3、 阅读理解(共22分)
A
(本题8分)Have you changed your mind after learning something new? Maybe you think one answer is right on a test (测验), but then you read the question again and choose a different one. Scientists have found that chimps can do this too. This amazing ability shows that chimps are smarter than we thought. For a long time, people believed only humans (人类) could change their ideas based on new facts (事实). But now we know that our closest animal relatives (亲戚) share this special ability with us.
In Uganda, Africa, researchers (研究者) made a clever test for the chimps. They put food in one of the two boxes—a yellow box and a blue box, and gave the chimps clues (线索) about where the food was. The researchers shook (摇晃) the yellow box that had wood inside. The shaking made a noise, so it sounded like the food was in the yellow box. The chimps listened carefully and picked up this yellow box. But here’s the interesting part: after that, the researchers showed them what was really in the blue box—a piece of apple! When the chimps saw this new evidence, many of them changed their minds and picked up the blue box instead.
This finding is very exciting because it shows that chimps can think in a clear way. That means chimps can have an idea, look for facts, and then change their minds when they learn something new. This is what a four-year-old human child can do.
What does this mean for us? It tells us that animals are often smarter than we think. Chimps don’t just act without thinking. They can think, understand, and change what they do when things are different. This beautiful finding should make us treat all living things with more respect and care. The world is full of amazing minds, not just human ones.
26.(2分)What can we know from the test in Uganda?
A.The researchers shook the yellow box to make the chimps relaxed.
B.The chimps first picked up the yellow box but then the blue one instead.
C.The chimps picked up the blue box after seeing the wood.
D.The food was first put in the yellow box, and then put in the blue box.
27.(2分)What does the word “evidence” in Paragraph 2 most probably mean?
A.Game. B.Fact. C.Wood. D.Test.
28.(2分)Which is NOT true about the finding of the research?
A.Chimps are often smarter than we think.
B.Chimps can think in a clear way like a four-year-old child.
C.Chimps can make new facts to help them change their minds.
D.Chimps may change their minds after learning something new.
29.(2分)The writer writes the passage in order to make us feel ________.
A.respectful of all living things B.excited to have so many animal friends
C.hopeful of having smarter chimps D.interested in finding out more about chimps

(本题6分)When you go out for a walk or a jog, do you see rubbish (垃圾) on the road? Maybe a plastic bottle, some paper, or an empty can. All the rubbish is bad for the environment (环境). But how often do you stop to pick it up?
Well, a new sport called “plogging” is encouraging people to do just that. The word “plogging” comes from “jogging” and “plocka upp”. “Plocka upp” means “pick up” in Swedish (瑞典语). So the idea of “plogging” is simple: pick up rubbish when you jog!
In 2016, Erik Ahlstrom, a runner, moved to Stockholm from a small city in northern Sweden. He was upset to see so much rubbish when he went for a run every day. So he created (创造) the word “plogging”. He also made a website (网站) called Plogga to help people start plogging.
Now, plogging is popular all over the world. The World Plogging Championship has been held every year in Italy since 2021. In 2024, over 80 ploggers from 13 countries took part in it and collected over 1,200 kilograms of rubbish. In fact, there are more benefits.
Plogging is also good for your health because you’re running and squatting (蹲) to pick up rubbish. Plogging burns (燃烧) more calories (卡路里) than just jogging. Moreover, if you ask others to plog with you, it becomes a fun group activity, and you’ll collect more rubbish together!
Of course, not everyone likes jogging. But you can combine (结合) picking up rubbish with other sports. The Plogga website says you can do it while riding bikes, skateboarding, or even just walking—any way you like to get outside and move!
30.(2分)Which picture shows the sport of “plogging”?

(本题8分)Have you ever noticed that you feel sharper (更敏锐的) after exercising? Researchers from University College London have studied this interesting idea. Their study is mainly about how exercise influences our brain, especially in older adults. They found that the influence of physical activities can remain even into the next day.
In the study, 76 people aged between 50 and 83 took part in different physical activities. These activities such as fast walking, dancing, and climbing stairs made their hearts beat faster. The scientists found that after the activities, the participants (参与者) felt sharper the next day. They not only had better focus (专注力), but also enjoyed better and more peaceful sleep. This is important because good sleep helps us think clearly and remember things better. The study also showed that more sitting and fewer physical activities led to worse cognitive skills (认知技能) the next day. This means if you don’t move much, your brain might feel a bit cloudy and less active.
But why is exercise so beneficial to our brains? When we move our bodies and get our hearts beating, more oxygen and nutrients (营养物) reach our brains, helping them work better. Exercise also triggers the production of something special called neurotransmitters (神经递质). They help us feel better and think more clearly.
According to the study, you don’t have to go to a gym or follow a strict exercise plan to gain these benefits. Simple activities, like playing sports, riding your bike, or even having a dance party in your room, can help keep your mind sharp. Mikaela Bloomberg, one of the researchers, points out that staying active is something easy to achieve. For students, exercise can lead to better focus in class and better memory for study. It’s advised that kids and teenagers should get at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day. It could be anything you enjoy, like playing outside with friends or joining a sports team.
Here comes the advice: the next time you feel a bit inactive or hard to focus, remember to get up and move around. It can help you feel sharper and more alive!
33.(2分)According to the study, we can learn that ________.
A.more sitting is good for the brain
B.physical activities have no influence on us
C.doing exercise helps to improve our focus and sleep
34.(2分)The word “trigger” in Paragraph 3 is closest in meaning to ________.

C.Going mountain climbing with friends.
36.(2分)Which of the following would be the best title of the passage?

You may have experienced the feeling. Your mouth feels like it’s on fire. Your eyes start to water. That’s what happens when you try chili peppers—nature’s hottest foods!
Chili peppers, also called chilies, are found in dishes around the world, like Indian curries, Thai tom yum soup, and Mexican enchiladas. Chilies come from the capsicum plant. They are “hot” because they contain something called capsaicin (辣椒素). Capsaicin is very good for your health. It helps you breathe better, and it may even help keep you fit. Capsaicin makes you feel less hungry. It also makes your body burn energy faster.
We can measurethe heat of chilies in units called Scoville heat units (SHU). The world’s hottest chili is the Carolina Reaper. Eating a hot chili can be painful, but some people love to eat them. Anandita Dutta Tamuly, a woman from Assam, India, becomes famous for eating chilies. She eats 51 hot peppers in just two minutes! The peppers are Naga Jolokia (“ghost peppers”). They grow in Assam and are the third-hottest chilies in the world. “I find eating chilies is a great way to stay healthy,” says Tamuly. She began eating chilies when she was a child. She eats chilies when she is sick, too. “Every time I have a cold or flu, I just eat some chilies and I feel better. To be honest, I hardly notice them now.”

Every winter, Shenzhen Bay attracts many migratory birds like black-faced spoonbills because of its suitable environment and plenty of food. Protecting them helps keep ecological balance.
However, some visitors make loud noises, throw rubbish, and chase the birds. As a result, the birds get frightened and cannot rest. Worse still, they may eat plastic waste and die.
Therefore, we should always keep quiet and keep a safe distance. Also, take away our rubbish and never feed the birds. In short, let’s be the guardians of these lovely birds together.
Yours sincerely,
