When someone is choking and cannot breathe, speak, or cough, quick action is needed. One of the most effective first-aid skills to help is the Heimlich maneuver, also known as abdominal thrusts Steps to help adults and children over 1 year old: 1. Stand behind the person and wrap your arms around their waist (腰). Keep your feet shoulder-width apart for balance. 2. Make a fist (拳头) with one hand. Place the thumb side of your fist just above the person’s navel (肚脐) but well below the chest. 3. Grasp your fist with your other hand and give quick, strong, inward and upward thrusts. Imagine trying to lift the person up. Repeat these thrusts until the object is forced out or the person starts breathing or coughing. 4. If the person becomes unconscious (无意识的), stop the thrusts. Lower them gently to the ground, start CPR immediately, and call 120 for emergency help. If you are the only one there to help, start CPR first and call 120 after about two minutes. Special situations: For pregnant (怀孕的) women or very overweight people: Instead of placing your hands on the belly (腹部), place them at the center of the chest, just above where the lowest ribs (肋骨) meet. Give backward thrusts instead of upward ones. If you are alone and choking: You can perform the Heimlich maneuver on yourself. Place your fist just above your navel, grasp it with your other hand, and thrust inward and upward against a hard object like the back of a chair or a table edge. For infants (婴幼儿) under 1 year old: Never use abdominal thrusts on infants. Instead, follow these steps: 1. Sit or kneel and hold the infant face down along your arm, supporting their head and jaw (下巴). Give five quick back slaps between the shoulder blades (肩胛骨). 2. If the object doesn’t come out, turn the infant face up on your thigh (大腿) and give five quick chest thrusts using two fingers at the center of the chest. 3. Repeat back slaps and chest thrusts until the object comes out or the infant starts to cry or breathe. Why acting fast matters: When the brain goes without oxygen for more than four minutes, serious damage (损伤) can occur (出现). In choking emergencies, every second counts. Staying calm and knowing what to do can make the difference between life and death. 1. Which situation might need the Heimlich maneuver? A. Jim, 1 year old, fell down on the ground heavily while playing. B. Kate, 7 years old, couldn’t breathe suddenly while having breakfast. C. Grace, 35 years old, was hit by a car while waiting at the traffic light. D. Bob, 50 years old, felt too tired after working a long time before the computer. 2. Wang Lin was eating Tanghulu on the way home from school when his friend slapped his back suddenly. Wang Lin couldn’t speak and his face started to turn blue. What should we do? A. B. C. D. 3. After doing the Heimlich maneuver for a time, the man still can’t give any responses (反应). What should we do? A. Keep doing the Heimlich maneuver and then start CPR quickly. B. Lower him gently to the ground, start CPR immediately, and call 120. C. Place our hands at the center of the chest and give backward thrusts. D. Give five quick chest thrusts using two fingers at the center of the chest. 4. Please match the special situations with the right ways to give help when choking with food. a. A 150kg man. b. Only Liu Yu himself. c. A 10-month-old baby boy. ① Hold his face down along the helper’s arm and give five quick back slaps between the shoulder blades. ② Place the helper’s hands above where the lowest ribs meet and then give backwards thrusts. ③ Place his fist just above his navel and thrust inward and upward against a hard object. A. a-① b-② c-③ B. a-② b-① c-③ C. a-③ b-① c-② D. a-② b-③ c-① 5. What is the source of this passage? A. A fashion design website. B. A fitness guidebook. C. A First Aid Handbook. D. A science textbook. B Last summer, I was a shy teenager who seldom spoke in class. The thought of stepping into unfamiliar situations scared me. I even refused to join many school activities because of this fear. However, my school started a community service program, and my teacher encouraged me to join. Many of my classmates signed up eagerly, but I felt nervous just thinking about it. After much hesitation (犹豫), I finally signed up to help at an after-school center for young children from poor families. On my first day, my heart pounded as I walked through the door. The room was noisy, with kids running around, and I felt completely out of place. I was asked to help