People in different parts of the world eat different things.
In some countries, people usually eat rice. In others, people eat noodles every day, even every meal. Many people usually eat meat, fish and vegetables. But some people don’t eat any meat.
Japanese eat a lot of fish, and they also eat rice. In some Western countries such as England, Australia and the USA, the most important food is bread or potatoes, and people there can cook potatoes in different ways.
Some people only eat fruit and vegetables. They don’t eat meat or fish or anything that comes from animals. They only eat food from plants. Some people say that food from plants is better for them than meat. But meat and fish can also give the energy and nutritive elements (营养元素). So most sportsmen eat meat and fish.
Everyone has his or her favorite food. We should eat healthy food to keep strong and fit.
1.Do people in different places eat the same food?
2.What’s the most important food in Western countries?
3.Why do most sportsmen eat meat and fish?

Hello, I’m David Smith. I love sports because they keep me healthy and help me make friends. Of all the sports, I like playing football best. Every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, I join our school football team for practice. We practise on the school field. Our teacher, Mr. Chen, teaches us passing skills and teamwork strategies (策略).
At first, I find it hard to run for a long time. My legs often feel tired, and I want to stop. But my teammates always encourage me. Now, I drink more water and do warm-up exercises before practice. This helps me stay energetic. We often take part in the matches and meet many players from other schools. We talk and laugh after matches, and some even become my close friends now. For example, I meet Tom from Sunshine Middle School. We become good friends. We share snacks and cheer for each other every day.
On weekends, I volunteer at a sports center. I help younger kids learn some football rules. It makes me feel useful because I can do what I love to do and help others at the same time.
Sports give me not only energy but also wonderful friendship! A strong sense of achievement is also filled with my heart after keeping doing sports. Therefore, I hope more people can take part in sports to keep fit and make life more colorful!

We would get out a pan (平底锅), some corn, oil and butter, and wait for the first popcorn to jump with an exciting sound. Then, we would shake the pan over the stove (炉子) to stop the popcorn from burning —shake, shake, shake, and pop, pop, pop—until the pan was filled with delicious popcorn! Mom would pour it all into a big bowl and add some salt on top.
Later, we would all come to the living room. Dad would sit in his chair, while my mom, brothers, and I would relax on the sofa. There was always a lot of popcorn to eat, and mom even let me eat the half-popped kernels.
The funny thing is that I didn’t remember the shows we watched, but I still remember the smell of the popcorn, the warmth of the bowl, and the joy of being with my family.

But now many animals are in danger. Some people cut down too many trees, so animals lose their homes and food. Some people pollute (污染) rivers and lakes, making animals’ living places dirty. Some even kill animals for money. It’s very bad.
How to protect (保护) animals?

I felt so loved, safe and happy. We didn’t have a big house, expensive snacks or much money, but our love for each other was everything.
So we should remember to enjoy the time and the love of our families. They truly make life beautiful.
