B Christine Rowsey spent three tough years working full-time as a financial risk analyst to support her 5-year-old son Bryson, while taking evening courses at a community college to pursue her nursing dream. “I didn’t have any money or possessions left; all I had was a fragile dream,” she recalled with emotion. That dream took root three years earlier, when she suffered the tragic loss of her husband, who had been diagnosed with cancer. Her husband fought for his life in the intensive care unit for seven months, undergoing more than a dozen operations. However, in the end, he left Christine forever. It was the sincere and constant support from the hospital’s nursing staff during that painful experience that inspired her to quit her original job and determinedly pursue a nursing career to help others the way she had been helped. Just as she was about to start formal nursing courses, her misfortunes brought her progress to a halt — her car was repossessed (收回). She couldn’t travel to class. Luckily, she discovered Volunteers of America (VOA) Michigan’s “Cars Helping People” program in Pontiac, which provided donated vehicles at fair prices for people in need, and she worked out a reasonable payment plan. She then enrolled in Oakland University’s one-year licensed practical nursing program, but she struggled with heavy tuition fees and the double pressure of studying hard as a top student and taking good care of Bryson. Another program run by VOA, the Health Profession Opportunity Grants, came to her rescue. It not only covered her full tuition but also offered an allowance for Bryson’s daily needs like food and gas, and even paid for her certification test fees. With the guidance from VOA’s employment specialist Rene DeLoach, who supported her through coursework, license application and job hunting, Christine finally achieved her goal. Now working as a licensed practical nurse at Riverview Health in Detroit, she is already pursuing her Registered Nurse certificate and sharing her inspiring story with young people. “VOA helped me rewrite my life exactly the way I wanted,” she said gratefully. 4. Why did Christine decide to work as a nurse? A. To care for her son. B. To inspire patients. C. To repay the kindness. D. To earn stable income. 5. What did VOA mean to Christine? A. A life changer. B. A famous charity. C. A training institution. D. A belief in her heart. 6. Which of the following can best describe Christine? A. Determined. B. Brilliant. C. Creative. D. Confident. 7. What does Christine’s story show? A. He who laughs last laughs longest. B. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. C. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. D. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. C For many people, the“10, 000 daily steps” fitness goal may seem out of reach. But new research shows protecting your brain doesn’t require such high pressure — logging 3,000 steps is enough to strengthen your cognitive (认知的) health. A study published in Nature Medicine found that walking at least 3,000 steps a day significantly slows the buildup of Alzheimer’s-related proteins and boosts the brain’s resistance against cognitive decline. This research tracked 296 healthy adults aged 50 to 90, recording their daily steps and monitoring their cognitive performance for up to 14 years. Clear patterns emerged: Adults who walked fewer than 3,000 steps daily had faster tau tangle (蛋白缠结) formation and more rapid declines in memory and thinking skills. Those walking 3,001 — 5,000 steps a day delayed cognitive decline by an average of 3 years, while those walking 5,001 — 7,000 steps saw even greater benefits — slowing age-related cognitive decline by about 7 years. Most people have heard of amyloid plaques, the sticky substance that form outside neurons (神经元) in Alzheimer’s disease. But tau, a protein normally found inside healthy neurons, is what disturbs cognition when it forms tangles. These tangles clog neurons’ internal transport system, slowing communication and quickening brain cell death. Exercise may not directly lower amyloid plaque buildup outside neurons, but the data suggests it