参考范文
Holding the money in his hands tightly, he headed for the shop. “I’ve got the money!” Reuben declared to the shop owner. The man put the necklace into a delicate box, wrapped it in brown paper, and then placed the box in Reuben’s hands. Holding the box, Reuben’s eyes glittered with joy. After exchanging goodbyes with the shop owner, Reuben rushed home to surprise his mother. “Mom! It’s for you!” Reuben exclaimed as he ran to her side. He placed the box in her hand.
Mother opened the box carefully, and a shining necklace appeared. She couldn’t believe her eyes. She took the pearl necklace out and cautiously put it on, tears of happiness beginning to blur her vision. Dora had never received such a precious gift. It was the best Mothers’ Day gift she had ever received. Yes, she was indeed not rich, but she was indeed happy. With tears rolling down her weather- beaten face, she smiled and scooped her son into her arms.

第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
Ancient Chinese people enjoyed special summer treats similar to modern ice cream and fruit dishes. Here are three popular ones from history.
Su Shan (Crumbled Ice Dessert)
Su Shan was a dish made of crushed (碎的) ice mixed with milk and butter. Poet Wang Lingran from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) described its preparation in his poem Ode to Su Shan: sugar was added, and the dessert was shaped into various forms, sometimes decorated with flowers and leaves. The texture (口感) was unique — “neither hard nor watery, melting at once on the tongue”. Many scholars believe this was an early form of ice cream.
Ice and Iced Drinks
Though refrigerators didn’t exist, iceboxes for storing ice became common in wealthy Tang Dynasty families. People drank iced water or ate crushed ice. By the Song Dynasty (960-1279), iced drinks were widely sold on streets. Some rich people even offered free iced water and medicinal drinks, with little green beans or a sweet-taste root, on streets as community service to prevent sickness from the heat.
Cherries with Cheese and Sugar Syrup (糖浆)
During the Wei, Jin, and Southern-Northern Dynasties (220-581), dairy products like cheese became more common. In the Tang Dynasty, warmer climates in the Yellow River region led to widespread cherry growing. Cherries, ripe in early summer, were often paired with cheese and sugar syrup. Song Dynasty poet Lu You noted, “Eat cherries, peaches, and cheese together.”
These treats — added with a little extra from green beans to cherries — show how ancient Chinese people creatively cooled off in summer with flavors and textures to make them more tasty, which were very much like modern favorites.
21. What was the unique texture of Su Shan according to Wang Lingran’s poem?
A. It was hard and required chewing.
B. It felt thick and creamy like yogurt.
C. It remained hard for hours after serving.
D. It softened soon when touching the tongue.
22. Why did wealthy people offer free iced water publicly in the Song Dynasty?
A. To honor a traditional festival event.
B. To attract customers to their ice shops.
C. To introduce some new medicinal drinks.
D. To help people avoid heat-related illness.
23. What do all three treats have in common?
A. They were all for wealthy families.
B. They included tasty extra additions.
C. They included expensive food fillings.
D. They were cold desserts with medicine.
B
“It is the honor of a lifetime to repair precious ancient works,” says Hou Xue, a representative inheritor(继承人) of the state-level intangible cultural heritage of producing gold-inlaid lacquerware(金漆镶嵌漆器).
Hou majored in art and design at the North China University of Technology. At that time, he hoped to find a job in a newspaper as an art editor. But, as chance would have it, he met Bai Qun, the inheritor of the craft of gold-inlaid lacquerware, who invited him to visit an exhibition of palace arts. Elegant works there appealed to Hou, and more importantly, he was surprised and deeply impressed by the extremely beautiful craftsmanship. Hou was so impressed that when Bai asked whether Hou would like to learn this craft and start a career, he nodded without hesitation.
At Bai's recommendation, Hou formally joined Beijing Gold Lacquer Inlaid Co., Ltd. in 2009. Every day, he got up at 4 a.m. in order to be at work by 8 a.m., and took a bus to go back to his dormitory in the evening. In summer, it was very hot in the workshop, while in winter, it was freezing. From 2014 to 2016, he worked in the Palace Museum, focusing on protective restoration(修复) and replication(复制) work. Through several years of devoted study and practice, Hou has won many honors and titles.
In early 2022, the company joined hands with other local museums to launch handcrafted watches. The highlight of these watches lies in their appearance, which combines Peony flowers, highly favored in the Tang Dynasty, and the artistic concept of Maurits Cornelis Escher, a famous Dutch printmaker. The watch was soon sold out after being put on the market. Hou was thus inspired by this experience. “Excellent intangible cultural heritage works are not those thrown into museums for exhibition, but those that live up to modern aesthetic(审美的) level and modern life,” he said.
