One day, Debbie’s doorbell rang suddenly. It was 16-year-old Amy from next door. “Help! My brother Dylan is bleeding,” she shouted. Debbie ran to their house to find 8-year-old Dylan bleeding heavily from a huge cut in his arm. Amy was looking after Dylan while their mother was shopping in the supermarket. Dylan fell while running through the house, pushing his arm through a glass door by accident.
Debbie recently took a first-aid course (课程) and knew what to do. “I knew I needed to stop the bleeding. I got a towel (毛巾) from the bathroom and used it to press the cut,” she said. Dylan was crying, so Debbie comforted (安慰) him while pressing the towel to stop the blood from running. She told Amy to call for an ambulance because she knew the cut would need medical treatment. Just as the ambulance arrived, Dylan’s mother came home. She was deeply shocked but held Dylan’s arm at once. Then a nurse helped him and they travelled to the hospital together in the ambulance.
A few weeks later. Dylan got well and was back from the hospital. Dylan’s mother thanked Debbie. “I’m so happy that I learned first aid,” Debbie said. “I never thought I’d need to use my first-aid skills so soon, but I’m very glad I knew what to do. The towel did a great job in stopping the blood from running.”

C
The Yellow River starts in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (青藏高原) and runs eastward across China. On its way, it passes through the Loess Plateau (黄土高原)—a place with a lot of soft soil and few plants. When it rains, the soil is easily washed into the river, turning the water brown. It looks like “half water, half sand”. So the Yellow River has been famous for its brown water for many years.
But in 2025, something amazing happened: parts of the river became clear! People saw clear water at Hukou Waterfall in Shaanxi Province. This surprised everyone.
▲ First, less rain fell in early 2025. The Loess Plateau got 35% less rain than usual. Less rain means less soil is washed into the river. Second, people have worked for years to protect the land. They planted trees and built small dams (大坝) to stop soil from being washed away. Today, green plants grow on nearly 63% of the Loess Plateau. In 1999, it was only 31%. That’s why its water is clearer today!
However, the clear water brings both hope and new challenges. On the positive side, more fish have returned, and the risk of dangerous floods may be reduced. But clear water also has its downsides: it can wear away (磨损) riverbanks faster, and less soil getting to the river means that wetlands by the river are getting smaller.
Nature and humans need to work together for a better future. Scientists are now studying how to keep the river healthy while enjoying its green and clear water. People near the river are also learning new ways to farm so that they won’t harm the land or the water. Everyone agrees that protecting the Yellow River is important for both its beauty and its role in history.

依据原文“expressing it…bad ways”,“in…ways”是固定搭配,表示“用……方式”,此处填介词“in”。
【47题详解】
句意:毕竟,愤怒就像火一样。依据原文“anger is like…fire”,“like a fire”是固定表达,表示“像火一样”,此处填不定冠词“a”。
依据原文“there…a few simple things you can do to stay calm”,“there be”句型中主语“things”为复数,句子用一般现在时,所以填“are”。
依据原文“That gives you an opportunity to calm down…become a little less angry”,“calm down”和“become a little less angry”是并列的两个动作,用并列连词“and”连接。
依据原文“…is important to make right decisions when you feel angry”,“It is + adj. + to do sth.”
A: Lucy, you look upset, _______51_______?
B: I argued with my parents last night.
A: Well, Lucy. How come?
B: I wanted to go to the movies with my friends last night. But they didn’t allow me to do that.
A: _______52_______?
B: I was so angry that I shouted back loudly.
A: _______53_______?
B: No, I didn’t. I stayed in my room for two hours and didn’t talk with anyone.
A: I think you should say sorry to them.
B: I know I should. _______54_______
A: Maybe you could write a letter to them. I think that’s easier.
B: _______55_______. I’ll do it right away.
A: Hope you will clear the air soon.
what’s wrong/what’s the matter
52.
What did you do then
53.
Did you say sorry to them
54.
But I don’t know how to say sorry/But I don’t know what to do
55.
Good idea/That sounds great
A注意到Lucy看起来很沮丧,结合下文B的回答“I argued with my parents last night.” 或“What’s the matter?”
B解释了和父母吵架的原因,下文B回答“I was so angry that I shouted back loudly.”说明了自己当时的反应,由此可知A的问句应是询问B之后做了什么,故用“What did you do then?”
下文B用“No, I didn’t.”进行否定回答,并补充说“I stayed in my room for two hours and didn’t talk with anyone.”,结合上文A已建议“you should say sorry to them”,可知A的问句应是询问B是否已经向父母道歉,故用“Did you say sorry to them?”
B先说“I know I should.”表示知道应该道歉,但下文A马上给出建议“Maybe you could write a letter to them.”,说明B在此处表达了不知道该怎么做的困惑,故用“But I don’t know how to say sorry.”或“But I don’t know what to do.”衔接,既与前文“I know I should”形成转折,又自然引出A的建议。
上文A提议写信,下文B说“I’ll do it right away.” 或“That sounds great.”

Dear Mom,
I’m writing to say “thank you” from my heart.
This term, I have made great progress. I improved my math by doing exercises every day and got higher scores. This couldn’t have happened without your help. Whenever I had problems, you sat with me patiently. In life, I learned to tidy my room and became more independent. You taught me to do chores instead of doing everything for me. However, I still need to improve my time management because I waste too much time on my phone. I will make a plan and spend more time on study.
Thank you for your love. I will try my best to be better.
Yours sincerely,
Li Ming

Dylan fell while running through the house, pushing his arm through a glass door by accident.

Just as the ambulance arrived, Dylan’s mother came home. She was deeply shocked but held Dylan’s arm at once. Then a nurse helped him and they travelled to the hospital together in the ambulance.

A. Only 31%. B. Around 32%. C. About 35%. D. Nearly 63%.
