One warm afternoon last spring, I was walking through a park in Putuo. At the corner of a grassy field, a group of women in their late 50s caught my eye. With plastic bags hanging from their arms, they moved slowly through the grass, searching for something. “What are they doing?” I wondered.
Curious, I walked over for a closer look. One of the women looked up and laughed, “See? Wild shepherd’s purse (荠菜)!”
“Shepherd’s purse? Here in this park?” I asked, looking around in surprise.
“Ah, you young guys know nothing about this,” the woman replied. Then, she moved to a small plant with toothed leaves just behind me. I looked at the plant and scratched (挠) my head. Maybe she was right. Young people don’t know much about any of this.
But who hasn’t heard of this trend? Every spring for the past several years, digging for wild edible (可吃的) plants has been all over social media. However, many of us know little about these plants. Take shepherd’s purse, for example. I eat it almost every spring as part of my dumpling fillings. But without much experience in cooking or shopping, I have no idea what my food looks like before it’s chopped (剁碎) and cooked?
We aren’t robots, and eating shouldn’t feel like charging (充电). To make eating a truly human experience, we need to roll up our sleeves (卷起袖子) sometimes. Instead of buying ready-to-cook dumplings, we could buy some meat, shepherd’s purse and dumpling skins, and learn to make those dumplings by hand. What about digging for wild edible plants? It could be a fun adventure, but I think I’ll find a guide before I get my hands dirty!

Imagine dropping your sandwich on the kitchen floor at breakfast. You quickly pick it up and ask yourself: Can I still eat it? Many people follow something called the “five-second rule.” The rule says that dropped food is safe to eat if it’s picked up within five seconds. But is this a reliable rule?
Experts say not always. Donald Schaffner, a food science professor, explains that bacteria (细菌) can move to food right away, especially if the food is wet. “Bacteria don’t have legs. They move with the liquid. The wetter the food, the higher the risk of transfer (转移),” Schaffner says. For example, if a slice (片) of watermelon falls on the floor, it might collect bacteria at once. Even if you pick it up quickly, it could still be dangerous to eat.
Many people think that food dropped on a carpeted (铺有地毯的) floor is much dirtier. However, another expert, Professor Anthony Hilton, found that carpeted floors pass on fewer bacteria than hard surfaces like wood. This is because the top of a carpet keeps food away from bacteria that lie closer to the ground. Still, he warns people to be careful. Food on the floor can never be completely safe.
But what if your food is dropped on the kitchen counter (台面) instead of the floor? Dr. Steven Dowshen, a doctor, advises against eating such food as well. Raw meat or other foods can leave harmful bacteria called salmonella (沙门氏菌) on the surface. Food from a dirty counter could thus make you sick.
In the end, you can never be too careful about what you put in your mouth. When in doubt, it’s probably better to just throw it out.

根据材料内容选择最佳答案。

33. What writing skill is used in Paragraph 3?
A. Telling a story. B. listing numbers.

35. What’s the structure of the passage?

【答案】例文
范文一:支持的观点
Should Students Look Up Answers Online?
Nowadays, looking for answers online is quite popular. In my opinion, if we use the Internet in the right way, it can be a great helper in our studies. I believe looking up answers online can be helpful for students.
First, the Internet is very helpful when we meet difficult problems. It can provide clear explanations that help us understand better. What’s more, it can save much time and make learning more efficient. Last, by checking answers online, we can learn different ways to solve the same problem. It not only opens our minds but also improves our problem-solving skills.
All in all, as long as we use the Internet properly, it can be a great tool for learning.
范文二:反对的观点
Should Students Look Up Answers Online?
Nowadays, looking for answers online is quite popular. In my opinion, searching for answers online does more harm than good. As a result, I don’t think students should look up answers online.
First of all, it makes students lazy. If we always get answers easily from the Internet, we will stop thinking by ourselves. This is bad for developing our independent thinking skills. Secondly, not all answers online are correct. We may be misled by wrong information. Most importantly, the real learning happens when we try hard to solve problems by ourselves.
Therefore, it’s better to try solving problems first instead of depending on the Internet. Thinking independently is surely the key to being a good learner.