Hou said that he gauges an intangible cultural heritage item by the value it produces and the profits it brings, “If consumers are not interested in such works and inheritors can’t earn a living by doing the job, then these works have no value and the inheritance is worthless,” he added.
24. What made Hou Xue change his career plan?
A. The advice from his college teachers
B. A visit to a palace arts exhibition
C. His great love for newspaper editing
D. The high salary of the craft industry
25. What can we infer from Hou Xue's working experience?
A. No pain, no gain B. Actions speak louder than words
C. Many hands make light work D. Time and tide wait for no man
26. What does Hou Xue want to express in Paragraph 4?
A. Tang Dynasty art is not popular among modern people
B. Handcrafted watches are the most profitable intangible cultural heritage
C. Great intangible cultural heritage should connect with modern life
D. Museums should stop exhibiting traditional intangible cultural heritage works
27. What does the underlined word “gauges” probably mean in the last paragraph?
A. Judges B. Invents C. Collects D. Describes
C
How often do you feel like a busy little bee, travelling around from here to there, trying very hard to please others as well as making a living? I have been feeling like a busy little bee all my life. At school, I was very busy doing homework, studying for exams, and making friends. I was also very busy trying not to get into too much trouble. When I left school, I became busy finding a good job, and then busy trying to raise a happy family. In my busyness, I often overlooked the simple pleasures in life. I stopped living in the “now”. I was always too busy looking toward achieving my next big goal.
Work and study had taken priority in my life. I worked and studied five days a week; sometimes six or seven. My children started complaining that I was always busy and that I never had time for them. I knew they were right, but I did not know how to stop the wheel from spinning. Just like a little bee that goes out to collect pollen to nurture the young and grow the population of the hive, I thought that my busyness ensured that I could supply all my family’s needs. How wrong I was. I failed to supply some of their needs, and I also failed to supply some of mine.
While climbing the highest mountain in Bali, Indonesia, three weeks ago, Mother Nature gave me a few valuable lessons in balance. Not the type of balance needed to stay standing upright, but the type needed to become a healthy, balanced vessel to bring about positive change in this world. In the ten hours that it took me to climb up and down the mountain, I had time to reflect on how, in the last six years, I have been so busy feeding my mental self and a little of my spiritual and emotional self that I have completely neglected my physical self. Struggling up that mountain, I had to borrow much needed energy from my mental and spiritual self to support my emotional and physical self. It was a very tiring experience, which has since brought about much-needed change in my life. The pearl of wisdom that I discovered on that tough hike up the mountain was that I should love, respect, and feed all of my “selves”. The one “self” is just as important as the other.
Give equal attention to your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual self.
All of these are needed if you wish to become a balanced vessel.
28. Why does the writer compare herself to a busy little bee?
A. Because she keeps herself busy with various daily things
B. Because she likes collecting things like a little bee
C. Because she is always busy helping others for free
D. Because she has a lot of homework to finish every day
29. What made the writer change her lifestyle greatly?
A. Her children’s continuous complaints
B. Her terrible physical health condition
C. The experience of climbing a mountain in Bali
D. The advice from her friends and family
30. What does the underlined phrase “a balanced vessel” probably mean?
A. A person who is good at climbing mountains and doing exercise
B. A person who pays equal attention to all aspects of his/her life
C. A container that can keep all kinds of liquids in balance
D. A person who can always keep calm when facing difficulties
31. Which is the best title for the passage?
A. How to Get Along Well with Your Family
B. How to Keep Healthy by Taking Exercise
C. The Importance of Setting Life Goals
D. The Key to a Balanced and Happy Life
D
From hotter summers to more frequent floods, warming weather is affecting our lives in every way. For animals, however, it’s not just their living environment that’s in danger, but their very existence. Many beloved animals, including penguins and elephants, are at risk of disappearing because of climate change.
A study published on March 7 used fossils(化石)from sea creatures to find out which animals are most vulnerable as our planet’s climate continues to change.
Carried out by the University of Oxford, the study found that the size has a great effect on their extinction because they use up their energy quickly. They need lots of food to stay alive. Unfortunately, small animals often live in narrow or limited spaces. Furthermore, small animals usually don’t live as long as larger ones, making them easily influenced by factors that might cause their extinction.
Another problem is that small animals generally don’t travel far, so if their home is disturbed, or if new dangers threaten it, it may be hard for them to find new homes, or enough for them to survive. What’s worse, small animals often have more babies, which means it’s harder for them to ensure the safety of their children. In other words, they are at more risk of going extinct, according to the study.
