A video from a documentary called Secrets of the Penguins surprised many people. It showed that in Antarctica, hundreds of baby emperor penguins jumped down from a 15-meter-high cliff.
Baby penguins usually grow on safe sea ice. When they are about five months old, they grow new waterproof feathers. Then they can jump into the sea and find food. But now, the ice is becoming less and less because of warming weather. If the ice melts before their new feathers grow, the babies may drown or freeze.

China is making the world’s fastest high-speed train—CR450. It can run at 400 km/h on average, and the highest speed can reach 453 km/h.
The key to a safe high-speed train is not only speed but braking ability. Zhao Hongwei, an engineer, said: “The key is to brake well.” CR450 has the same braking distance as CR400, which is 6,500 meters. But CR450 can start braking much faster—only 1.7 seconds, while CR400 takes 2.3 seconds.
Engineers tested the brakes many times. The brake disc could reach 700℃. The smart system uses test data to make brakes safer. CR450 will greatly shorten travel time. For example, traveling from Beijing to Shanghai will take only two and a half hours.
9.What is CR450’s highest speed?
A. 350 km/h B. 400 km/h C. 453 km/h D. 6500 km/h

C. Hotter brake disc.D. More noise.
12.What’s the best title?
A. China’s Fastest Train: CR450
B. How to Make Trains Faster
