What have you learnt from this story? From the story, I’ve learnt that nature has the power to heal, and sharing secrets or problems with others can bring happiness. Also, taking care of something, like the garden, helps us grow into kinder, more positive people. If you were Mary, what would you do at the beginning of the story? I would try to explore the big house and garden earlier, and talk to the servants to learn about the mysterious crying sound. Instead of feeling bored and lonely, I might draw, read, or try gardening to make my life more interesting.
