Almost everyone has experienced the feeling of discomfort (不适) when their actions do not agree with their inner values. A boy, for example, loves his parents deeply but gets angry at them when stressed out;or a woman who hopes to live healthily but gives in to fast food during moments of weakness.
This disagreement can lead to serious results, such as terrible relationships and self-doubt. The influence of feeling out of control and unable to meet our own standards can also be harmful. The shame and upset that go along with these feelings often force us into silence. One reason might be that admitting (承认) to these behaviors can feel like showing a weakness or mistake to the whole world. What's more, recognizing this disagreement requires facing uncomfortable truths about ourselves, which is challenging and painful.
Recognizing these behaviors can provide a possibility of change. By looking into the causes of our behaviors, we can understand our actions more easily. It's suggested that recognizing this disagreement, together with mindfulness and open communication, can help. These methods help us slow down, reflect (反思) , and choose behaviors carefully.
The key to dealing with this disagreement lies in compassion (同情) for ourselves and others. Admitting that this disagreement is a shared part of the human experience can enable us to speak openly, find support, and take necessary steps toward the agreement between our inner world and our actions.
While the disagreement between our inner values and actions may be common, through reflection, understanding and purposeful practice, we can reach the agreement (一致) and set out on a journey of self-discovery.
This article discusses the disagreement (不一致) between our inner values and actions. First, the writer describes this experience by 1 Then, the writer mentions what result this disagreement can cause and 2 when we face the shame and upset.
Luckily, we can change. Recognizing this disagreement, mindfulness and open communication are some 3 to deal with this disagreement. And the key lies in compassion for ourselves and others. Admitting that this disagreement is common so that 4 , find support, and reach the agreement.

Passage 44

How green are you? Answer these questions and find out.
•Do you turn off the lights when you leave the room?
•Do you buy new clothes just because they are modern?
•Do you take your own bag when shopping and not ask for a plastic bag?
•Do you buy drinks in the bottles? And what do you do with bottles when they are empty?
We all need a healthy environment, but we produce much waste every day. It's harmful to our earth. To deal with it, let's follow the 3Rs: reduce, reuse and recycle.
Reduce
Reduce means “use less”. Do not waste things you've already owned. You'd better eat up all the food you order and turn off the lights when you do not need them. What's more, avoid buying unnecessary things when shopping.
Reuse
Reuse means "use again”. Use things for as long as possible. Also, when we go shopping, it's better to choose cloth bags instead of the plastic ones. These kinds of materials are environmentally-friendly.
Recycle
To recycle, we need to change. Although it takes energy to change, it is better than throwing things away or burning them. We throw tons of rubbish away each year, and it's terrible. Instead, we should collect the waste. Divide it into plastic, glass, paper and rubber. Then, the machines break it down. Finally, the waste becomes something else that can be used again. To help recycle, we can develop a recycling policy (政策) for the whole community, and buy products such as recycled paper to help save trees.
We cannot hope for a rapid change, but let's take these simple steps today so that we will save the world for our grandsons and granddaughters tomorrow.

Passage 45
阅读文章,用恰当的短语或句子补全概要。补全部分总词数不超过30词,不能照抄原文 连续超过3个词。
Typhoon Ragasa (台风桦加沙) is the 18th typhoon of the year. It has already caused serious damage in the Philippines before moving to China. In China, it made landfall in Yangjiang city in Guangdong province on September 24th, with strong winds and heavy rain. Millions of people in Guangdong have been moved to safer places.
Although the typhoon's main path is in southern China, its outer bands have also brought rain to parts of Zhejiang province. Schools and factories in affected areas have been closed, and some train services have stopped.
A typhoon is a strong tropical cyclone (热带气旋) that forms over warm ocean waters and needs several things to develop.
Warm Ocean Water
The water needs to be warm, at least 26°C. The warm water evaporates ( 蒸 发 ) and rises into the air.
Low-Pressure Center
The rising warm, wet air creates an area of low pressure near the ocean's surface. Cooler air from around this area then rushes in to take its place, creating wind.
Spinning Motion
(旋转运动)
Because the Earth spins, the incoming air starts to rotate (旋转) , making the system spin.
Getting Stronger
As more warm, moist air rises, it releases energy, making the storm stronger. If the winds keep getting faster and reach a speed of at least 32. 7meters per second, it becomes a typhoon. When a typhoon moves over land, it loses its source of warm water and slowly becomes weaker wind
For our safety, we have different warning signals. When a blue signal goes up, it means average winds may reach Level 6, or gusts may reach Level 8 in the next 24 hours. If it changes to yellow, average winds could strengthen to Level 8 or higher. An orange signal warns that very strong winds, possibly Level 10, will come in 12 hours. The red signal is the most dangerous which tells us extremely strong winds, over Level 12, will arrive in just 6 hours.
The writer uses Typhoon Ragasa to show 1 such as closed schools, and suspended trains. Then he tells what a typhoon is and 2 . First, the warm ocean water evaporates into the sky. Then, 3 by the low-pressure center. Next, there's the spinning motion of the earth. Last, the storm gets stronger, reaching a high speed. People create different warning signals in different colors 4 . Red shows the most dangerous situation.

