第六部分 写作
One day, I suddenly heard that John was going to study in another school. I felt a mix of emotions. But after considering, I thought I needed to apologize for my actions and seek his forgiveness. One day I got up the courage to walk up to him, saying “John, I want to apologize for what I did. I was wrong, and I’m truly sorry”, “I appreciate your apology,” he said calmly. “But you should know that I had already forgiven you a long time ago. We were both young and made mistakes.”
I was so happy that I shed tears of delight. His words washed over me like a wave of relief. I realized that holding onto guilt and anger had only hindered my own growth. It was time to let go of the past and rebuild our friendship. From that day forward, John and I became closer than ever before. Our shared experience taught us the value of forgiveness and understanding.

(Text 1)
W: How are you going to get home? Still taking the bus?
M: Well, I’ll take a taxi. There’re plenty of taxis around that area.
W: Yes. But you can ask Kevin for a ride. He’s coming along with us.
M: That’s good.
(Text 2)
W: Jack, look at this photo. Remember the day we volunteered to paint the classroom walls for the School Painting Day?
M: How could I forget? It took us hours, but the result was worth it.
(Text 3)
M: I highly recommend you to experience the latest 5D movie at the IMAX theater.
W: I’ve heard it’s very long. Was it truly impressive?
M: Yeah. It was out of this world.
(Text 4)
W: Well, I just wonder who puts the candies into the boxes. The workers?
M: No, it is done by a machine. This way, please. I’ll show you right away.
(Text 5)
W: Did you check the paper for mistakes?
M: I’ve spent the last four hours doing just that.
W: Really? Would you like me to take a look at it?
M: Be my guest! It is hard to write a good English essay.
(Text 6)
M: Do you need anything, madam? We have some new jackets. They’re very popular, and only $ 90.
W: Oh, the material feels very nice, but it costs a fortune.
M: Well, what about these skirts? Oh, look — they’re beautiful on you.
W: Hmm. They really are. How much are they?
M: Uh, they’re $ 80 each. No, wait. They’re on sale, 40% off.
W:40% off? That isn’t bad. And I need a skirt. OK, I guess I’ll take one.
(Text 7)
M: Do you have any brochures for local attractions?
W: Of course. They’re on the shelf behind you, right next to the tour map.
M: Thanks. I was planning to visit the National Museum this afternoon, but it’s closed. I thought it was open on holidays.
W: It usually is, but there’s a fundraiser tonight. The museum employees need time to set everything
up. The shows will be open to the public again tomorrow, though.
M: I’m flying back to Boston in the morning. Um, can you recommend something fun to do around here?
W: Why don’t you visit the market? It’s a great place to try delicious local dishes. It’s just down the street.
(Text 8)
M: Lately, I’ve been volunteering for Planet Breathe, a tree-planting charity.
W: Cool! What got you interested in that?
M: One day, I noticed there were only ten trees in a nearby park, where there should’ve been hundreds. I immediately checked online for tree-planting charities and found a video about Planet Breathe, in which a professor explained the importance of trees.
W: How was your last planting day?
M: It was good, actually! Last time, it was raining, which most people would see as negative, but it made the soil softer and planting easier. We planted near some huge, old industrial buildings that I’d never seen before. The planting took forever, which I could’ve done without, but it was really worth it.
(Text 9)
W: Did you enjoy yourself last night, Greg? In my opinion, Brenda is one of the best performers in the world. It was really amazing to see her perform live.
M: That’s for sure, Patty. She’s an excellent singer and also the best dancer I’ve ever seen.
W: Really? I didn’t think you liked her that much. I thought you liked Justin better.
M: I do like Justin and Carrie, but Brenda has a better voice than either Justin or Carrie.
W: Did you notice those costumes Brenda wore on stage? This was the most surprising part. It must have taken months to create them!
M: All of her costumes looked great! Plus, her dance moves made me feel like dancing myself! I’m going to watch the video and learn some of those dance steps so that I can perform them in our school talent show.
W: Great idea! But you’re going to have to practice a lot.
M: I will. I’m already looking forward to Brenda’s next concert.

