四、阅读理解(共 15 小题,满分 30 分)
A
Want to know what your friends are really like? Take a look at their music playlist. More than 36,000 people, took part in an experiment. It compared their personalities with how much they liked different musical styles. The results show that personalities do influence what we listen to. Here’s what certain musical styles say about who you are.
Rock
Like the sound of loud guitars and heavy drum beats? This type of music sounds very exciting, but fans of it are often quite gentle.
Country music
If cowboy hats and guitars get you singing along, it’s possible that you’re hard-working, preferring traditional styles and values.
Jazz
Fans of this strong music always come up with new ideas and are good at learning. If you like the saxophone of John Coltrane, then you’re probably self-confident and easy to get on with.
Classical music
If Beethoven and Mozart have you turning up the music, you’re probably quiet, but happy with who you are and comfortable with the world around you.
But the experiment didn’t tell the whole story: where we grow up, who we often go out with, and our personal experiences play into our taste, too. The songs you choose to be part of your life make you different from others. But no matter what style you like, music is for everyone. And enjoying different types of music lets you get a taste of cultures you might not have experienced before. So experiment with your playlist!
26. What influences our musical taste according to the experiment?
A. Personalities. B. Friends. C. Parents. D. Instruments.
27. According to the passage, if Daniel is creative, what may be found in his playlist?
A. Rock. B. Country music. C. Jazz. D. Classical music.
28. What may be the writer’s advice for us?
A. Changing our personalities.
B. Trying different types of music.
C. Doing experiments with friends.
D. Getting more learning experiences.
【答案】26. A 27. C 28. B
【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,介绍了一项涵盖36, 000多人的实验结果,表明性格会影响人们的音乐品味。
【26题详解】
第一段表明实验结果:“The results show that personalities do influence what we listen to.”,影响我们音乐品味的是个性。
【27题详解】
关于Jazz的描述“Fans of this strong music always come up with new ideas and are good at learning.”说明,喜欢爵士这种强烈音乐的人总是能想出新点子,并且善于学习。由此可知,如果Daniel有创造力,他的播放列表中可能会有爵士乐。
【28题详解】

The news for Antonio was not good. The ship that sank (沉没) in the sea between England and France was his. Its valuable cargo (货物) lay at the bottom of the sea, and Antonio had lost his money. His friends hoped that there would be no more bad news for him.
Shylock was still angry about his daughter, Jessica, and the news for him was not good, either. He paid people to look for her, but they could not find her. They came back with news about his money she had spent and his jewels she had sold. All this made Shylock angrier and angrier.
However, when he heard that Antonio had lost a ship and all its valuable cargo, he was pleased. He decided that if Antonio could not pay back his debt (债务) when it was due (到期), he would make him pay the penalty. He would take one pound of his flesh (肉). He would choose the heart. Then Antonio would not be able to take business away from him any longer because he would be dead.
The news got worse for Antonio. He lost another ship in a storm near Tripoli. It was a very large ship and its cargo was very valuable. The ship and its cargo sat at the bottom of the sea. The news soon came to Venice, and Shylock was happier than ever. Now he would revenge (复仇) on his old enemy. He looked forward to taking one pound of Antonio’s flesh.
“You will not take a pound of his flesh, will you?” Antonio’s friends asked Shylock. “What use is that? What can you do with it?”
“I can use it to go fishing,” he replied. “I can’t eat it, but it will make me feel good. He has often laughed at me when I lose money. He even laughs at me when I don’t lose money. He lends money to people for no interest and so he takes away my friends and my business. Why does he do this? It is only because I am a Jew. But a Jew is just another person. Don’t I have eyes and hands as he does? Don’t I have feelings and passions (激情) like he does? Don’t I eat the same food? Don’t the same weapon (武器) hurt me as hurt him? Don’t I get sick with the same illnesses as he does? Am I not cured in the same way? Don’t I get hot in summer and cold in winter as he does? If you cut me, won’t I bleed? If you tickle (挠痒) me, won’t I laugh? If you poison (毒害) me, won’t I die? If you do me wrong, won’t I take revenge?”

