novels are such an attractive form to kids. “Kids are more visual. They see a character’s facial expression and understand what he feels without an explanation. A graphic novel can help them relate to what they see on the page and see a character develop,” she states. In fact, the Scholastic Kids & Family Reading Report continually confirms that kids are increasingly turning to graphic novel and comic book forms. Since 2018, the number of kids who say they want to read graphic novels has risen from 22% to 37%, and the creators intend to follow this trend and continue satisfying the need. McCloud discusses how cartoons unexpectedly became the perfect mixture of his common interests. “I always drew and had ideas for writing. A friend of mine in middle school convinced me to give cartoons a try. One day, I went to him and said, ‘I’m going to be a picture-book artist. ‘I don’t know what exactly inspired me. It just happened,” he says. Telgemeier explains how her childhood diary inspired her to become an author. “I drew and wrote in my diary every day. I was already telling stories about my life, but had no readers. I didn’t realize what I was doing was writing. Once I figured that out, I realized writing graphic novels is exactly what I want to do!” McCloud states he’s most similar to the character Art in The Cartoonists Club. Just like Art, McCloud feels there’s a great beauty in mistakes. He highlights the importance of writing with genuine interest. “Don’t be afraid to make mistakes or be yourself. Often, authors try to do something they think other people will like. It’s important to begin by doing something you enjoy and care about because, at the very least, you’ll always have one loyal reader — yourself.” 1.What makes graphic novels appealing according to Telgemeier? A.They take less time to read. B.They simplify complex storylines. C.They contain more illustrations than text. D.They allow emotional interpretation through imagery. 2.What can be inferred about the trend in children’s reading preferences? A.The demand for comic books has doubled. B.Fewer kids are interested in traditional books. C.Publishers are adapting to the changing interests. D.The development of social media plays a key part. 3.How did McCloud and Telgemeier become cartoonists? A.They were inspired by famous comic artists. B.They received professional training at art school. C.They felt encouraged after winning competitions. D.They developed the skills through creative practices. 4.What does McCloud emphasize for authors? A.Prioritizing self-expression over perfection. B.Focusing on market trends to ensure success. C.Learning from others’ mistakes in the field. D.Cooperating with friends to stay motivated. 【答案】1.D 2.C 3.D 4.A 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了两位畅销漫画家分享儿童偏爱漫画形式的原因、创作灵感来源,并强调真诚和兴趣对创作的关键作用。 1.细节理解题。根据第二段中Telgemeier所说““Kids are more visual. If we looked outside right now, he said, we’d see a beautiful sea of icebergs in the golden sunlight. My sister and I jumped out of bed, staring in amazement as we sailed past giant pieces of ice. In the distance, we spotted a group of humpback whales feeding on smaller fishes. Next door, my parents were also waking up to the sights of a new day in Antarctica. Over breakfast, my sister and I excitedly told them about the whales we saw from our room that morning. You might not immediately think of “family vacation” when talking about a trip to Antarctica, but tour companies like Adventures by Disney are changing that. The company offers guided group trips to destinations across all seven continents in the world. Our adventure started when we flew to Buenos Aires and explored the beautiful Argentine capital for a day. After leaving Buenos Aires, we flew to Ushuaia on an Adventures by Disney plane. Then, it was the journey toward the Drake Passage. After a speedy Drake Passage crossing, we reached Antarctica early, adding a half day to our scheduled four days on and around the continent. To those