Emily loved to draw. She drew her family, her cat, and the flowers in her garden. But she never showed her drawings to anyone. She kept them in a box under her bed. Every time she wanted to share, she felt hesitant (犹豫的).
One day, her art teacher, Mr. Garcia, said, “Class, we’re having an art competition. The subject is ‘My Happy Place’. Everyone must join in.”
Emily’s heart beat fast. She wanted to join in but was worried. What if people didn’t like her drawing? A small whisper (低语) said, “Just try.” Another voice said, “Don’t be silly.”
At home, Emily thought about her happy place—her grandmother’s garden. There were bright flowers, green trees, and a little pond with fish. That place always made her feel safe. She decided to draw it.
For three days, Emily worked hard. She used her best colored pencils. She drew every flower carefully. She slowly built up confidence.
On Friday, she brought her drawing to school. Her hands shook as she gave it to Mr. Garcia. She looked down, afraid to see his eyes.
“You drew this?” Mr. Garcia asked, eyes wide. “Emily, this is beautiful!”
Emily’s mouth opened but no words came out. She felt less afraid.
The next week, Mr. Garcia declared the winner. “The winner is... Emily!”
Emily couldn’t believe it. Her heart jumped with joy. Her drawing was on the wall for everyone to see. Her classmates said, “Great job, Emily!” She smiled and said, “Thank you.” For the first time, she felt proud.
From that day on, Emily no longer hid her artworks from others. She realized that sharing the things she loves not only makes herself happy but also helps her connect better with people around her.

Have you ever seen a rainbow after rain? It’s one of nature’s most beautiful wonders. But what exactly causes a rainbow?
Rainbows appear when sunlight and raindrops work together. When sunlight passes through raindrops, the light bends (弯曲). This is called refraction (折射). Different colors of light bend at different angles. That’s why we see seven colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
After the light bends, it hits the back of the raindrop and comes back. This is reflection (反射). Then it bends again as it leaves the drop. This double bending and one reflection create the rainbow we see.
For you to see a rainbow, the sun must be behind you and the rain in front of you.The best time is early morning or late afternoon when the sun is lower. Rainbows are more common in warm areas where rain and sunshine often happen together.
Did you know that rainbows are actually full circles? From the ground, you only see half of them. ▲
Sometimes you can see two rainbows at once. The second rainbow has its colors in opposite order-red on the inside and violet on the outside. This happens when light reflects twice inside the raindrops.
Rainbows have led to many stories. In some cultures, people believe there’s a lot of gold at the end. But scientists say you can never reach the end-as you move, the rainbow moves too!

Food is an important part of culture. Chinese and western eating habits are very different in many ways. Here are five main differences.
____36____
Chinese people use almost every part of an animal, including feet, head, and internal parts. For example, chicken feet are a popular dish in China. However, western people usually eat only certain parts like breast or legs, and they often throw away the rest.
____37____
Chinese cooks use many spices (香料) to create rich tastes. Sichuan food is famous for its hot taste. Western cooking often uses herbs(香草) and sauces. Chinese food is usually stronger and more complex in taste.
____38____
There are many ways to cook in China. People here prefer to cook with oil and spices. Western cooking mainly uses frying and boiling. Salads are very common in the West.
____39____
Chinese people use chopsticks, so food is usually cut into small pieces before cooking. This makes it easy to pick up with chopsticks. Western people use knives and forks, so food servings are often larger and cut at the table.
____40____
In China, dishes are placed in the middle of the table and people use their own chopsticks to take food from the shared plates. This shows the value of family and togetherness. In the West, each person usually has their own plate of food. They eat only what is on their own plate, which reflects the Western focus on individualism (个人主义).

【原文】Hi, boys and girls. Today, let’s talk about how some animals keep food in winter. One important thing animals face is to get enough food. To solve this problem, some animals collect and hide food. One example is a kind of mouse living in the northeast part of the USA. It is cold in the northeast area during winter, and it is difficult for the mouse to climb trees to find its food as usual. So the mouse collects and prepares food in autumn. It digs many holes in the ground and hides the food in the holes. Instead of putting all the food in one hole, it digs hundreds of holes every autumn and puts its food in each hole. Because if some hidden food happens to be found or stolen by other animals, the mouse still has enough food to eat during the winter.

【导语】本文是说明文,介绍了彩虹的形成原理、观测条件及相关传说。
【31题详解】
根据文章第二段第一句“Rainbows appear when sunlight and raindrops work together.”(当阳光和雨滴共同作用时,彩虹就会出现。)可知,彩虹的形成需要阳光和雨滴。与D一致。
【32题详解】
虽然试题未提供图片,但根据文章第三段描述“After the light bends, it hits the back of the raindrop and comes back. This is reflection.”(光线弯曲后,击中雨滴背面并返回。这就是反射。)可知,反射发生在光线进入雨滴内部到达背面返回的过程中。在常规的光路示意图中,b→c段通常代表光线在雨滴内部的反射路径。故选B。
