Ellie McBee, 13, South Carolina Do you know Quick Draw? In this fun game, the AI tries to guess my funny drawings — even bad ones! I learned that AI “sees” things differently from us. It just finds rules in lots of data (数据). So Al is a cool tool for fun and learning, not magic.
Tom Lee, 13, Canada I tried to design my own game on Roblox. I used AI to make smart NPCs, and they could make choices by themselves. It was so cool! My friends and I played it for hours every day. I started to wonder: is it just a game?
Maren Altrup, 14, Missouri Last week, I used an AI tool “Suno” to make music for a poem. I chose the topic “bright night sky” and picked soft piano music. The AI soon made a short and slow piece of music. I felt surprised and amazed that I could make music so easily.

Do you know “the engineers in nature”? They are Beavers! These clever animals build dams to give homes for some animals and help clean water. However, they have to be moved to new homes recently.
In places like Utah, beavers often cause problems. They gnaw (啃) down trees for food. Their dams can cause floods, break riverbanks and hurt farmers’ crops. In the past, landowners caught or even killed them. But today, there is a better and cheaper way. Scientists from the Beaver Collaborative at Utah State University help move beavers to turn these animals from “enemies” into “helpers”.
The scientists take beavers from “problem areas” and bring them to places that really need help. The whole program takes time and careful planning. Next, landowners and scientists work together to catch the beavers with great care. After that, the beavers stay in a safe place for about 72 hours. Then, scientists need to make sure the beavers are healthy enough to put in ID chips (芯片). These chips help researchers learn how the beavers live in the wild. The data shows that beavers live in groups, so scientists try to move whole families together. This helps the beavers feel safer and fit in better in their new homes.
In these new homes, beavers can show their talent in making the environment better. When beavers build dams there, they boost water quality and increase plant life. Over time, a dry land can become a green place with more animals and plants. During the time, scientists monitor (监视) the program to see how the land is changing and whether the beavers are fitting in well. They hope these actions make life better for the beavers, the humans, and all the other living things they influence. It is a natural and low-cost way to create a healthy ecosystem.
12. How does the writer lead in the topic?
A. By telling a story. B. By asking a question. C. By listing numbers. D. By giving an example.
13. In which order do the scientists move the beavers in Utah?
①Catch them. ②Put in ID chips. ③Keep them for 72 hours. ④Move them to new homes.
A. ④①③② B. ①③②④ C. ①②③④ D. ④①②③
14. What does the underlined word “boost” in Paragraph 4 probably mean?
A. Harm. B. Check. C. Manage. D. Improve.
15. What is the best title for the text?
A. Beavers: Builders in Farms B. Beavers: Animals in Danger
C. Beavers: From Enemies to Helpers D. Beavers: From Makers to Breakers