unfamiliar with Adventures by Disney, the fact that you can experience Antarctica — the most distant, extreme continent — with Disney might be surprising. During the trip, there were thoughtful acts, from stamped postcards to send from an Antarctica post office to a champagne (香槟) party on our final stop of the journey; Adventures by Disney truly thought of everything for us. Antarctica is a life-changing destination packed with experiences that can’t be copied. We experienced seasickness when travelling across the Drake Passage, hiked up ice hills alongside lovely animals, and had a taste of champagne. And honestly, it’s going to be hard for the next family trip we may take to compete. 1.How did the author and her sister feel when sailing past the icebergs? A.Terrific. B.Confused. C.Frightened. D.Dangerous. 2.What happened first on the author’s journey? A.They flew to Ushuaia. B.They toured around Buenos Aires. C.They passed through the Drake Passage. D.They hiked up ice hills alongside lovely animals. 3.What can we infer about their travel from the last paragraph? A.The author might feel bad when crossing the Drake Passage. B.The author was the most impressed by the champagne party. C.The author believes that their next travel will be more thrilling. D.The author thought an Antarctica post office should be established. 4.Which can serve as the best title for the text? These treats were for endangered mountain pygmy possums (山袋貂). This small-sized animal lives only in the Australian regions of Victoria and New South Wales, and being active at night, is rarely seen in the wild. Up until the 1960s, when a small population of the possum was found in Victoria, the species was thought to be extinct. Pygmy possums live on a diet of bogong moths (布冈夜蛾) and seeds. Yet in recent years, the once vast number of bogong moths that migrate each spring to the Snowy Mountains has severely fallen. Dr Linda Broome heads a team that has been tracking the region’s community of mountain pygmy possums for more than 30 years. “An estimated 330 adults were counted in the Cabramurra region in 2016, with 200 counted in 2018-19,” says Broome. The animals are also affected by extreme weather. That’s when Broome started baking “bogong” biscuits, using a specially developed recipe that replicates (仿制) the nutritional value of the moths. But with vast quantities of the nutritional biscuits needed weekly to feed all the hungry mouths, she needed help. The children at Berridale Public School wanted to know how they could help the region recover. The school, under the leadership of current principal Tracey Southam, contacted Broome. The kids were more than happy to put down their pencils and pick up spoons instead. It wasn’t long before all the primary school students across the Snowy Mountains region were busy baking the treats. Each bake-off took around 4.5 hours to produce sixty 200-gram bags of biscuits. Altogether, this resulted in an impressive 660 bags of bogong biscuits. “While it is difficult to estimate the number of babies that have survived with the help of the biscuits, a field count in March resulted in 32 babies, which is a number similar to good seasons,” Broome says. Although the figures are still small, the results are pleasing and everyone is hopeful that their numbers can recover. 1.What is a feature of mountain pygmy possums? A.They are globally distributed. B.They like to hang out after dark. C.They prefer biscuits to bogong moths. D.They are frequent visitors to Australian kitchens. 2.What does the author want to show by mentioning the numbers in paragraph 2? A.The disastrous effect of climate change. B.The worrying condition of pygmy possums. C.The disappointing recovery of bogong moths. D.The changing habitat requirement of pygmy possums. 3.What can be learnt about Berridale Public School’s students? A.They were environmentally aware. B.They led the feeding programme. C.They dragged their feet over baking biscuits. D.They created the unique recipe for pygmy possums. 