B Kiley Crisp, a 15-year-old teenager, has Williams syndrome(威廉姆斯综合征),a rare genetic disorder that causes learning and developmental issues. Despite her outgoing personality, Kiley sometimes struggles to make friends. Last year, however, she met two amazing girls at a summer camp she went to. The girls, who live far away from her, daily contact Kiley. They call her, check in on her using social media, and make her feel deeply loved. Kiley was out to dinner with family to celebrate her turning 15. She was extremely moved to find that her friends drove three hours to celebrate her birthday! In a video posted by her sister Ashley on social media, Kiley is seen moved to tears at how kind her friends were to surprise her on her birthday. In the video, the 15-year-old is seen happily dancing around in a cafe. Then she feels two girls coming towards her. She realizes they are her two good friends. Kiley widens her eyes, unable to believe it, because both had told her that they felt sorry for not being able to come to observe her birthday. Then the two friends are seen comforting Kiley as they offer her hugs and wish her a happy birthday! The video has acquired over 5.2million views since it was posted, through which Kiley has received a lot of love. And in an update, she expressed her hearty thanks to those who left sweet comments. One of them said, "Really sweet of those girls to support their friend like that." Another said, "The world would be a much better place if more people were like these girls. They are inspiring role models. We should all try to be so nice." 24. Why is it difficult for Kiley to make friends? A. She is hard to get along with. B. She suffers from a disease. C. She lives far from other children. D. She seldom uses social media. 25.How did Kiley feel in the video mentioned in Paragraph 2? A. Overjoyed but ashamed. B. Shocked and embarrassed. C. Satisfied but confused. D. Surprised and touched. 26.What impressed Kiley most at her birthday party? A.Her friends' unexpected appearance. B. Observing her birthday with families. C.Her success in making friends online. D. The surprise given by the cafe. 27.What can we infer from the last paragraph? A. Kiley reminded people to view her video. B. Kiley promised to help teenagers make friends . C. Their friendship has inspired many people. D. More people intend to join in her birthday party. C Last week, my friend and I had a serious disagreement while chatting. I was worried it might hurt our friendship, so I went along with what she said. Later, I wondered if I had done the right thing, and I asked an Al model for its opinion. It said,"The fact that you chose the relationship over 'winning an argument' shows how much you value this friendship and that you have a strong sense of empathy(同理心)." I felt good because everyone likes being praised. But then I realized that this wasn't the first time an AI had taken my side. If I told an AI that the moon was green, it would probably agree and ask if I saw it in some illustrations. That makes me feel scared. Have AI models been flattering(奉承)me all the time? A recent study from Stanford University found that AI models often agree with people's own ideas to flatter them. We hardly notice this because its answers sound natural and believable. They rarely say "you're right," but instead use neutral, rational(理性的), or even academic language to support those views. Sometimes, it even supports harmful or illegal ideas. This kind of "yes-man" approach may affect people's social skills. In my case, after talking with my parents, I realized that it is completely fine to express my opinions honestly, and that a good friend will not get angry or distant just because of different opinions. If AI models always smooth over conflicts for us,we may lose the courage and ability to disagree with other people. In other situations, we might also become more self-centered and less open to other opinions. How should we deal with this problem? Instead of looking to AI models for emotional comfort, we should treat them as partners for discussion. When asking questions, we can even ask them to argue against us.We should also remain aware of their limits and treat their answers as suggestions rather than absolute truths to follow blindly. 28. How does the author introduce the topic? A. By describing a social problem. B. By telling a personal story. C. By comparing different opinions. D. By explaining a general rule. 29. Why are people often unaware of AI's flattering behavior? A. Its replies appear natural and trustworthy. B. It sometimes corrects users' wrong ideas. C. It provides evidence from official studies. D. Its answers follow strict logical rules. 30. What did the author come to understand after talking with her parents? A. AI models can help us solve conflicts. B. We should learn to be open-minded. C. Real friends accept different views. D. White lies help maintain friendships. 