C. Shylock’s Flesh
D. Bad News for Antonio
【答案】29. C 30. B 31. D
【解析】
【导语】本文节选自莎士比亚戏剧《威尼斯商人》,讲述了商人安东尼奥接连遭遇商船沉没、财富尽失的打击,放债人夏洛克因女儿出走、财产被挥霍而心生怨恨,得知安东尼奥破产后,决意执行债务契约,从安东尼奥身上割下一磅肉作为惩罚,以此报复安东尼奥过往对他的羞辱与排挤。
【29题详解】
第三段内容“He decided that if Antonio could not pay back his debt when it was due. he would make him pay the penalty. He would take one pound of his flesh.”如果安东尼奥不能按时还债,夏洛克就要割他一磅肉,这是一种严重的后果或制裁。因此penalty译为“惩罚”。
【30题详解】
第二段提到夏洛克为找女儿付钱:“He paid people to look for her”,即d。第三段提到安东尼奥向夏洛克借了钱:“if Antonio could not pay back his debt when it was due”,即b。第四段提到安东尼奥在的黎波里附近又失去一艘船:“He lost another ship in a storm near Tripoli”,即a。第五段提到安东尼奥的朋友问夏洛克关于肉的事:“You will not take a pound of his flesh, will you?”,即c。因此顺序为dbac。
【31题详解】
全文围绕安东尼奥不断收到坏消息展开:先是他的船沉没,接着又失去一艘船,而夏洛克因这些坏消息而愈发高兴,准备复仇。文章主要聚焦于安东尼奥所遭遇的一系列厄运,因此“Bad News for Antonio”最能概括全文主旨。
C
When you’re learning a new language, there are a lot of things to remember: spelling rules, grammar rules, punctuation rules... the list is endless. But there’s something that can help you: mnemonics.
Mnemonics are methods to help you remember things, including rhymes, spelling acronyms and sentence mnemonics.
Rhymes are a great help. The sounds, unusual words and rhythm of them help you recall ideas. Do you know when Columbus sailed to America? There’s a rhyme to help you which goes like this, “In fourteen-hundred and ninety-two, Columbus sailed the ocean blue.” Most people who’ve heard this never forget it!
Spelling acronyms include creating a sentence based on the letters of a given word. For example, the following sentence can help you with the spelling of the word “because”, “Big elephants can always understand small elephants”. Notice how the first letter of each word in the sentence spells out the word “because”. This one is designed to remind you to include the “h” in the word “which”, “Which house is Cath’s house?” To spell Mississippi, a rhythm mnemonic is used together with a spelling one: “Mississippi”. And if you can’t remember the spelling of the word “mnemonics”, use this one “Mike never eats meat or nuts in case he’s sick”!
Sentence mnemonics are also useful. The following can help you with the difference between the words “principal” and “principle”, “A principal is your pal at school, and a principle is a belief or rule.” Or this one to help you remember the difference in spelling between “deserts” and “desserts”, “A dessert has two sugars so it’s sweeter, but a desert only has one.” Or this one to clear up the confusion between “stationary” and “stationery”, “The car is stationary. An eraser is stationery”.
You can learn grammar rules with sentence mnemonics too. For example, this one can help you with the position of adjectives, “Adjectives come before nouns just as ‘A’ comes before ‘N’.” And this one can help you learn about the use of apostrophes (撇号), “Apostrophes show that something belongs to someone.”
Mnemonics can help a lot with language learning. Why not try inventing a few of your own!

七、任务型(共 10 小题;每小题 1 分,满分 10 分)
I often catch myself asking my questions to AI chatbots with a “please” and a “thank you.” It seems that I am not alone. A 2024 survey found that about 67% of U.S. AI users are also polite and show gratitude (感谢) toward AI search engines. Some even joked about the cost: if every polite word uses electricity, the bill must be high. Open AI’s CEO Sam Altman replied, “Tens of millions of dollars well spent—you never know.”
In reality, of course, AI chatbots do not value politeness: they lack feelings or social needs. From a purely utilitarian (功利主义的) viewpoint, all those pleases and thank-yous are just a waste of money.
Still, there may be value that is not easy to measure in showing gratitude toward AI. Psychologists Robert Emmons and Michael McCullough carried out an experiment (实验) in which they divided people into three groups, asking the first to list things they were grateful for, while others listed daily troubles or simply kept diaries. After 10 weeks, they found that the first group reported 25% higher levels of happiness, stronger inner strength and even better physical health.
What’s true of gratitude is also true of kindness and generosity more generally. Studies at UC Riverside found that doing “five small acts of kindness per week” produced increases in happiness over time. This idea isn’t new. The medieval thinker Maimonides wrote that “it is better for a person to give one coin to a thousand poor people than to give a thousand coins to one poor person.” He believed that regular (经常性的) kind acts, like giving charity and expressing gratitude, make us happier in the long run by turning virtue (美德) into a habit.
So perhaps all of our pleases and thank-yous to AI have value, even if they cost Open AI millions of dollars annually. Showing gratitude, even toward a machine, strengthens positive habits of politeness, patience and understanding. In our increasingly digital and technology-driven world, protecting these human qualities may be more valuable than the cost of a little extra electricity. In the end, the one who benefits from our politeness isn’t the AI at all, but ourselves.
Why being polite to AI still ____61____
Research ____62____
According to a survey ____63____ out in the USA, 67% of AI users say thanks to AI chatbots.
____64____ it
It is just a waste of money!

● Showing gratitude toward AI led to a 25% ____67____ in happiness, as well as stronger inner strength and better physical health.
● Doing regular kind acts helped ____68____ lasting good habits.
Conclusion
It benefits the machine nothing!
● Human qualities ____69____ politeness, patience and understanding are more valuable than the cost of extra electricity
●____70____ we are polite to AI machines, the real winner is not AI but ourselves.

It is a great help!
● There may be value that isn’t ____66____ measured when we show thanks to AI.