seven-year-old Leo with his reading. Leo had trouble focusing and often threw his book aside. I had no idea how to connect with him. For a moment, I wanted to run away. But then I remembered how nervous I used to feel about reading aloud in class. Taking a deep breath, I sat beside him. Instead of forcing (迫使) him to read, I asked about his interests. His eyes lit up when he talked about space. I found a simple book about astronauts and said, “Let’s act it out together. You can be the astronaut, and I’ll be your helper.” Slowly, Leo began to sound out words. Each time he finished a page, I cheered for him. Over the following weeks, I learned to be patient and creative. I used drawings and fun games to make reading enjoyable. Leo’s confidence grew day by day, and so did mine. By the end of summer, Leo could read short books by himself. His smile when he finished his first book alone was unforgettable. More importantly, I discovered something about myself—I was able to face challenges. I learned how to guide others, think of new ideas, and stay calm under pressure. This experience taught me that stepping out of my comfort zone helped me grow. Now, I no longer fear trying new things. ▲ Sometimes, helping others is the best way to help yourself. 6. Which underlined word has the same meaning as pound in the sentence “my heart pounded as I walked through the door.”? A. The artillery (炮兵) pounded the enemies for three hours. B. How did the author successfully get Leo interested in reading? A. She made him read aloud regularly every day. B. She found a new book about space and read it together. C. She asked about his interests and made a role-play with him. D. She forced him to finish one full page and then play a role. 8. What important change did the author experience through this volunteering experience? A. She discovered that she enjoyed working with little children. B. C Pets Allowed on High-Speed Trains in New Trial China has been testing a pet-friendly service on some high-speed trains between Beijing and Shanghai since April 9, 2025. For the first time, passengers can bring their cats or dogs on these trains if they book a special space in advance (提前). The service is available on 10 trains connecting five major stations: Beijing South, Jinan West, Nanjing South, Shanghai Hongqiao, and Hangzhou East. Pets must be healthy cats or dogs weighing less than 15 kg and no taller than 40 cm. Owners need to show their ID and a pet health certificate (证书). Pets will stay in special boxes with air, oxygen and sensors during the trip. Train workers will check the pets every two hours but owners can’t visit them during the ride. Booking opens at least two days before travel on the 12306 website. Owners must arrive 2-6 hours early to complete check-in. Pets and owners will take the same train and arrive together. After the trip, owners have one hour to collect their pets. During the test period, prices are 30% lower. For example, a trip under 1,000 km costs 360 yuan (normally 558 yuan). The Beijing-Shanghai route (1,300 km) costs 460 yuan instead of 658 yuan. This price is similar to a second-class train ticket for humans. Each booking includes 2,000 yuan of insurance Many pet owners are happy with the service. A cat owner from Beijing said, “It makes traveling easier.” However, some worry about pets feeling stressed. A Shanghai woman with two cats said, “I hope future trains will have special carriages (客车厢) where pets can stay with owners.” Before this trial (试验期), China’s high-speed trains didn’t allow pets. The idea became popular after a 2022 online survey conducted by China Railway which received millions of comments. Railway officials said they wanted to improve travel services for pet owners. 11. Which of the following groups of stations ALL provide the “Pets Allowed on High-Speed Trains” service during the trial? A. Beijing South, Shanghai Hongqiao and Hangzhou East. B. Jinan East, Shanghai Hongqiao, and Hangzhou East. C. Beijing West, Shanghai Hongqiao, and Hangzhou East. D. Nanjing South, Shanghai West, and Hangzhou East. 12. What kind of pets can enjoy Pets Allowed on High-Speed Trains service? A. A rabbit without a health certificate. B. A sick but kind squirrel with its ID. C. A healthy cat which weighs 16 kg. D. A friendly dog which is 35 cm. 13. Zhang Yiling and her family are going to move to another city with her little cat. They would like to book the tickets from Beijing to Shanghai at noon on the 1st of May. When should they arrive at the Beijing South Station? A. They’d better arrive on the last day of April. B. They should get there at about 9 am on May 1st. C. It’s better to arrive there one hour earlier. D. It’s better not to be later than 12 o’clock on that day. 14. How do the pet owners feel about the Pets Allowed on High-Speed Trains service? A. Many of them are satisfied with it for they can travel more easily. B. Some people are worried that pets may get lost while travelling. C. Almost everyone likes the idea because of the cheap price and nice workers. D. Less than half of them refused the service for it may make pets worried. 