4.How might Broome feel about the biscuit drive? A.Doubtful. B.Tolerant. C.Optimistic. D.Confused. 【答案】1.B 2.B 3.A 4.C 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了生物学家和学校孩子们为了挽救山袋貂而为它们特制营养饼干的故事。 1.细节理解题。根据第一段第三句“This small-sized animal lives only in the Australian regions of Victoria and New South Wales, and being active at night, is rarely seen in the wild. (这种小型动物只生活在澳大利亚维多利亚州和新南威尔士州的地区,在夜间活动,在野外很少见到)”可知,山袋貂喜欢夜间出没。故选B。 2.推断判断题。根据第二段倒数第二句““An estimated 330 adults were counted in the Cabramurra region in 2016, with 200 counted in 2018-19,” says Broome. (布鲁姆说:“据估计,2016年在卡布拉姆拉地区发现了330只成年山袋貂,2018-19年发现了200只。”)”可知,山袋貂数量下降明显,生存状况堪忧。故选B。 3.推断判断题。根据第四段首句“The children at Berridale Public School wanted to know how they could help the region recover. (贝里代尔公立学校的孩子们想知道他们如何帮助该地区恢复。)”以及第三句“The kids were more than happy to put down their pencils and pick up spoons instead. (孩子们非常高兴地放下铅笔,拿起勺子。)”可知,贝里代尔公立学校的学生们想为当地生态环境恢复贡献自己的一份力量,他们非常乐意放下铅笔、拿起勺子去为山袋貂制作食物。由此可见,Berridale Public School的学生有很强的环保意识。故选A。 4.推断判断题。根据末段末句“Although the figures are still small, the results are pleasing and everyone is hopeful that their numbers can recover. (虽然数字仍然很小,但结果令人满意,每个人都希望它们的数量能够恢复。)”可知,尽管饼干项目帮助的山袋貂数量目前还比较少,但结果令人满意。由此可见,Broome对饼干项目持乐观态度。故选C。 Passage 2 (24-25高二下·合肥六校联盟·期末) Zhu Zhiwen, in his 30s,has been on the road, on his most recent bicycle trip since March. It happened while he was driving his garbage truck through wealthier neighbourhoods at night and seeing abandoned books. It aroused his desire to start rescuing books from the garbage. He used to take home between 50 and 60 books every morning. Eventually, he turned his book collection into a community library for children from low-income families. Colombia’s capital city of Bogota has 19 public libraries. However, these libraries tend to be far away from where rural and poorer communities live. The option of buying new books is non-existent for families struggling to make ends meet. Gutiérrez’s community library is a true representation of how one man’s garbage can be another’s treasure. Gutiérrez grew up poor, and his family could not afford to educate him beyond primary school. Nevertheless, his mother was a passionate reader and read stories to him every night. Her love for books left a deep impression on Gutiérrez. Today, his makeshift community library, called “The Strength of Words”, occupies most of his home in southern Bogota, and is piled from floor to ceiling with fiction and non-fiction titles. Everything from school textbooks to storybooks can be found in his collection of more than 20.000 books! As word began to spread about his amazing project, people began sending him thousands more books to grow his library. Despite having done so much for his community, Gutiérrez is not yet content to call it a day. He continues to search through garbage cans for reading materials. Today, the Gutiérrez family does not merely want to start libraries in neighbourhoods. They want to create spaces for school children to spend their time reading. Gutiérrez’s journey to give back to his local community is an amazing example of how every one of us can improve the lives of those around us. How might we take a leaf out of Gutiérrez’s books and impact the less fortunate around us? 1.What inspired Gutiérrez to rescue unwanted books? A.Leo Tolstoy’s life. B.The abandoned Anna Karenina. C.Children’s living conditions. D.A community-library. 2.Why did Gutiérrez start “The Strength of Words”? A.To create a harmonious neighborhood. B.To give his mother sufficient books. C.To improve the community life. D.To facilitate children’s reading. 3.What can best describe Gutiérrez? A.caring B.passionate. C.well-educated. D.talented. 4.What is the main idea of the text? A.Gutiérrez has a strong desire for reading. B.Gutiérrez’s kindness moves other people. C.How does Gutiérrez turns books from garbage to treasure. D.How does Gutiérrez to be model of education. 【答案】1.B 2.D 3.A 4.C 【导语】这是一篇记叙文。