What Makes Us Feel Happy?
Have you ever wondered why you suddenly feel cheerful after winning a match or meeting close friends? Behind that sense of joy are several "happy chemicals" in your brain. Among them, dopamine (多巴胺) and endorphins (内啡肽) play the most important roles.
To begin with, dopamine is produced in the reward (奖励) center of the brain. It appears when you expect or receive something pleasant. For example, imagine eating delicious food or hearing good news—that sense of excitement is dopamine at work. Endorphins, on the other hand, are produced somewhere in the brain where movement and pain are controlled. When you move your body, such as running, playing basketball, or even working hard, your brain naturally produces endorphins.
Besides, dopamine and endorphins work for different purposes in our daily lives. Dopamine tells your brain, “Push yourself forward! Success feels great!” It gives you excitement to keep going. Endorphins, however, play a gentler role. They tell your brain, “Reduce your pain. Forget about the outside world!” They give you a feeling of relaxation and peace.
Moreover, while dopamine feels like quick fireworks, endorphins are more like a warm sunrise that slowly brightens your day. The excitement of buying a new phone or receiving a high score soon disappears. However, endorphins provide a long-lasting sense of comfort. A morning exercise, a deep laugh, or a warm conversation can keep you in a positive mood for hours.
In conclusion, true happiness comes from balance. Try doing things that make both dopamine and endorphins work:set goals, move your body, laugh more, and spend time with people you care about. In this way, your brain will thank you, and you'll certainly feel happy both inside and out.
Both dopamine and endorphins can make us happy. However, 1 . First, they come from 2 . Second, dopamine pushes us forward to make us excited while 3 . Third, the effect of dopamine lasts for 4 than that of endorphins. Finally, the writer suggests doing what makes both work.

Our skin is like a coat that protects us. It has three layers (层) and each layer helps keep us safe and healthy. If our skin gets burned, it can hurt a lot and even become serious. So everyone should learn about burns and how to help.
Many things can burn you, not only hot water. A big fire, the hot summer sun, steam (水蒸气) from your shower, or strong chemicals can all hurt your skin. Watch out and stay away from them.
Burns are divided into three groups by doctors. The first-degree burns are the lightest. Only the top layer of skin turns red and hurts, but you will feel better in a day or two days. The second-degree burns go deeper and affect both the first and the second layer. They hurt more and take longer to heal (愈合) . The third-degree burns are the worst. All three layers of skin can be harmed and they always bring serious problems.
If you get burned, first of all, take off clothes carefully. Then, cool burns quickly under running water until you feel better. Next, dry the burned place gently and cover it with a dry and clean bandage. You should take medicine if necessary.
Though helpful, it's even more important to know something you mustn't do. For one thing, you can't use oil, eggs or ice on the burns. For another, don't pop blisters (水泡) with sharp things like knives or needles. If you do these things by accident, it may take a longer time for the burns to heal and even the burns will heal up with scars.
Burns can happen in seconds. Stay safe, stay smart, and let healthy skin protect you every day!

In China, short dramas are getting more popular these days. A short drama usually lasts only a few minutes per episode (集) . People of different ages fall in love with them.
To begin with, people now live a busy life with only small pieces of free time, like when they are on the bus or before sleeping. Short dramas fit this kind of "fragmented (碎片化的) time"well. People can finish one episode easily in their free moments.
Additionally, short dramas tell simple but exciting stories. Many of them have plots (情节) like “becoming better and beating others”. These stories help people feel relaxed and let out their stress from daily life. The fast-paced stories also bring strong feelings to viewers.
Moreover, short dramas have many different topics, such as love, city life and growth. Some stories are close to people's real life, making it easy for viewers to feel connected with the characters.
Last, making and spreading short dramas is not hard. They take a short time to make, usually one to two weeks. And they spread quickly on social media platforms like TikTok. Big video platforms, such as Tencent Video, also support short dramas a lot.
However, short dramas also have some bad sides. Some of them have simple or even illogical (不符合逻辑的) plots just to attract viewers. Also, if people spend too much time watching them, they may waste time that should be used for studying or resting. Sometimes, the fast-paced stories make people less patient with long books or movies.
In short, short dramas are good for killing fragmented time, but they have problems too. We should not let them take our study or rest time. Only by viewing them in a proper and wise way can we enjoy their fun without bad influences.