interrupts the downstream effects of amyloid on tau. This is the key insight: Amyloid appears to set the stage for Alzheimer’s, but tau tangles are what cause the signs of the disease to unfold. Physical activities seem to break this chain and slow tau’s tangle formation. These findings add to a growing body of evidence linking regular physical activity to better brain health and delayed cognitive aging and prove that meaningful brain benefits begin at far lower step counts. “Every step counts,” first author Wai-Ying Wendy Yau said. “We want to empower people to protect their brain and cognitive health by keeping physically active.” 8. How were the research results presented? A. By referring to the former outcomes. B. By comparing recorded data. C. By assessing subjects’ cognitive change. D. By showing specific case analyses. 9. What does the underlined word “clog” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Regulate. B. Transform. C. Block. D. Activate. 10. What happens when physical activities are performed? A. Tau tangle formation is slowed. B. Tau tangle chains begin to break. C. Amyloid plaque buildup speeds up. D. Amyloid plaque intensifies impacts on tau. 11. What is the last paragraph mainly about? A. The limitations of the study. B. The significance of the findings. C. The future commercial prospects. D. The discovery of the experiment. D The cartoon interviewer greets you on-screen. He looks a little young to be asking questions about a job — sort of a cartoon version of Harry Potter, with dark hair and glasses. You can choose other interviewers to speak with instead, representing different genders and races with name s like Benjamin, Leslie, and Kristin. Alex, the name given to this AI interviewer, asks about your professional experience, theoretical questions about programming, and then gives out a coding exercise. Alex was developed by microl, a US company that describes itself as an AI recruitment (招聘) engine for engineers. The company’s founder, Ali Ansari, claims that this tool allows companies to “screen candidates in a much more efficient and accurate manner.” Microl splits its model into two formats: Companies can employ the software to interview candidates for specific roles, and rather than picking through a sample size of thousands of applicants, they can screen endless masses of candidates with the AI interviewer. Or candidates can go through the process independently to be added to a marketplace of engineers. More than 100,000 people have gone through microl’s screenings with hopes of being added to its marketplace of engineers, and the company lists a number of tech companies, with Do Not Pay among those having used its system to screen or hire engineers from its marketplace. Zahira Jaser, an associate professor at the University of Sussex Business School, says a lot remains unknown about the impact of AI and its interviewing — including how the tech affects candidates. “In the real world, humans are biased (有偏见的). But there are techniques we can use to overcome this human bias,” Jaser says. “In an algorithm-driven bias, this is likely to be very systematic.” For example, some AI hiring tools are trained on profiles of past successful employees, raising concerns that they will repeat past biased hiring practices. Nowadays, the ultimate decision regarding who secures employment does not rest merely in the hands of these AI tools. However, they are gradually influencing which candidates are granted the opportunity to engage in direct interaction with human interviewers. This shift has the potential to trigger far-reaching, transformative changes in the composition and nature of the workforce as we look ahead. 12. What is the main function of Alex? A. To train candidates for job interviews. B. To improve employees’ work efficiency. C. To assist companies in screening candidates. D. To help candidates improve their programming skills. 13. What is Jaser’s concern about AI interviewing? A. AI prefers candidates with previous experience. B. There will be a lack of human-like interaction in the process. C. AI tends to judge candidates based on the given information. D. Applying AI-interviewing systems will bring along financial challenges. 