May Day is coming. Our students will have a five-day holiday. To make sure your kids are safe, please let them pay attention to the following tips:
Keep safe while swimming
Stay away from fire
Don’t swim alone or in unsafe areas. Always follow safety rules near water, and wear a life jacket if necessary. If someone is drowning (溺水), call for help. Throw a floating device (装置) or life suit nearby to him. Avoid entering water if you don’t know the situation under water.
Do not play with matches or fire. Learn how to use a fire extinguisher (灭火器) and know the emergency exits (紧急出口) in your school and home. When there is fire happening by accident, stay calm, leave at once, and use stairs, not lifts. Cover your nose and mouth with a wet towel and stay low if there’s smoke. Call 119 for help.
Set up Fraud Awareness (防诈意识)
Avoid getting hurt while doing sports
Be careful online and avoid sharing personal information with strangers. Don’t trust strangers online. If someone asks for money or ID card number or family address, refuse their requests (请求) or call 96110 for help.

D
In English classes, we spend a large amount of time studying grammar and learning new words. We work hard to improve our reading and listening skills. Few of us, however, pay enough attention to body language. So body language is not important, is it?
The answer is, “Yes!” As the old saying goes, “Actions speak louder than words.” Sometimes, we can communicate things even without a single word. For example, shrugging (耸肩) our shoulders, and, without a word, we’ve just said, “I don’t know.”
Body language can help us stress what we are saying. It can help us express our true inner feelings. Moreover, body language can help us find out if someone is lying. Often, people who are lying do not make eye contact (接触). They may turn away or raise their shoulders because they are uncomfortable with the conversation.
In job interviews, the interviewers can sometimes size up the interviewee before he or she speaks. Body language is important in our personal lives, too. It can show if you really care about your friends. Leaning (倾斜) forward into the conversation, for example, means you are interested in what is being said. Listening without making eye contact means you are not paying attention but are waiting for your turn to speak.
Scientists have been studying body language for a long time. They say more than 70 per cent of our messages are delivered through body language. Sometimes, body language is more exact than the words we use.
So it is very important for us to learn body language. By understanding body language, we are less likely to be misunderstood. We will find it easier to get a job. We will also have lasting friendships.
13.The writer mentioned the old saying “Actions speak louder than words.” in order to show that ________.
A.body language is important in communication
B.it is impossible for us to communicate without using words
C.we don’t need to speak when communicating with other people
D.what you have said is more important than what you have done
14.According to the article, people who are lying may ________.
A.sit still B.lean forward C.avoid eye contact D.shrug their shoulders
15.According to the passage, body language can help us do all the following except ________.
A.do well in a job interview B.lie without being noticed
C.prevent misunderstandings D.show we care about our friends
16.By writing this article, the writer mainly wants to ________.
A.help readers improve their language skills
B.teach readers to understand body language
C.show readers how to find out if someone is lying
D.tell readers it is important to learn body language
【答案】13.A 14.C 15.B 16.D
这与A选项“body language is important in communication”的意思一致。
14.根据文章第三段“Often, people who are lying do not make eye contact”(通常,说谎的人不会进行眼神交流),可以推断出说谎者可能会避免眼神接触。这与C选项“avoid eye contact”相符。“raise their shoulders”(抬起肩膀),而“shrug their shoulders”(耸肩) 是文章第二段提到的,用来表示“我不知道”的日常沟通动作,并不是说谎的特征。排除D。
15.文章提到肢体语言可以帮助我们在面试中表现更好(do well in a job interview)、减少误解(prevent misunderstandings)以及展示对朋友的关心(show we care about our friends)。但文中说的是肢体语言能帮我们“发现”谎言,而不是帮助我们“说谎而不被发现”(lie without being noticed)。因此,B选项是文中未提及的。
16.全文围绕肢体语言的重要性展开,从沟通、识破谎言、面试到个人生活,最后总结“it is very important for us to learn body language”(学习肢体语言对我们来说非常重要)。因此,作者写这篇文章的主要目的是告诉读者学习肢体语言的重要性,这与D选项“tell readers it is important to learn body language”相符。
第二节 阅读短文,从方框内所给的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,其中有一个多余的选项。
Should Children Use AI?

NO— 20

19.前文提到儿童可以用AI做作业,此处需补充使用AI带来的积极感受,A项“Sometimes they use AI tools for fun”与后文“That makes them feel relaxed”构成合理的解释关系,符合语境。
20.本段为反对方观点,首句需概括反对理由,后文指出AI不完善、信息可能错误等,C项“AI is too dangerous for young people”作为段落总起句,与后文“protect children from any possible danger”及其他具体问题相呼应,逻辑连贯。

Teen mental health has become one of the hottest social topics in 2026. Today, teenagers are facing more stress than before. Heavy study pressure from endless exams and homework makes more and more teenagers feel worried, stressed and lonely. Some even lose interest in their favorite things and stay in bad moods for a long time. Luckily, teachers, parents and the whole society are working together to help teenagers keep a healthy mind and live a happy life.
Nowadays, nearly every middle school has professional (专业的) mental health teachers. They are patient and well-trained to listen to students’ problems. Students can safely talk about their worries, exam stress, friendship or family problems with these teachers in a safe and private (私密的) environment and get useful, warm advice in private. This safe way lets them speak out their feelings freely, so they don’t have to face difficulties alone. These teachers may advise them to join in some meaningful activities to relax, such as stress-relief games and small psychological lectures (心理讲座). Through these activities, students can learn to know their feelings better.
What can teenagers themselves do? First, it’s important to keep a healthy daily routine-sleep at least 8 hours each night and exercise for 30 minutes every day. Good rest and daily exercise build strong bodies and clear minds, which help us fight against bad feelings. Second, talk to parents or close friends when feeling upset. Don’t keep bad feelings to yourself. Sharing true feelings can take away much pressure and make your heart much lighter.
A new survey in 2026 shows that about 78% of teens feel more positive after trying these ways. Asking for help is not a shame (羞愧), but a brave and wise choice for every teenager. Mental health is as important as physical health. With care from families, schools and society, as well as our own good habits, teens can stay away from negative moods and grow up happily and healthily.

Junk Kouture, set up in Ireland in 2010 by Troy Armour, is a yearly competition for young people aged 12 to 19. Competitors create fashion designs from recycled waste, presenting their creativity while standing for their schools around the world. This year marks the competition’s 16th anniversary.

Professionals (专业人士) from the fields of fashion, art, sustainability (可持续发展) and design judged the entries. Each design also had to show at least one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. According to the organizer, this helps young people connect creativity with global issues and better understand the challenges the world faces, as well as the solutions needed for a better future.