文章介绍了古铁雷斯利用在垃圾堆捡到的图书建立了一个面向低收入家庭儿童的社区图书馆,从而变废为宝的故事。 【详解】1.细节理解题。根据第一段“Gutiérrez’s life would never be the same again after finding a copy of Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy in the garbage 20 years ago.”(20年前,古铁雷斯在垃圾堆里发现了列夫·托尔斯泰的《安娜·卡列尼娜》,从此他的生活再也不一样了)及“It aroused his desire to start rescuing books from the garbage. ”(这激起了他开始从垃圾堆里抢救书籍的欲望)可知,被丢弃的《安娜·卡列尼娜》这本书激发了古铁雷斯抢救被遗弃的图书的欲望。故选B项。 2.推理判断题。根据第一段“Eventually, he turned his book collection into a community library for children from low-income families.”(最终,他把自己的藏书变成了一个面向低收入家庭儿童的社区图书馆)及第二段“However, these libraries tend to be far away from where rural and poorer communities live. She first thought it was caused by typical bad-tempered passengers. But as the flight neared its end, it became obvious that something was very wrong. A teenage boy with Down syndrome (唐氏综合症) who was traveling with his family had become upset and would not return to his seat, regardless of the cabin crew’s warnings over the loudspeaker that it was almost time to land. The pilot was forced to circle above the airport, delaying the landing—and angering people on the already tense flight. As the boy’s elderly parents failed to persuade him to get off the floor and back into his seat, Murphy, who had been a teacher for more than 20 years, stood up and quickly headed to the back of the plane. She found the boy in the passage between rows of seats, lying on his belly. She began chatting calmly with him, asking his name, his favorite book, and his favorite characters. He told her he felt sick and she tried to comfort him. Minutes later, he allowed her to hold his hand—and then together they got properly back into airplane seats. Murphy asked for sick bags, and held them as the boy threw up several times. As she helped him clean up, she repeatedly told him everything would be okay and that they’d get through it together. After the plane was finally able to land, no one was impatient to step off the flight as one might expect. Instead, calmed passengers—obviously following Murphy’s amazing example—allowed the boy and his family to depart first, smiling at them as they passed. His parents tearfully thanked Murphy for what she had done, and a doctor sitting nearby also let her know he had even taken notes on her expert way of handling the situation. 1.Why was the landing delayed? A.Because a family ignored the warnings. B.Because a boy refused to sit in his seat. C.Because smoke was coming out of the engine. D.Because the pilot had to change the destination. 2.Murphy successfully handled the “awful tension” by _______. A.fighting against unfair treatment B.calling on other passengers to join her C.communicating with the boy D.asking an experienced doctor to help 3.What changed the angry passengers’ attitude at last? A.The teacher’s efforts. B.The plane’s safe landing. C.The crew’s behavior. D.The boy’s improvement. 4.Which of the following words can best describe Murphy? A.Generous and careful. B.Patient and energetic. C.Wise and honest. D.Kind and cool-headed. 【答案】1.B 2.C 3.A 4.D 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。讲述了教师Sophie Murphy在飞机上帮助一位患有唐氏综合征的小男孩克服心理和身体的不适,使得飞机正常降落并获得全体乘客赞许的故事。 1.细节理解题。根据文中第二段“A teenage boy with Down syndrome(唐氏综合征)who was traveling with his family had become upset and would not return to his seat, regardless of the cabin crew's warnings over the loudspeaker when it was almost time to land. (一名患有唐氏综合征的少年和他的家人一起旅行,当飞机即将着陆时,他不顾空乘人员通过扩音器发出的警告,变得心烦意乱,不肯回到座位上。)”可知,是小男孩不可能坐在座位上的行为导致了飞机延迟降落。故选B。 2.细节理解题。根据文中第五段“She began chatting calmly with him, asking his name, his favorite book, and his favorite characters. He told her he felt sick and she tried to comfort him. (她开始平静地和他聊天,问他的名字,他最喜欢的书,他最喜欢的角色。他告诉她他觉得不舒服,她试图安慰他。)”可知,是Murphy与男孩的沟通起了作用,使紧张,糟糕的局面得到了改观。故选C。 3.推理判断题。根据文中最后一段“Instead, calmed passengers--obviously following Murphy's amazing example--allowed the boy and his family to depart first, smiling at them as they passed. (相反,镇静下来的乘客——显然是在效仿Murphy的惊人榜样——让男孩和他的家人先离开,并在他们经过时对他们微笑。)”