15. Please try to guess what will happen next about the Pets Allowed on High-Speed Trains service according to the passage. A. The service will be greatly improved and work better. B. Supported by the public, more railway stations will be built. C. Some people will still feel worried and the service may be stopped. D. Since there will be no carriage, pets won’t be allowed to stay with owners. D On March 20, 2026, China saw a rare overlap (重叠) of the Dragon Head Raising Festival and the Spring Equinox. This special situation happens about once every 19 years, and the last time was in 2007. The Dragon Head Raising Festival is on the second day of the second lunar month. It comes from old beliefs about nature and renewal (更新). In Chinese folklore (民间传说), the dragon wakes up with spring thunder, bringing life back to the land. People see this day as a fresh start and hope for good harvests. People across China keep many lovely traditions. Getting a haircut is popular—it means leaving bad luck behind and welcoming new chances. There are also special “dragon-themed” foods: spring pancakes for dragon scales, noodles for dragon whiskers, and wontons (馄饨) for dragon eyes. These dishes show wishes for health and good luck. Some families use herbs (药草) to drive away insects, hoping for well-being and successful farming. The Spring Equinox is one of China’s 24 Solar Terms. On this day, the sun crosses the celestial equator (天赤道), making day and night almost equal in length around the world. The weather gets warmer, swallows return, and thunder becomes more frequent. With mild weather, enough rain and bright sunshine, crops grow fast. So the equinox is very important for agriculture (农业). The two events together have double meanings. The festival stands for rain, vitality (活力) and the start of spring farming. The equinox represents balance, harmony and natural growth. Together, they show the deep link between Chinese culture and nature, and express people’s common hope for good weather and fruitful years. 16. In which year will we see the overlap of the Dragon Head Raising Festival and the Spring Equinox happen? A. In 2027. B. In 2030. C. In 2035. D. In 2045. 17. What does the underlined word “it” refer to in Paragraph 2? A. The second lunar month. B. Dragon Head Raising Festival. C. A Chinese folklore. D. A spring thunder. 18. Which of the following traditions are mentioned in the Dragon Head Raising Festival? ①getting a haircut ②eating rice dumplings ③eating dragon-themed foods ④driving away insects with herbs A. ①②③ B. ②③④ C. ①②④ D. ①③④ 19. What’s the meaning of the Spring Equinox in Paragraph 4? 20. What’s the role of the underlined sentence in Paragraph 5? A. To lead in the following text. B. To summarize central theme. C. To provide explaining note. D. To provide transition (过渡) links. 三、短文还原(共5空,每空2分,计10分) The next moment soldiers came running through the wood, at first in twos and threes, then ten or twenty together, ____21____. It first appeared in the Ming Dynasty. In the early days, it was a special festival performance created and performed by local blacksmiths to celebrate happy moments. Today, this amazing ancient skill has developed into a world-famous artistic show, attracting countless visitors from home and abroad every year. The performance of Datiehua is breathtaking as well as extremely dangerous. Skilled blacksmiths heat iron to 1,500℃ until it turns bright red. They hit the hot iron with heavy hammers. Many golden sparks fly up into the night sky, like beautiful golden flowers blooming in the air. Though performers wear thick and professional protective clothing for safety, they still need great courage, solid (坚硬的) skills and rich experience to finish the amazing show perfectly. Nuanquan Town in Hebei Province is widely famous as the birthplace and best place to enjoy classic Datiehua shows. 