Physical exercise is good for our mind, body and spirit. Today, working out through online videos is becoming very popular. Since the Internet is widely used, it’s very easy for us to do so. That means we can work out anytime, anywhere.
One of my friends, Michael, follows short workout videos to do daily exercise. “I have a fear of working out at the gym because I don’t like being watched by others. Working out at home makes working out much more enjoyable,” he said.
With their examples, I decided to give it a try. When I told my plan to my elder sister, a P. E. teacher, she reminded (提醒) me that workout videos could be helpful but might still carry some problems.
“Without being with someone in person, you will be less willing (愿意的) to work out to your best. Working out at the gym gives you real-time advice and pushes you harder,” my sister said to me, “Well, if you really want to have a try. First, choose proper programs or videos. That’s very important. Besides, ask your friends for advice. Their experiences can give you a good insight into what you can expect. You should try different ways to work out to be healthy.”
At her suggestions, I finally followed an online workout program with personalized help for three months. After the first period of training, I felt it was very practical and helpful when I put in the right amount (量) of work along with a strong will. Compared with going to the gym, using online videos to work out is a much cheaper and time-saving choice. But it can be difficult to stick to when I’m too lazy or too busy sometimes.

A. They are cheaper and time-saving. B. They can give real-time advice.
C. They are easier to stick to when people are busy. D. They can push people harder.

What can you do to help others if someone falls down suddenly because of a heart problem before doctors come?
Chen Wenqiaochu gave us a great example when he was 14 years old. In 2013, he used CPR (心肺复苏术) to help a school worker and saved his life. Doctors tell us that there is a “golden time”. It is the first four minutes after a heart attack (心脏梗死). People can get the best help from CPR in this short time.
In August 2020, all public schools across China needed to give students CPR lessons in health classes. It is not hard to grasp. We just need to learn a few key points: how to find out if a person has a heart attack, the right place to press on the chest (胸), and how to give mouth-to-mouth breathing to the sick person.
However, less than 1% of Chinese people can use CPR well, and lots of people know little about it. A survey in 2019 showed that 64. 6% of schools have health classes, but the lessons are not useful or helpful enough.
Zhao Shengyu finished high school a few years ago. She shared her experience of learning CPR at school. “We had no teaching tools, video lessons or real practice. I found out my ways were wrong until I joined a medical class later.” she said. She hopes students can learn more useful CPR skills at school.
Many other countries pay much attention to CPR training. A survey in 2017 found that more than half of Americans have learned CPR. Countries like Switzerland, Germany and France also ask students to take CPR lessons at school.
根据短文内容,选择最佳答案。
36. What is the “golden period” according to the passage?
A. The first four minutes after a heart attack. B. The first four minutes before a heart attack.
C. The first four minutes after CPR. D. The first four minutes before CPR.
37. What does the underlined word “grasp” in the passage probably mean?
A. Depend. B. Learn. C. Trust. D. Think.
38. Why was more professional CPR training necessary according to Zhao Shengyu?
A. Because most students had never heard of CPR.
B. Because lots of countries gave CPR training.
C. Because her first CPR learning had lots of mistakes.
D. Because experts advised students to learn the skill of CPR.
39. Which is the right time order of the following facts?
①Chen Wenqiaochu saved a person at his school.
②All Public schools in China need to give CPR lessons.
③It was reported that 64. 6% of schools opened health classes.
④A survey showed that more than half of Americans had learned CPR in training.
A. ①④③② B. ②①④③ C. ①③④② D. ③②①④
40. What does the passage mainly talk about?
A. The steps of performing CPR.
B. The people saved by CPR in China.
C. The recent situation of CPR lessons in China.
D. The differences between CPR lessons in different countries.

Hobbies can not only make us happy, but also keep our brains healthy. A Canadian study tells us that long-term hobbies can help improve our brain structure.
The study involved (包含) 58 bird-watching lovers. They were divided into (分成) two groups: one group was expert (专家) bird-watchers, and the other was beginners. All these people were aged from 20 to 70, and they had similar educational backgrounds.
In the study, volunteers took a brain test. They looked at a bird photo for less than four seconds. Then they had to pick the right bird from four pictures. They took the test 72 times, and there were 18 kinds of birds.
The result was very clear. Experts got 83% of local birds right and 61% of non-local birds right. But beginners only got 44% right for both. The brain scans (扫描) also showed differences. For experts, the brain parts for attention and working memory were better, no matter how old they were.
Creative hobbies are also good for the brain, like music and dancing. A 2025 study found that dancers’ brains looked over seven years younger than their real age. Scientists also said short-term creative learning, like 30 hours, could make our brains younger. Creativity is good for both our culture and our body.

My Journey of Growing Up
I once struggled with low math scores and felt helpless in daily study. My friend Lily noticed my problem and offered to help me after school. We studied together, and she explained difficult problems patiently. Gradually, my grades improved steadily.
This experience taught me that teamwork is powerful and meaningful. With encouragement from friends, challenges become easier to overcome. I also learned to help others like Lily did.
Growing up is hard, but we don’t have to face difficulties alone in life.
