How often do you walk around the campus instead of getting straight onto the shuttle bus? The beauties of our campus deserve to be better explored and can best be explored on foot. Walking is also a greener and healthier alternative to using vehicles. When I was younger, I couldn’t wait to escape from Rams gate, the harbor town where I grew up on the Isle of Thanet. It could feel small: the same faces in the same places, and where a new cafe or gallery was often met with doubt. There was this apparent insistence that life was fine as it was. But for a teenager itching to see more, that lack of curiosity was disheartening. So I left. I headed north for a four-year academic journey from York to Durham. After university,having played at newspapers, I made the move to London to do it for real. But the reality was tough. I struggled to contribute to various dailies before periods on staff at both magazines and newspapers. In my twenties, I threw myself into city life: sampling Mediterranean restaurants, navigating around on the Tube, and staying out late with friends.

As I got older, trips back to Thanet opened my eyes to what I had left behind. Mainly, it was the sea. Wide yellow sands and even the touch of salt in the air, ordinary in childhood, suddenly felt appealing. But I also started to miss the beat of small-town life: waving to people on the street, noticing whose garden was overgrown, finding charm even in the pubs I had once dismissed. What's more, where I'd once hurried to leave, others are now rushing to arrive. Artists, creatives, and technologists have been priced out of London and are pouring to Thanet, bringing new ideas and drive. Now, when I head back home, I feel a mixture of pride and mild wonder: the place I once thought I’d outgrown has had a face lift I wasn’t expecting.
I’ll keep returning to Thanet, with eager willingness. Each visit reminds me that places, like people, can grow without losing their essence. I've come to love Thanet as more than just the home I left; it is now the place it continues to become.

OpenAI recently released ChatGPT Images 2.0, a new AI image generation model. It can create multiple images from one simple prompt and produce text in languages like Chinese and Hindi. The model is accessible globally to ChatGPT users, with a more advanced version offered to paid subscribers.
Major AI companies’ new image models always arouse public interest and drive usage. Previous examples include Google’s Nano Banana and the early version of ChatGPT Images, which once became social media hits among users sharing AI-made portraits and caricatures.
Different from earlier versions, ChatGPT Images 2.0 is equipped with ChatGPT’s reasoning ability. It can search online for latest information and finish more detailed image creation. Its knowledge is updated till December 2025. Besides, it delivers more precise and detailed outputs. For instance, it can generate accurate weather infographics and lifelike local landmark drawings of San Francisco. It also supports flexible aspect ratios, ranging from wide 3:1 to tall 1:3, allowing users to adjust image sizes freely.
In initial tests, the model performs much better in English text rendering. Old AI image models often produced messy or wrong characters, while Images 2.0 outputs cleaner and more complex text. However, when tested with Chinese text on a fan-themed collage poster, the result was unsatisfying. Much Chinese text was fake, meaningless or mixed with Japanese-style characters, instead of accurate real sentences.
Though Images 2.0 shows great progress in English text generation, its performance in other languages remains uncertain. Still, global users’ data may help OpenAI improve the model in future updates.

Though the two guidelines hold different views on meat consumption, they share the same general goal: to help people develop scientific and healthy eating habits. As medical research advances, related dietary advice will keep getting updated and improved.

When I was younger, I couldn’t wait to escape from Rams gate, the harbor town where I grew up on the Isle of Thanet. It could feel small: the same faces in the same places, and where a new cafe or gallery was often met with doubt. There was this apparent insistence that life was fine as it was. But for a teenager itching to see more, that lack of curiosity was disheartening. So I left. I headed north for a four-year academic journey from York to Durham. After university,having played at newspapers, I made the move to London to do it for real. But the reality was tough. I struggled to contribute to various dailies before periods on staff at both magazines and newspapers. In my twenties, I threw myself into city life: sampling Mediterranean restaurants, navigating around on the Tube, and staying out late with friends.