6. D 17. B 18. D 19. C 20. 【16题详解】 第一段提到“This special situation happens about once every 19 years, and the last time was in 2007.”,由此可推算,2026年重合后,下一次重合时间为2045年。 【17题详解】 第二段前句提到“The Dragon Head Raising Festival is on the second day of the second lunar month.”,后句的“It”承接前文,指代“The Dragon Head Raising Festival”。 【18题详解】 第三段提到龙抬头的传统包括:getting a haircut/eating dragon-themed foods/driving away insects with herbs,并未提及eating rice dumplings。 【19题详解】 第四段首句“The Spring Equinox is one of China’s 24 Solar Terms.”,结合常识与文中“day and night almost equal in length”的描述,可知“The Spring Equinox”意为“春分”。 【20题详解】 第五段划线句“The two events together have double meanings.” 三、短文还原(共5空,每空2分,计10分) The next moment soldiers came running through the wood, at first in twos and threes, then ten or twenty together, ____21____. Alice got behind a tree and watched them go past. They were very strange soldiers, she thought. They were always falling over something or other, and when one soldier went down, several more always fell over him. ____22____. Then came the horses. With four feet, they managed better than the foot-soldiers, ____23____. And when a horse fell, the rider always fell off at once. It was almost like a battle in itself, and Alice decided it would be safer to move on. Soon she came to an open place, ____24____, busily writing in his notebook. ‘I’ve sent them all!’ the King cried happily when he saw Alice. ‘Did you happen to meet any soldiers, my dear, as you came through the wood?’ ‘Yes, I did,’ said Alice. ‘Several thousand, I think.’ ‘Four thousand two hundred and seven,’ the King said, looking at his book. ‘I couldn’t send all the horses, ____25____. And I haven’t sent the Messengers, Haigha and Hatta. I need them myself, of course-to come and go. One to come, and one to go.’ ‘I don’t think I understand,’ said Alice. ‘Why one to come and one to go?’ ‘I’ve told you,’ the King said crossly. ‘I must have two-to fetch and carry. One to fetch, and one to carry.’ At that moment Haigha, one of the Messengers, arrived. He had very large hands and great eyes, which were always moving wildly from side to side. ——Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There A. because two of them are wanted in the game B. Soon the ground was covered with fallen men C. but even they fell more often than not D. and at last in great crowds that seemed to fill the forest E. where she found the White King sitting on the ground F. Because she wanted to hear the news too 【答案】21. D 22. B 23. C 24. E 25. 【21题详解】 根据前文“at first in twos and threes, then ten or twenty together”可知,此处描述士兵出现的数量越来越多。选项D“and at last in great crowds...”与前文的“at first... then...” 【22题详解】 前文提到士兵们总是被绊倒,“when one soldier went down, several more always fell over him”。选项B“Soon the ground was covered with fallen men”正是对这种连环摔倒现象所导致结果的自然顺承描述。 C“but even they fell more often than not”在此处构成转折,完美衔接了前后文的逻辑。 【24题详解】 前文“Soon she came to an open place”需要一个定语从句来修饰地点,且后半句“busily writing in his notebook”中的“his”表明此处出现了一位男性人物。选项E“where she found the White King sitting on the ground”既用where引导了地点状语从句,又引出了后文对话的关键人物“白国王”,符合语境。 【25题详解】 前文白国王说“I couldn’t send all the horses”,此处应解释不能全部派出的原因。 A“because two of them are wanted in the game”合理解释了原因,符合故事背景与语境。 hair because tradition with internet they one true strong direction industry China has just revealed (揭示) a new material called T1200 carbon fiber (碳纤维). (to) do sth. keep... clean/relaxed意为“保持……干净/放松”。句子主语“Wearing indoor slippers”是动名词短语,谓语动词需用第三人称单数形式。或可以用情态动词加动词原形表示“可以、能够”。 【44题详解】 句意:年轻人发现这些简单的习惯给他们的身心带来巨大的好处。bring benefits to... 五、阅读表达(共5小题,计10分) Datiehua, also known as the Iron Flower Show, is a precious traditional Chinese intangible cultural heritage (中国非物质文化遗产) with a history of more than 500 years. AI brings us great convenience. It can answer questions immediately and finish tasks efficiently. When I have trouble solving difficult homework, I often turn to AI for useful ideas. However, AI is a double-edged sword. Once I copied answers from AI directly, and I soon found I couldn’t work out similar problems. Gradually, I almost lost the ability to think independently and became lazy. After all, the process of thinking is more valuable. In my opinion, we should use AI as a helpful tool, not a replacement. We should keep our own thinking. Only in this way can we grow better in the AI age. 要点二:人工智能的弊 人工智能的弊说明:lose the ability to think independently/lack creative thinking ability/weaken our own learning ability/depend on it too much in daily life…