14. What is the present significance of AI tools in the hiring process? A. They have a greater say than human interviewers. B. They play a role in the initial candidate-selection stage. C. They remove the human bias during the interview. D. They make a perfect match between candidates and companies. 15. What can be the best title for the text? A. Interviewees React Differently to AI-Interviewing Tools. B. Microl Has Brought New Hope for Potential Engineers. C. AI Interviewers Pose Great Threat to Human-Driven Recruitment. D. AI Interviewers Are Transforming the Engineering Recruitment Landscape. What I learned watching dentist at work I would like to be a dentist in the future. ___16___ The patient, tender dentist comforted me, a 7-year-old girl at the time, and persuaded me to stop crying and to accept my treatment. ___17___ Recently, our teacher gave us the homework of experiencing a kind of job on the weekend. A dog? I couldn’t even look after myself. I took a deep breath and carefully considered the idea of welcoming a canine (犬科的) friend into my life. This seemed like too easy a solution to the fact that I couldn't leave the house without bursting into tears. Adopting an animal during the height of the pandemic was far from easy. When I found Simba, his adoption profile made him out as the perfect puppy. I filed out the paperwork and had a few weeks to prepare for his arrival. When he came home, it became increasingly obvious that Simba didn’t understand “no”, “stop it’ or “don’t do that”. He was the worst-behaved dog I’d ever seen. I was beginning to doubt my therapist’s advice. At home, I found him sitting on my bed comfortably. Jumping from the sofa to the tea table was his favorite game every day. He fought tooth and nail to get a bite of my meals and ate anything that fell on the floor. What was worse, dog waste and urine were seen everywhere, which annoyed me most. But his curiosity and vigor really impressed me. Training him to behave well kept me busier than I’d ever expected. I decided to start taking him for walks. I could barely leave the house before, but my heart couldn’t say no to Simba. Simba showed me what bravery looked like. He didn’t stop to consider every possible outcome of a situation. He simply went for it. If there was a dog at a park,he would run toward it. He always leapt forward and explored the unknown by sniffing here and there unless I called him. He loved adventure. I found myself mirroring his behavior after a while, jumping out of bed without a second thought. I began to find the motivation to get out of bed in the morning. 注意: 1. 所续写短文的词数应为150左右; 2. 至少使用5个短文中标有下划线的关键词语; 3. 续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好; 4. 续写完成后,请用下划线标出你所使用的关键词语。 Paragraph 1: Ten minutes later, Simba and I were walking in the nearby park. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: As time went by, I found myself totally changed. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 石家庄市第一中学2026届高考第三次模拟考试 英语试卷 注意事项: 1.答卷前,考生务必将自己的姓名、考生号填写在本试卷和答题卡的相应位置上。 2.回答选择题时,选出每小题答案后,用铅笔把答题卡上对应题目的答案标号涂黑。如需改动,用橡皮擦干净后,再选涂其他答案标号。写在本试卷上无效。 3.回答非选择题时,将答案写在答题卡上。写在本试卷上无效。 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 1.What is the date for the school play? 【答案】4. C 5. A 6. A 7. D 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了Christine Rowsey在丈夫去世后,决定成为一名护士来回报社会,在面对重重困难时,得到了美国志愿者协会(VOA)相关项目的帮助,最终实现了自己的目标。 【4题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中“It was the sincere and constant support from the hospital’s nursing staff during that painful experience that inspired her to quit her original job and determinedly pursue a nursing career to help others the way she had been helped.(正是在那段痛苦的经历中,医院护理人员真诚而持续的支持,激励她辞去了原来的工作,坚定地追求护理事业,以她曾经被帮助的方式去帮助别人)”可知,Christine决定成为一名护士是为了报答曾经得到的善意和帮助。故选C项。 【5题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中Christine的话“VOA helped me rewrite my life exactly the way I wanted(VOA帮助我按照我想要的方式改写了我的人生)”以及前文提到的VOA对Christine在车辆、学费、生活费等方面的帮助可知,VOA对Christine来说意味着人生的改变者。故选A项。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。