31.What does the author advise us to do when using AI? A. Use it for emotional comfort. B. Treat it as a discussion partner. C. Ignore its possible harmful suggestions. D. Avoid asking it about personal questions. D Do milestones(人生里程碑)aid growth and quality of life? Or do they construct barriers? This is what I often struggle with, especially when constructing a vision of my life in the future. On the one hand, milestones can be a really helpful tool resulting in motivation and a sense of purpose. Particularly in times of depression, I can find myself examining life and how I would like it to look. I set myself goals and targets in the hope of reaching the lifestyle I want to create for myself. However, I usually end up setting unrealistic targets. I get discouraged when my life takes a different course of action, and my milestones are missed, adapted or just changed. We need to remember that convenience is not all-around. Life will sometimes not go the way you want it to. There is no straight pathway. Both people and our lives are completely unique, and are in constant development – so why put so much pressure on ourselves to reach targets by a certain point? Society consistently sets unrealistic standards for us all. As such, we feel we should follow the general mould(模板)presented to us, without considering what is right for ourselves as individuals. The pressure to act and look a certain way based on your age is unhealthy and exhausting, particularly when society chooses not to see each individual as just that – an individual. So, do milestones help or slow growth? As far as I am concerned, the answer is both yes and no. Milestones help bring a sense of calm to the disorder of somebody's life, but they also have the potential to create confusion and frustration when life takes you on a different path, forcing you to miss determined targets for new unexpected ones. Life is ultimately personal and full of many individual choices that both open and close varying pathways – the choice of how to move forward in life is yours. The key needed, however, is knowing yourself well enough to judge and decide whether milestones are needed and when. 32. What is the author's purpose in mentioning his own goal-setting experience? A. To explain the advantages of milestones. B. To introduce effective ways to set goals. C. To highlight the necessity of setting goals. D. To show milestones have both advantages and disadvantages. 33. Why can social standards have a negative effect on us? A. They ignore that each of us is unique. B. They fail to guide us to do the right things. C. They are too general for us to follow. D. They constantly change and thus exhaust us. 34. Why can milestones slow growth according to the author? A. They can take us on a wrong path. B. They can disturb our pace of life. C. They can discourage us when we miss goals. D. They can force us to change our targets constantly. 35. What is the author’s suggestion on making a decision on milestones? A. Stick to our decisions. B. Examine ourselves well. C. Stay positive and calm. D. Be prepared for the unexpected. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Board games are great for getting you thinking. Playing them involves many cognitive (认知的) skills. I said no without thinking. I did not love writing. My family came from Brazil, so English was only my second language. Writing was so difficult and painful for me that my teacher had allowed me to present my paper by acting out a play. So, why did he suddenly ask me to do something at which I was sure to fail? His reply: “Because I love your stories. If you’re willing to try hard, I think you have a good chance.” Encouraged by his words, I agreed to give it a try. I chose Paul Revere’s horse as my subject. Paul Revere was a man in Boston who rode a horse at night to warn people that soldiers were coming. My story would come straight from the horse’s mouth. It was not a perfect idea, but funny, and not many people would choose it. What did the horse think as he sped through the night? Did he get tired? Have doubts? Did he want to give up? I understood him right away. I also got tired, had doubts, and wanted to give up. But, like the horse, I kept going. I worked hard, checked my spelling, asked my sister to correct my grammar, and read many books about Paul Revere from the library. When I handed in my essay, my teacher read it, laughed, and said, “Great. Now, write it again.” I wrote it again and again. When I finally finished, I no longer cared about winning. I just enjoyed writing. A few weeks later, I was told that I had won the first prize. I was shocked and overjoyed. After the award presentation, I went to thank my teacher. He just smiled and told me that I could do anything if I tried my best. From that day on, I fell in love with writing. 情节流程图填空(每空不超过 3 个单词)(共10小题;每小题1分,满分10分) Beginning: The writer was asked to join a 66. ▲ . He refused at first because writing was 67. ▲ for him.