As a young girl growing up in France, Sarah Toumi dreamed of becoming a leader who could make the world a better place. Her passion to help others was awakened when, from the age of nine, she accompanied her Tunisian father to his birthplace in the east of the country during holidays. There she organized homework clubs and activities for children.
Toumi witnessed first-hand the destructive effect of desertification (沙漠化).“Within 10 years rich farmers became worse off, and in 10 years from now they will be poor. I wanted to stop the Sahara Desert in its tracks.” A decrease in average rainfall and an increase in the severity of droughts have led to an estimated 75 percent of Tunisia’s agricultural lands being threatened by desertification.
Toumi recognized that farming practices needed to change. She is confident that small land areas can bring large returns if farmers are able to adapt by planting sustainable (可持续的) crops, using new technologies for water treatment and focusing on natural products and fertilizers (肥料) rather than chemicals.
In 2012, Toumi continued her dream to fight the desert. She moved to Tunisia, and set up a programme named Acacias for All to put her sustainable farming philosophy into action. “I want to show young people in rural areas that they can create opportunities where they are. Nobody is better able to understand the impact of desertification and climate change than somebody who is living with no access to water.”
By September 2016, more than 130,000 acacia trees had been planted on 20 pilot farms, with farmers recording a 60 percent survival rate. Toumi estimates that some 3 million acacia trees are needed to protect Tunisia’s farmland. She expects to plant 1 million trees by 2028. In the next couple of years, Toumi hopes to extend the programme to Algeria and Morocco.
24. How did Toumi’s holiday trips to Tunisia influence her?
A. They fired her enthusiasm for helping others.
B. They helped her better understand her father.
C. They made her decide to leave the country.
D. They destroyed her dream of being a teacher.
25. What is the main cause of the desertification of Tunisia’s farmland?
A. Cold weather. B. Soil pollution. C. Low rainfall. D. Forest damage.
26. Why did Toumi set up Acacias for All in Tunisia?
A. To create job opportunities for young people.
B. To promote the protection of their farmland.
C. To persuade the farmers not to use fertilizers.
D. To help the children obtain a basic education.
27. Which of the following can best describe Sarah?
A. Strict and intelligent. B. Responsible and determined.
C. Ambitious but self-doubting. D. Humble but inexperienced.

第二节(共5小题;每小题3分,满分15分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
I grew up in Sichuan, but I only learned to cook surprisingly late in life, after moving to Germany when I began missing the taste of home. My first adult kitchen was in a small shared flat in Berlin — Mitte. Out of necessity, I turned to Xiachufang, a Chinese user-generated recipe (菜谱) app, and taught myself a handful of dishes. 31 And over the next decade, I must have made it at least fifty, if not a hundred times.
I know I’m not alone. For many Chinese immigrants, tomato and egg is the first dish we master once we leave home. 32 It only began appearing in Chinese kitchens in the 1940s, yet it somehow became the most “default (默认的)” of home-cooked meals.
33 Some will claim no version (版本) tops their mother’s. Others chase down hidden menu at high-end restaurants or drive across Chengdu just for the plate everyone says is “the best”.
For all its simplicity, with just tomatoes, eggs, oil, and salt, some versions do taste better than others. 34 This summer, though, with late-season tomatoes at their peak, I decided to test what actually makes a difference. I cooked plate after plate, sometimes five or six times within two weeks. At one point, I threw a batch (一批) into the fridge, determined never to see tomato and egg again. 35
A. They were an absolute treat.
B. Tomato and egg stir-fry was one of them.
C. The dish often pulled me back to my childhood.
D. The surprising fact is that the dish itself is relatively young.
E. Today, tomato and egg are both universal and deeply personal.
F. Yet the next day, I reheated it, paired it with steamed rice, and ate up the whole thing.
G. For years, I made mine with the cheapest supermarket tomatoes I could find in Germany.
