My Views on the Use of AI Assistants in Learning
Nowadays, more students use AI assistants to finish homework. In my opinion, AI can help us understand difficult points and save time, but over-reliance does harm to our thinking ability.
To use it properly, we should first try to solve problems independently. We can turn to AI for explanations instead of copying answers. Besides, we should use it as a tool to improve learning, not a shortcut to avoid thinking.

When the day of the party finally came, Sophie and Jake were both nervous but excited. The house was decorated beautifully with colorful balloons and lights. The homemade cupcakes Sophie made looked lovely, and the photo board Jake designed was so funny that it made everyone laugh. When Grandma saw everything, she was moved to tears and hugged them tightly, saying it was the warmest and happiest birthday she had ever had. All the family admired their great teamwork and enjoyed the party very much.
That night, after everyone left, Sophie and Jake sat together in the quiet living room. They talked happily about the party and shared their true feelings. Sophie said sorry to Jake for being too strict before, and Jake promised to be more responsible and less naughty. They finally understood that love and cooperation were more important than endless arguments. From that day on, they got along much better and became the best brother and sister.

Last spring,my neighbor Donna and I,both in our seventies, spent several hours in the
glorious sunshine enjoying the new season. When it was time to sit down and relax,Donna
pulled out her red metal chair from her garage ()and I sat on an overturned plastic bucket
()It was fun to catch up on the news that we had missed during the long winter indoors.
However, over the next few days,it turned out that we needed more than a chair and a
bucket which were not quite comfortable.Donna decided we needed a bench. After dismissing
unsuitable options from local stores, she found a perfect one online. The next day it arrived.
Excitedly, she opened the box and started putting it together. We proudly high-fived each other
as the pieces joined up and the bench started to look like one. After a few minutes'assistance
from a neighbour,it was complete. What's more,it was the perfect fit for two 70-somethings to
carry on late afternoon chats.
Soon, the bench attracted other neighbors. One day, someone called out from the sidewalk,
"What do you do on that bench?"Quick-thinking Donna called back,"It's our'Thinking Bench'!
We think about important things happening in our lives."Then, the name gradually evolved-
after one neighbor sat alone deep in thought,he declared it a"Decision-Making Bench";another
time, when Donna was caught napping, she insisted she was"meditating(冥想)”,adding yet
another name.
Last fall, with the temperature falling,we came to the end of sitting outdoors. We were
faced with one problem-what to do about it in the winter?Well,we sat down and thought and
meditated and decided to put it in Donna's garage for the winter.
When I glimpsed it a few times over the next months, the bench sat lonely, holding empty
flower pots, and some flat, old boxes. But now after a long winter, spring flowers are ready to
bloom in the warm sunshine, and we neighbours are ready to welcome "The Bench"back into
our lives.
24.Why did Donna decide to replace the chair and bucket?
A.To lighten the carrying load.
B.To attract more neighbours.
C.To get better seating for chats.
D.To adapt to warmer weather.
25.How did the bench get its various names?
A.From items placed on it.
B.From seasonal discussions.
C.From users'activities on it.
D.From Donna's creative ideas.
26.Why are pots and boxes mentioned in the last paragraph?
A.To suggest the flowers would soon be planted.
B.To show the bench was not serving its purpose.
C.To describe the bench's practical use in winter.
D.To explain why the bench needed winter storage.
27.Which of the following is probably the best title of the passage?
A.Having fun with neighbors.
B.Bonding through a bench
C.Cherishing the time together.
D.Varying activities in the season.

With millions of riders on the road,China's food delivery industry has long prided itself on
being able to reach every corner of the country. Now,Meituan is even offering to deliver takeout
to the Great Wall一dropped off not by a worker on an electric bike, but by a drone(无人机)
sliding from the sky.
For the millions of tourists who visit the Great Wall each year, the drone delivery service
offers a new level of convenience.Visitors can now order meals and drinks via their
smartphones, with drones delivering their orders to their locations on the wall, which eliminates
the need for tourists to leave their spots, allowing them to fully engage in the experience of
visiting the Great Wall without interruptions.
The Great Wall drone route extends from a nearby hotel rooftop to a watchtower on the
southern part of Badaling,an area previously free of commercial facilities."That's
where drones can help,"YanYan,public affairs director of Meituan's drone business, told CCTV.
"Through drones,we can make trips that take 50 minutes on foot in five minutes and deliver
heat relief objects and emergency supplies to visitors."
Once an order is received,a Meituan worker will pick it up from a nearby store and bring it
to the hotel rooftop, where it will be weighed and packaged. An operator then ties the package to
the drone, which will fly on autopilot to the watchtower, where another worker waits to receive
it and hands it over to the customer.
The company will initially offer free delivery while it tests the service, and claims that
pricing will stay similar to that of regular deliveries afterward.
Meituan's drone delivery at the Great Wall is another example of how drone technology can
be used for the last mile. The program could serve as a model for similar services in other
tourist-heavy or geographically challenging locations worldwide and have a promising future.
28.What does the underlined word "eliminates"in paragraph 2 mean?
A.Ignores.
B.Identifies.
C.removes.
D.Satisfies
29.How does Yan Yan sound about the drone delivery?
A.Critical.
B.Doubtful.
C.Unconcerned.
D.Approving.
30.What does paragraph 4 mainly tell us?
A.How the packages are attached to the drones.
B.How the drone delivery service is carried out.
C.How operators control the routes of the drones.
D.How customers'order information is received.
31.What are the main features of Meituan's drone delivery service at the Great Wall?
A.Convenient and innovative.
B.Costly but dependable.
C.Dangerous and time-consuming.
D.Traditional but high-cost.