Besides small animals, those living in extreme heat or cold — such as the poles(地极)— face more threats. These areas experience great climate changes, making life harder for species already dealing with tough conditions. As climate change gets worse, these extreme environments change more quickly, bringing more danger to the animals there.
This study offers important information on protecting wildlife as the world warms. “Knowing which creatures are most at risk is very important for planning how to protect them,” commented Earth. org. By focusing on the most at-risk species, conservationists(环境保护主义者)can do their work better, use limited resources well and improve the chances of keeping biodiversity alive despite environmental challenges.
32. What does the underlined word “vulnerable” probably mean in paragraph 2?
A. likely to be harmed. B. Difficult to be affected.
C. Possible to be forgotten. D. Unnecessary to be protected.
33. Why are smaller animals more likely to die out?
A. More enemies and less places to hide.
B. Short life period and little need for food.
C. Easy destruction of habitats and slow growth.
D. High energy burning and inability to move far.
34. What can we infer about the species in areas with extreme weathers?
A. Their survival chances are likely to decrease.
B. They might move to safer environments over time.
C. Their population will experience a sharp reduction.
D. They may gradually adapt to the changing conditions.
35. What is the author’s purpose in writing the passage?
A. To explain a research method. B. To introduce the findings of a study.
C. To show conservationists’ difficulties. D. To stress the value of wildlife protection.

When you start to feel tired, that’s usually the signal to go to bed and get some shut-eye. Sometimes, however, you have to stay awake, whether it’s for a late-night shift at work, or an early-morning class. Your first thought might be to reach for a cup of coffee, but that does not always work for everyone. 36 .

Take the opportunity to walk whenever you can. While you may not be able to exercise right then and there, make a habit of exercising regularly, for at least thirty minutes a day.
● 39
Eat eggs, turkey, and a little bit of light toast, or try some cooked oats and yogurt in the morning. Add greens if possible. If you don’t feel right about eating so many vegetables, make a drink with fruits and yogurt, and pick it up on your way to school or work. Eating the right foods can help increase your energy level, make you more awake and focused, and give you some energy to keep you going for a few hours.
● Take a power nap
If you’re at home or at work, taking the time to take a quick power nap for 5-20 minutes can help you give your system the energy that it needs to keep going. 40 . How can we keep healthy? In order to eat healthily, I usually avoid 59 (eat) food high in fat, like French fries or cookies, 60 are all junk foods. I eat plenty of vegetables and fresh fruit every day. Besides, I only eat a little meat. On the 61 hand, doing exercise is of great importance. Taking exercise every day 62 (help) us build a strong body. Regular exercise is an important part of keeping us healthy.
What's more, I think friends are an important part of one's health. I always feel better when I am with friends than when I am alone. When I am with friends, I always laugh heartily. Laughing is also an important part of health. It is good 63 (stay) with my friends often.
By eating properly and exercising 64 (regular), I can keep my body at a proper weight. By spending time with my friends, I can keep my mind as well as my body happy. A 12-year-old boy saw something in a shop window that set his heart racing. It was a necklace with shining pearls. But the price, five dollars would buy almost a week’s groceries for his family.
Reuben couldn’t ask his father for the money. Everything his father made through fishing went to his mother, Dora, who struggled to feed and clothe her five children.
Nevertheless, he opened the shop’s door and went inside. Standing proud and straight in his flour-sack shirt and washed-out trousers, he told the shopkeeper what he wanted, adding, “Once we went to New York, my mum saw the same one. I know she liked it very much, because she fixed her eyes on it. I will buy it for her. But I don’t have the money right now. Can you please hold it for me for some time?”
“I’ll try,” the shop owner smiled. “People around here don’t usually have that kind of money to spend on such good-looking but costly things. It should keep for a while. ”
Reuben respectfully touched his worn cap and walked out. He had made up his mind to raise the five dollars and not tell anybody.
Hearing the sound of hammering from a side street, Reuben had an idea. He discovered that he could collect the hessian sacks (麻袋) thrown away in the street and sell them back for five cents a piece.
Every day after school, Reuben walked down the town, collecting the hessian sacks. On the day when summer holiday began, no student was more delighted than Reuben. Now he would have more time for his “work”.
All summer long, Reuben kept on his secret task. Soon the leaves fell and the winds blew cold. Reuben wandered in the streets, diligently searching for his hessian treasures. Often, he was cold, tired and hungry, but the thought of the object in the shop window supported him.
Eventually, the time had come! It was Mothers’ Day. He poured the coins out and began to count. Then he counted again. He made it! Exactly five dollars, not a cent more, not a cent less.