文章在第一段中讲述Christine白天全职工作,晚上上课,坚持了三年;在第二段中讲述她丈夫去世后独自抚养儿子,并决心转行成为护士;在第三、四段中讲述在汽车被收回、面临重重经济压力时,她积极寻找资源,并最终在VOA帮助下克服困难,最终成功获得护士执照并找到工作(第五段)。整个故事展现了她在逆境中坚持不懈、意志坚定的品质。故选A项。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。通读全文,结合最后一段中Christine的话“VOA helped me rewrite my life exactly the way I wanted(VOA帮助我按照我想要的方式改写了我的人生)”可知,文章讲述了Christine在面对失去丈夫、车辆被收回、学费高昂等重重困难时,没有放弃,而是努力追求自己的梦想,最终改写了人生,实现了目标。Christine的故事正好印证了谚语“When the going gets tough, the tough get going. (艰难之路,唯勇者行)”所表达的在困难面前,强者会迎难而上、更加努力奋斗的精神。故选D项。 C For many people, the“10, 000 daily steps” fitness goal may seem out of reach. 【答案】8. B 9. C 10. A 11. B 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要讲述了步数与认知健康的关联。研究表明,50—90岁人群每日步行3000步即可减缓阿尔茨海默病相关 tau蛋白缠结,延缓认知衰退;3001—5000步延迟3年;5001—7000步延迟7年。运动可阻断淀粉样蛋白对tau的影响,护脑无需“每日万步,每步皆有意义”。 【8题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段“This research tracked 296 healthy adults aged 50 to 90, recording their daily steps and monitoring their cognitive performance for up to 14 years. (这项研究对296名年龄在50岁至90岁之间的健康成年人进行了跟踪调查,记录了他们的每日步数,并对他们的认知能力进行了长达14年的监测。)”以及第三段“Clear patterns emerged: Adults who walked fewer than 3,000 steps daily had faster tau tangle (蛋白缠结) formation and more rapid declines in memory and thinking skills. Those walking 3,001 — 5,000 steps a day delayed cognitive decline by an average of 3 years, while those walking 5,001 — 7,000 steps saw even greater benefits — slowing age-related cognitive decline by about 7 years. (清晰的规律逐渐显现出来:每天步行少于3000步的成年人,其tau蛋白缠结的形成速度更快,记忆力和思维能力的衰退也更为迅速。而每天步行3001至5000步的人,其认知能力衰退的平均时间延迟了3年;而每天步行5001至7000步的人,其效果更为显著——年龄相关的认知能力衰退速度减缓了约7年。)”可知,研究结果是通过比较记录的数据呈现的。故选B。 【9题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第四段“But tau, a protein normally found inside healthy neurons, is what disturbs cognition when it forms tangles. These tangles clog neurons’ internal transport system, slowing communication and quickening brain cell death. 根据第五段“Physical activities seem to break this chain and slow tau’s tangle formation. (体育锻炼似乎能够打破这种循环,并减缓tau蛋白缠结的形成。)”可知,体育运动能打破淀粉样蛋白对tau蛋白的影响,从而延缓tau缠结的形成。故选A。 【11题详解】 主旨大意题。根据最后一段“These findings add to a growing body of evidence linking regular physical activity to better brain health and delayed cognitive aging and prove that meaningful brain benefits begin at far lower step counts. “Every step counts,” first author Wai-Ying Wendy Yau said. “We want to empower people to protect their brain and cognitive health by keeping physically active.” (这些研究结果进一步证实了规律的体育锻炼与更好的大脑健康状况以及延缓认知能力衰退之间存在关联,并且证明有意义的大脑益处的出现所需步数要远低于此前认为的数值。“每一步都很重要,”第一作者韦英·温迪·尤说道,“我们希望鼓励人们通过保持身体活动来保护自己的大脑和认知健康。”)”可知,最后一段主要说明了实验研究的意义。故选B。 D The cartoon interviewer greets you on-screen. 【答案】12. C 13. C 14. B 15. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Ten minutes later, Simba and I were walking in the nearby park. It had already been bathed in the rising sun. Enjoying the fresh air and birds singing, I felt refreshed and so did Simba. He led me into a dancing group and then began to run about loosely, sometimes playing with a dog, sometimes coming back to my side. It was amazing that I gradually shook my body to the cheerful melody. On our way home, a pet owner stopped to share experience of keeping pets. Unconsciously, morning walks became a routine As time went by, I found myself totally changed. Inspired by the bravery of Simba, I could leave my house without tears. Every time I felt down or defeated, my puppy would keep me company quietly and I would pour out all my inner thoughts to him. Whenever I got home, he greeted me by licking my hands and jumping up and down. Everything seemed to take a turn for the better. Not until then did I truly understand my therapist's advice. Thanks to Simba, my friend and instructor, it was he that restored my life. 词汇激活 行为类 ①陪伴:keep sb company/accompany sb/stay with sb ②鼓励:inspire/encoourage/stimulate ③恢复:restore/regenerate/reconstruct 情绪类 ①令人吃惊的:amazing/surprising/shocking ②情绪低落的:feel down/be down/low-spirited 【点睛】【高分句型1】Enjoying the fresh air and birds singing, I felt refreshed and so did Simba.(运用了分词短语作状语) 【高分句型2】Not until then did I truly understand my therapist's advice.(运用了部分倒装) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
