Dear People of 2026,
I am writing to you from the year 2126. I want to warn you of a problem we face because people depend too much on AI.
Over the past 100 years, humans have let AI do more and more things for them. At first, AI was an excellent helper. Life became easier with AI by their side. But slowly, humans stopped thinking for themselves. Instead, they just let AI make all their choices, such as how to stay healthy, who to be friends with, and what job to do. However, AI, like any tool, is not perfect. It can make mistakes. Sadly, many people didn’t notice this until it was too late. Many people lost control of their own lives, and even worse, some came to trust AI more than they trusted themselves.
I’m not suggesting you should avoid using AI at all. AI can be a useful tool. But you must always be the one in control. Use AI to help you, not to take the place of you. Ask it questions, but always check the answers and always make your own decisions. The more you depend on your own thinking and judgment, the better prepared you’ll be for a future where AI is everywhere.
Just remember: thinking for yourself, being creative, and caring for others are things only humans can do. AI will never have these abilities. The more you use your own brain and heart, the safer you will be in a world full of AI.
Sincerely,
Jill, a worried human from 2126
29. Why does Jill write this letter?
A. To share happy stories about using AI in 2126.
B. To ask people of 2026 to invent more powerful AI.
C. To warn people of 2026 about overdependence on AI.
D. To explain how AI has changed the world in 100 years.
30. Which of the four body paragraphs (Para.1–Para.4) shows AI’s bad influence on humans?
A. Paragraph 1. B. Paragraph 2. C. Paragraph 3. D. Paragraph 4.
31. What advice does Jill give to people of 2026 about AI?
A. They should avoid using AI as much as possible.
B. They can use AI to help but still make their own decisions.
C. They should let AI plan all their daily activities to save time.
D. They should trust AI’s answers without thinking for themselves.
32. What does Jill probably agree with?
A. AI will be able to think creatively soon.
B. People should stop using AI in the future.
C. Life was more interesting without AI in the past.
D. Humans’ own abilities are their most important tool.
【答案】29. C 30. B 31. B 32. D

根据最后一段“thinking for yourself, being creative, and caring for others are things only humans can do... The more you use your own brain and heart, the safer you will be in a world full of AI.”描述为自己思考、创造和关爱他人是只有人类才能做的事你越多地使用自己的大脑和心灵,你就越安全。由此推断作者认为人类自身的能力是最重要的保障。
C
In January 2024, a very unusual little visitor was found on the airport runway in New Zealand. It made all the planes stop for a while. But the pilot and passengers waited patiently without getting angry. Why? Because it was a little blue penguin! Maybe it dreamed of flying — no one knows for sure. The cute bird was taken away safely, but people there remembered it for a long time.
Another funny thing happened in 2019. Two little blue penguins made a nest under a food stand in Wellington, New Zealand. People had to move them to a safer place. However, by nightfall, the two penguins crossed several busy roads and came back “home”. It’s a natural characteristic of the penguins — they will always return to where they nest.
The little blue penguin is the smallest kind of penguin in the world. It stands at just 25cm, weighs a little over 1kg and lives to about 8-10 years old. These penguins live by the sea in Australia and New Zealand. Their blue feathers help them hide in the water so other animals cannot see them easily. They are very good at swimming and can go deep to catch fish. They sometimes look for food alone and sometimes in groups. They like to live in holes in the ground or under houses. They usually come out at night.
Now, these little penguins are in danger. The sea is getting dirty and they are losing their homes. Also, animals like cats and dogs can hurt them. So, people are working to protect them and their nests. We hope these wonderful birds can still be around in the future.
......

35. In Paragraph 3, which of the following things about the little blue penguin are mentioned?
a. its ability b. its living place c. its size d. its population e. its habit
A. ace B. bed C. abce D. acde
36. What will the passage probably talk about next?
A. Why the little penguins are in danger.
B. How the little penguins survive at last.
C. Who and what do harm to the little penguins.
D. What actions are taken to protect the little penguins.

Your phone rings. You answer, and a polite woman on the line says she’s calling from your bank. She explains that there is a problem with your account. However, if you provide some personal details — your address, date of birth, and password (密码) — she can help work it out. Be careful: if you give her the information, you will be in danger. That’s because it’s probably a scam.
This type of online scam that uses calls to trick people into giving private information. Think of it as a fisher who uses a worm to fish. These “fishers” want one thing: your money. They use many tricks to make their calls look real. They may use technology to change their voice or use their caller’s false ID. But usually, they make use of your feelings, such as what you fear or want. In this way, they get you to give them the things they want.
These scams work well because they force people into making decisions at once. For example, a scammer might call an elderly woman and claim (声称) to be her grandson. He is in trouble and needs money right away. Or they might want you to put in money in a “promising business” to make more money, but you have to act now.
The first step in protecting yourself from scams is to be careful when someone calls you to ask for money or personal information. If you have any doubt, say you’ll call back and hang up. Then, if the call is from a family member, call them at a number you know is real. If it is from a bank, look up their number online and call it to check whether the situation is real.
Even if the caller makes it seem like an emergency, always take a moment to check. It could save you from making an expensive mistake. Remember, these scammers are smart and can make you believe them easily. Don’t be the fish that takes the worm!
37. What does the underlined word “scam” in Paragraph 1 probably refer to?
A. A friendly service from the bank.
B. A real problem with your account.
C. A clever plan to make you richer.
D. A special trick to steal your information.
38. Why do these scams often succeed?
A. Because the scammers contact people by email.
B. Because the scammers only trick older rich people.
C. Because the scammers force people to decide in a hurry.
D. Because the scammers promise to give more money back.
39. What is the main idea of Paragraph 4?
A. Banks’ actions to stop scams.
B. Tips for staying safe from scams.
C. Methods to search for scam information online.
D. Ways to check if a call is from a family member.
40. What is the writer’s main purpose of writing this passage?
A. To tell a funny story about a phone call.
B. To explain what a scam is and how to avoid it.
C. To describe the technology used in the scams.
D. To show why older people are easily tricked by scams.

Have you ever seen a zebra walking while it waves at you on the streets? In La Paz, Bolivia (玻利维亚), people dress up as zebras to help keep the roads safe. These friendly zebras are called cebritas, which means “little zebras” in the local language.
About 25 years ago, the streets of La Paz were dangerous. There were too many cars, too much noise, and nobody followed traffic rules. People would run across roads while drivers ran through traffic lights. Something had to change. Instead of hiring more police or writing more tickets, the city government brought in people in zebra suits.
Why zebras? Their appearances match the lines on crossings. These zebras don’t shout at people. They help people with kindness and humor. They dance, give high fives, and use humor to show people where to cross and remind drivers to slow down.
Many cebritas are young people who need jobs. By working as cebritas, they can make money and learn important skills. The city provides job training, educational support, and even health care. Some cebritas say the program changed their lives by giving them confidence and purpose.
This clever program started in 2001 and has worked so well that it now runs in several cities. It began with just 24 cebritas and has grown to include about 300 helpers in different cities. Their good work has won international awards, and they have become famous enough to appear on TV shows and stamps!
The secret to the success is simple: people prefer kindness to shouting. When drivers see the kind cebritas, they want to do the right thing. The program proves that creative ways to solve problems can make a big difference.

35. In Paragraph 3, which of the following things about the little blue penguin are mentioned?

B)阅读短文,从短文后所给的A~F六个选项中选出五个能填入空白处的最佳选项。