At the start of every new year, many of us think about how to make our lives better.
Perhaps we want to lose weight or stay off our cell phones. If only we had more willpower, the
第5页共10页
thinking goes,we could meet our goals. But a new study suggests that we could have that
backwards.
In the study, two groups of participants filled out surveys measuring their level of
self-control and happiness over time to see if their self-control at one point led to greater
wel-being later on,and vice versa(反之亦然).People in both groups reported on how well they
employed strategies like inhibition (e.g.,the ability to resist temptations),initiation (e.g.,not
wasting time before getting to a project),and continuation(e.g.,being consistent in their actions)
to have better self-control.For well-being measures, researchers asked participants how much
they agreed with statements like,"I am happy","I appreciate my own self-worth",and "I am
appreciative of life",or asked them to report on things like how optimistic, energetic, and happy
they were.
When looking within individuals over time, the researchers found that a person with
greater self-control at one point in time did not report having greater well-being at later points in
time. However, people who had greater well-being at one point in time did experience greater
self-control later on.
What is the science behind this?Lile Jia,an author of the study, points to Barbara
Fredrickson's "broaden-and-build"theory of positive emotions, which suggests that having
positive feelings increases our psychological resources. This means that when feeling good,we
can be more creative and open to new experiences, helping us manage difficulties better-
including the "work"of stopping ourselves from walking away from our goals.
"When you find yourself struggling to stick to your goals,I would encourage you to resist
the urge to label yourself as undisciplined or unworthy.Instead, consider it a signal to check in
on your own state of being,"says Jia."Feeling good is not just the destination. It is a critical part
of the journey.”
32.What were the participants asked to do in the study?
A.Recall memorable experiences.
B.Report their own state of being.
C.Put forward practical strategies.
D.Show gratitude to group members.
33.Why is Barbara Fredrickson's theory mentioned in paragraph 4?
A.To explain why feeling good boosts self-control.
B.To tell the function of psychological resources.
C.To compare factors contributing to fulfilling goals.
D.To prove that self-control leads to ultimate happiness.
34.What does Jia try to do in the last paragraph?
A.Remind us to set realistic goals.
B.Urge us to push ourselves harder.
C.Suggest paying attention to our well-being.D.highlight external encouragement.
35.What is the main idea of the text?
A.Greater well-being comes from better self-control.
B.It's necessary to set goals at the start of every new year.
C.The level of self-control and happiness changes over time.
D.We need well-being more than willpower to reach our goals.

Sophie, fifteen, had always thought of herself as the responsible one in the family. Her
thirteen-year-old brother Jake,on the other hand, seemed to live in a world of half-finished
homework, lost socks, and endless video games. They argued almost every day-about who
should walk the dog,who got to use the computer, and even who should finish the last cookie.
Sometimes the arguments were loud enough that the neighbors joked they could hear them
through the open windows.
Their parents rarely stepped in unless things got too serious."You two need to figure it out
yourselves,"their dad often told them.Sophie found that rule deeply unfair;Jake just ignored it
and returned to whatever he was doing. But one Saturday, their parents gave them a task they
couldn't avoid:planning Grandma's birthday party,which was only a week away.
At first,it was a disaster.Sophie wanted everything to be perfect-matching tablecloths,
homemade cupcakes, soft music. She even made a checklist to keep things "organized".Jake
rolled his eyes."She just wants to see us,not a fancy restaurant!"he said. They argued for hours
until their mom quietly reminded them,"Your grandmother would rather see you working
together than fighting."
Something about that stuck with Sophie. The next morning, she knocked on Jake's door and
said,"Let's divide the jobs.I'll handle the food, and you take care of decorations."Jake
hesitated, and then nodded, surprised by her calmer tone.Slowly, the tension began to ease.
When they started working,Sophie noticed Jake had good ideas-he designed a funny
photo board with old pictures of Grandma, and it made everyone laugh. She realized she hadn't
given him enough credit before.Jake,in turn, noticed how hard Sophie tried to make things right
and stopped teasing (her. Both of them began to feel that maybe, for once, they could