可知,乘客们是被Murphy的行为所感染,纷纷以她为榜样,才对男孩的态度发生改变并礼让他和他的家人先行下飞机。所以推断是Murphy的努力改变了愤怒的乘客的态度。故选A。 4.推理判断题。从Murphy主动与男孩交谈可以推断她是一个友善的人,并从第五段中“She began chatting calmly with him(她开始平静地和他聊天)”可以推断出她是一个遇事冷静的人。故选D。 Passage 4 (24-25高二下·安徽·期末) Five years ago, when I taught art at a school in Seattle, I used Tinkertoys as a test at the beginning of a term to find out something about my students. I put a small set of Tinkertoys in front of each student, and said: “Make something out of the Tinkertoys. You have 45 minutes today — and 45 minutes each day for the rest of the week.” A few students hesitated to start. They waited to see what the rest of the class would do. Several others checked the instructions and made something according to one of the model plans provided. Another group built something out of their own imaginations. Once I had a boy who worked experimentally with Tinkertoys in his free time, his constructions filled a shelf in the art classroom and a good part of his bedroom at home. I was delighted at the presence of such a student. Here was an exceptionally creative mind at work. His presence meant that I had an unexpected teaching assistant in class whose creativity would infect(感染) other students. Encouraging this kind of thinking has a downside. I ran the risk of losing those students who had a different style of thinking. Without fail one would declare, “But I’m just not creative.” “Do you dream at night when you’re asleep?” “Oh, sure.” “So tell me one of your most interesting dreams.” The student would tell something wildly imaginative. Flying in the sky or in a time machine or growing three heads. “That’s pretty creative. Who does that for you?” “Nobody. I do it.” “Really-at night, when you’re asleep?” “Sure.” “Try doing it in the daytime, in class, okay?” 1.The teacher used Tinkertoys in class in order to ________. A.know more about the students B.make the lessons more exciting C.raise the students’ interest in art D.teach the students about toy design 2.What do we know about the boy mentioned in Paragraph 3? A.He liked to help his teacher. B.He preferred to study alone. C.He was active in class. D.He was imaginative. 3.What does the underlined word “downside” in Paragraph 4 probably mean? A.Mistake. B.Drawback. C.Difficulty. D.Burden. 4.Why did the teacher ask the students to talk about their dreams? A.To help them to see their creativity. B.To find out about their sleeping habits. C.To help them to improve their memory. D.To find out about their ways of thinking. 【答案】1.A 2.D 3.B 4.A 【分析】这是一篇记叙文。本文主要讲了作者通过让学生拼装玩具发现并鼓励学生的创造性和想象力。 1.推理判断题。由第二段A few students hesitated to start. They waited to see the rest of the class would do. Several others checked the instructions and made something according to one of the model plans provided. Another group built something out of their own imaginations.可知,当我把拼装式玩具放在学生面前的时候,有些学生犹豫着在等着看别人如何行动,有一些学生查看了使用说明并根据模型做出了一些东西。而另外一些学生则根据本人的想象力做出了一些东西。通过观察,作者对每个学生有了更多的了解。故选A。 2.推理判断题。由第三段中Here was an exceptionally creative mind at work. Together, we've gone through both tears and happiness. About 12 years ago, I knew it following an order from my mom. Many hours of boredom were spent practicing it. And to make things worse, the disappointment in my teacher's eyes as I played the wrong notes was like an invisible hammer, striking on my heart. One day, I finally decided: I hate it! By chance, things changed when I was seven. I was at home lying on the sofa, wondering how those famous violinists dealt with this terrible dilemma. I searched online for the E-minor Concerto, a well-known violin work by German composer Felix Mendelssohn, and listened to it. A beautiful and mysterious sound came from the violin as the bow (琴弓) moved across it. It was like the music slid over the flowers, rose up, and started to fill the air. The violin's voice woke up the sun, made the trees green, and freshened the air. As the music changed, the sky turned back to gray. A gloomy shade covered the grass as all the sunshine disappeared. I could hear children crying and men shouting. It was like an invisible claw had grabbed my heart tightly, making it unable to beat. That glorious day set off my passion and, interest in violin—I grabbed mine and never let it go. Before the memories faded, I stared at my instrument. Without hesitating, I picked it up, rosined the bow, and began to play. Peace filled my heart. My violin has been by my side for 12 years. When I feel happy, an energetic tune makes it even better; when I'm deep in sorrow, a peaceful tune washes it away, when I'm walking on air, feeling especially pleased with my achievements, solemn tunes calm me down. Gradually, it has become a part of my life. My violin, shall I compare you to a summer's day? 1.What further led to the author's dislike of violin-playing? A.Orders from Mum. B.Boredom of practice. C.Disappointment in the teacher's eyes. D.Loss of passion for violin. 2.What can be inferred from Paragraph 4? A.The author's feeling was continuously influenced by the music. B.The weather actually changed because of the tune. C.The sudden change made the author's heart unable to beat. D.The scenery outside the room was quite attractive. 3.Why did the author pick up the violin again? A.The invisible hammer and claw are gone. B.The beautiful imagination changed his attitude. C.A famous tune aroused his interest and passion. D.He was crazy about Felix Mendelssohn's works. 4.Which of the following can be the best title for the text? A.Musical soul mate—violin. B.My dislike and like of violin. C.An inspiring story of violin. D.Deep love for music. 【答案】1.C 2.A 3.C 4.A 【分析】本文是一篇记叙文,作者讲述了自己小时候被妈妈要求学小提琴,后来由于无聊和失望而放弃,无意中因为一首名曲又有了学习的热情,一直坚持了12年到现在,小提琴已经成了生活的一部分,成了作者的灵魂伴侣。 1.细节理解题。根据第二段中“And to make things worse, the disappointment in my teacher's eyes as I played the wrong notes was like an invisible hammer, striking on my heart. One day, I finally decided: I hate it!(更糟糕的是,当我弹错音符时,老师眼中的失望就像一把无形的锤子,敲打着我的心。有一天,我终于决定:我讨厌它!)”可知,当作者演奏错误时老师失望的眼神加剧了作者对小提琴的不喜欢。故选C。 2.推理判断题。根据第四段中“It was like the music slid over the flowers, rose up, and started to fill the air. The violin's voice woke up the sun, made the trees green, and freshened the air. As the music changed, the sky turned back to gray.(它就像音乐滑过花朵,上升,并开始充满空气。小提琴的声音唤醒了太阳,使树木变绿,使空气清新。随着音乐的变化,天空又变成了灰色)”可知,这些对优美琴声的描写,表现了琴声对人心情的影响,人的心情会随着音乐而变化。由此判断出作者的感受不断受到音乐的影响。故选A。 3.细节理解题。根据第三段中“I searched online for the E-minor Concerto, a well-known violin work by German composer Felix Mendelssohn, and listened to it.(我在网上搜索了德国作曲家门德尔松的著名小提琴作品E小调协奏曲,并听了它)”以及第五段中“That glorious day set off my passion and interest in violin—I grabbed mine and never let it go.(那辉煌的一天点燃了我对小提琴的热情和兴趣——我紧紧抓住我的激情,永不放弃)”可知,Felix Mendelssohn的E-minor Concerto这首名曲让作者对小提琴又有了兴趣和热情,故选C。 4.主旨大意题。根据第一段“My violin is like a soul mate that whispers words of wisdom to me. In 1997, McKee found his father had cancer—which was disastrous for his family. "One word sort of turned our world upside down,” McKee told Fox News Digital of the impact on his family. After losing his father in 2003, McKee wanted to do something in memory of him, which is why he took the challenge to run 365 marathons in 365 days. He became a fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support. His goal was to raise about $1.2 million by the end of that year. On January 1st, 2022, the challenge officially began—and McKee was on his way to running 9, 563 miles. “There was always an air of excitement because you didn’t know who was going to be outside running with you,” McKee said. He would run his course each morning before going to work starting at 8 a. m. Then, halfway through the year, a previous injury started to bother him, so he had to change his start time to 6 a. m. to manage his pace. While the injury could have dampened his spirits, he said he saw the slower pace as a “blessing”, as it allowed more people to run alongside him. “People will often challenge, ‘How are you going to do that?’ What they mean is they don’t believe that you can. My question then is, ‘How am I not going to do it? You tell me why you think I can’t.’ There is always more reason to do something than there is not to do it. “His entire community supported him for the full year by either joining him on the road or cheering him on from the sidelines. However, it was his family’s support that encouraged him the most and helped him “rest easy”. By the time Gary McKee got to the end of his run, he had raised over $1 million. 1.Why did Gary McKee start the marathons? A.To honour his father. B.To raise money for the poor. C.To keep a healthy body. D.To found Macmillan Cancer Support. 2.Why did Gary McKee adjust his start time? A.Because he wanted more people to join him. B.Because he was influenced by his old injury. C.Because he expected to run a longer distance. D.Because he wanted to balance his work time and running. 3.What can we learn from the words of Gary McKee in paragraph 4? A.He was always confident about himself. B.He thought others’ question was reasonable. C.He thought everyone could achieve their goals. D.He wasn’t accustomed to following others’ advice. 4.Which word can best describe Gary McKee? A.Independent. B.Humorous. C.Caring. D.Determined. 【答案】1.A 2.B 3.A 4.D 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。主要讲述了53岁的英国人加里·麦基完成了一项许多人可能不敢尝试的挑战——365天跑365场马拉松。 【详解】1.细节理解。根据第二段中“After losing his father in 2003, McKee wanted to do something in memory of him, which is why he took the challenge to run 365 marathons in 365 days.”(2003年父亲去世后,麦基想做点什么来纪念他,所以他接受了365天跑365场马拉松的挑战。)可知,加里·麦基开始跑马拉松是为了纪念他的父亲。故选A项。 2.细节理解题。根据第三段中“Then, halfway through the year, a previous injury started to bother him, so he had to change his start time to 6 a. m. to manage his pace.”(然后,在这一年的中途,之前的伤病开始困扰他,所以他不得不把开始时间改为早上6点,以控制他的速度。)可知,加里·麦基调整他的开始时间是因为他受到了旧伤的影响。故选B项。 3.推理判断题。根据第四段中““People will often challenge, ‘How are you going to do that?’ What they mean is they don’t believe that you can. My question then is, ‘How am I not going to do it? Have friends and family around you? Chances are that if you’re looking to live a more sustainable lifestyle, not everyone around you will be ready to jump on that bandwagon. I experienced this when I started switching to a zero waste lifestyle five years ago, as I was living with my parents, and I continue to experience this with my husband, as he is not completely zero waste like me. I’ve learned a few things along the way though, which I hope you’ll find encouraging if you’re doing your best to figure out how you can make the change in a not-always-supportive household. Zero waste was a radical lifestyle movement a few years back. I remember showing my parents a video of Bea Johnson, sharing how cool I thought it would be to buy groceries with jars, and have so little trash! A few days later, I came back with my first jars of zero waste groceries, and my dad commented on how silly it was for me to carry jars everywhere. It came off as a bit discouraging. Yet as the months of reducing waste continued, I did what I could that was within my own reach. I had my own bedroom, so I worked on removing things I didn’t need. Since I had my own toiletries (洗漱用品), I was able to start personalising my routine to be more sustainable. I also offered to cook every so often, so I portioned out a bit of the cupboard for my own zero waste groceries. Perhaps your household won’t entirely make the switch, but you may have some control over your own personal spaces to make the changes you desire. As you make your lifestyle changes, you may find yourself wanting to speak up for yourself if others comment on what you’re doing, which can turn itself into a whole household debate. If you have individuals who are not on board, your words probably won’t do much and can often leave you feeling more discouraged. So here is my advice: Lead by action. 1.What do the underlined words “jump on that bandwagon” mean in the first paragraph? A.Share an apartment with you. B.Join you in what you’re doing. C.Transform your way of living. D.Help you to make the decision. 2.What was the attitude of the author’s father toward buying groceries with jars? A.He disapproved of it. B.He was favorable to it. C.He was tolerant of it. D.He didn’t care about it. 3.What can we infer about the author? A.She is quite good at cooking. B.She respects others’ privacy. C.She enjoys being a housewife. D.She is a determined person. 4.What is the text mainly about? A.How to get on well with other family members. B.How to have one’s own personal space at home. C.How to live a zero waste lifestyle in a household. D.How to control the budget when buying groceries. 【答案】1.B 2.A 3.D 4.C 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了作者如何在家庭中过零浪费的生活方式。 1.词句猜测题。根据划线部分前文“Chances are that if you’re looking to live a more sustainable lifestyle, not everyone around you will be ready to(如果你想过一种更可持续的生活方式,可能不是你周围的每个人都准备好)”及第二段中的“I’ve learned a few things along the way though, which I hope you’ll find encouraging if you’re doing your best to figure out how you can make the change in a not-always-supportive household.(在这个过程中,我学到了一些东西,我希望如果你在一个不总是支持你的家庭中尽最大努力去弄清楚如何做出改变,你会感到鼓舞)”可知,如果你想过一种更可持续的生活方式,可能不是你周围的每个人都准备好加入这一运动。由此推知,划线词组jump on that bandwagon与Join you in what you’re doing.(加入你正在做的事情)意思接近。故选B。 2.推理判断题。根据第三段中的“A few days later, I came back with my first jars of zero waste groceries, and my dad commented on how silly it was for me to carry jars everywhere. It came off as a bit discouraging.(几天后,我带着第一罐零废物杂货回来了,我父亲评论说,我到处带着罐子是多么愚蠢。结果有点令人沮丧)”可推知,作者的父亲不赞成用罐子买食品杂货。故选A。 3.推理判断题。根据第四段中的“Yet as the months of reducing waste continued, I did what I could that was within my own reach. (然而,随着减少浪费的几个月的持续,我尽了自己力所能及的努力)”及“Perhaps your household won’t entirely make the switch, but you may have some control over your own personal spaces to make the changes you desire.(也许你的家庭不会完全改变,但你可以控制自己的个人空间,做出你想要的改变)”可推知,作者是一个意志坚定的人。故选D。 4.主旨大意题。根据第一段中的“Chances are that if you’re looking to live a more sustainable lifestyle, not everyone around you will be ready to jump on that bandwagon.(如果你想过一种更可持续的生活方式,可能不是你周围的每个人都准备好加入这一运动)”及第二段中的“I’ve learned a few things along the way though, which I hope you’ll find encouraging if you’re doing your best to figure out how you can make the change in a not-always-supportive household.(在这个过程中,我学到了一些东西,我希望如果你在一个不总是支持你的家庭中尽最大努力去弄清楚如何做出改变,你会感到鼓舞)”可知,文章主要讲述了作者如何在家庭中过零浪费的生活方式。故选C。 1 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 专题02 阅读理解(记叙文) 主题01 人与社会——社会与文化 Passage 1 (24-25高二下·安徽滁州·期末) Super Bowl Sunday is the biggest unofficial holiday in America. The moment she got some water and food, the puppy made a rapid recovery, and her lovely and sweet personality could finally shine! “We have named her CiCi,” Sandy added, “She is feeling so much better. She has been observed at my place and she is doing great. This sweet baby girl will never feel fearful again, and won’t ever be abandoned again.” After winning hearts at Sandy’s office, CiCi has been approved for adopting and will soon leave for her new life. A.Treasure in Letters B.The Story of My Family C.Digital Distraction D.The Power of Pen and Ink Passage 2 (24-25高二下·安徽安庆·期末) As Franklin D.Roosevelt once said, “a smooth sea never made a skilled sailor. ”This certainly applies to New York-born competitive sailor Cole Brauer, the first American woman to competitively sail solo (独自) around the world. Everything from school textbooks to storybooks can be found in his collection of more than 20.000 books! As word began to spread about his amazing project, people began sending him thousands more books to grow his library. Passage 4 (24-25高二下·安徽·期末) Five years ago, when I taught art at a school in Seattle, I used Tinkertoys as a test at the beginning of a term to find out something about my students. Passage 6 (24-25高二下·安徽合肥·期末) My violin is like a soul mate that whispers words of wisdom to me. 主题03 人与自然——保护环境 Passage 1 (23-24高二下·六安一中·期末) Live with roommates? 1 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
