We count on Internet service to deal with the fun things like streaming movies. But we also depend on it to spread and receive information, making a strong connection important. Unluckily, many people struggle with WiFi problems in their homes. The good news? A range of easy methods can help, from repositioning your existing router (路由器) to trying a new router. If the signal from your Internet service provider seems fine, you’ll need to check your router. Start with an easy fix: Move your router to a better location. Think of it like a light that’s supposed to brighten up a whole room. For the best results, the router should be in an open, central, heightened position, rather than in a closet, behind a TV, or on the floor. If moving the router doesn’t solve the problem, you might need to try one of the following top- rated single-unitrouters. Model Overall score Price Test results AX4200 90 $165 ★★★★★ BE6800 88 $300 ★★★★★ XR1000 82 $290 ★★★★ AX5400 80 $155 ★★★★ For a single dead corner of your house, you can try a low-cost WiFi extender, a piece of equipment that connects to electricity and sends the signal deeper into your home. For the best results, place it about halfway between your router and the dead corner. However, this solution has disadvantages. Extenders often create a separate WiFi network that you have to join through your computer, and they can cut the connection speed by half. But the signal should be good enough for basic tasks like web surfing. 21. Where should a router be placed for the best results? A. In a corner. B. Behind a TV. C. Under the dining table. D. On an open bookshelf. 22. Which model of routers offers the best value for money? A. AX4200. B. BE6800. C. XR1000. D. AX5400. 23. What is the limitation of a WiFi extender? A. Its price is high. B. Its size is large. C. It slows down the Internet speed. D. It puts users’ personal information at risk. B Recently, my husband and three kids were playing in the Mediterranean, swimming and floating in the picture-perfect sea. It was extremely beautiful in Majorca, Spain. The way the sun danced across the water and how the blue horizon was dotted with storybook sailboats were such beautiful scenes. I almost couldn’t believe my eyes. My husband and I always dreamed about taking our kids on a trip around the world. It was something we always wanted to do “one day”. It was one of the things we talked at length about, when we imagined our life with the children we hoped we would have. Fourteen years later, we had three boys who were growing up faster by the day. It was time to make good on those plans. We spent dozens of hours discussing, researching and planning. We had to learn how to “road school” our kids and arrange time off from work. We renewed our passports, and then packed our bags. We showed our kids the world. It was about experiencing the dozens of flights and trains and taxis together. We showed them how wonderful, how diverse, and how amazing the world is. We wanted them to learn all that we had learned ourselves, through our own travels as young adults. But there was something more than that: What we really wanted is to slow down time. We wanted the days to last a bit longer, and the weeks to take their time. The years with our children are going too fast. We wanted to put the brakes on (阻止) our busy lives for a year, and just be with our kids. We wanted a break from the daily morning routine of making lunches, eating breakfast and rushing out of the door in time for school. We needed a family time-out. It was a wonderful two-month trip in Europe, full of incredible moments. And when we look back at our lives, I know we’ll be glad we did it. I know we’ll be happy that this is a chapter of the story of our family. 24. What was the author’s attitude toward the trip when planning it? A. Worried. B. Calm. C. Stressed. D. Eager. 25. What does the underlined part “make good on” in Paragraph 3 probably mean? A. Change. B. Realize. C. Improve. D. Cancel. 26. What was the author’s main purpose of taking this trip? A. To teach her children to value life. B. To allow her children to see the world. C. To enjoy a family breakaway from their life routine. D. To enable her children to learn something out of class. 27. How did the author feel about their two-month stay in Europe? A. Tired. B. Satisfied. C. Inspired. D. Disappointed. C Listening to birds and water can lower stress and improve mood, study finds. Researchers have long known there are benefits from being in nature. Living around trees can help you live longer. Walking in the woods is good for your mood. Being near water can have positive effects on your well-being. A new study finds that natural sounds offer health benefits too. There is plenty of evidence that spending time in natural areas is good for our health — but typically this research is done from a visual perspective, but we are curious what the role is of sounds we hear in these spaces. Some examples they found reported in those studies included decreased pain, lowered stress, improved mood, and better cognitive (认知的) function. With these results in hand, they then listened to audio recordings from 251 sites in 68 national parks across the United States. The sites with the most natural sounds and the lowest man-made sounds were located in Alaska, Hawaii, and the Pacific Northwest and were far from urban areas. Only three locations with high natural sounds and low noise pollution were within 100 kilometers (62 miles) of urban areas. However, despite human-made noises being heard most of the time at sites in urban locations, birds were still heard about 60% of the time and geophysical sounds like wind and rain heard about 19% of the time. Not all natural sounds deliver the same benefits, the researchers found. For example, they discovered that the sounds of water had the largest impact on improving positive emotions and health outcomes, while bird sounds ease stress and annoyance. And the sounds of both birds and water were heard more than 23% of the time in the national park recording sites. Interestingly, there was also some evidence that natural sounds have benefits over silence. There was also evidence that more different types of natural sounds — more types of birds singing rather than just one type of bird— have benefits over fewer sounds. 28. What does the new study focus on? A. The effect natural sounds have on health. B. The harm man-made sounds do to health. C. The benefits natural sounds bring to the environment. D. The effect nature has on people from visual perspective. 29. What is an ideal site according to paragraph 4? A. It is away from cities. B. It has no noise pollution. C. It has bird songs most of the time. D. It is within 62 miles of urban areas. 30. What brings more benefits to people? A. The silence of nature. B. The sounds of water. C. The diversity of natural sounds. D. Natural sounds mixed with noises. 31. Which of the following can be the best title for the text? A. It Is Beneficial to Live Close to Water B. We Are Surrounded by All Kinds of Sounds C. The Sounds of Nature Affect Your Well-being D. Man-made Noise Pollution Is Harmful to Our Health D College and high-school teachers are expressing concern about ChatGPT, an AI program that allows people with limited writing skills to create high-quality texts. It calls into question how and why we teach writing at all. If AI can do a fairly good job at most writing tasks, why spend so much time learning writing in school? In fact, learning to write goes beyond just mastering grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. It involves much more. For one thing, it’s about learning to turn a loose set of thoughts into a clear line of reasoning — a skill that is useful for everyone, not just those who enjoy writing or need to do a lot of it for work. Learning to write also trains your imagination to construct the person who will read your words. It puts you in relation to someone you may not know, someone who may even not exist. When you learn to write, you learn to meet their needs in an unfamiliar context. Even ordinary assignments teach students to predict what another person knows and expects. Writing is never simply self-expression. It’s expression to a specific audience for a specific purpose. In some cases, like a love letter, a writer knows their audience very well. In others, the audience is every bit a work of the imagination as a novel’s characters are. Writers, then, should give up trying to address the public at large, but should imagine that a friend, though not the closest friend, is listening to our talk. When this act of imagination is done well, a reader can feel deeply understood, as if a stranger has told them some previously unknown truth about themselves. That’s how I felt reading “Difference Maker” — an essay about parenthood. While our situations were unique, naming the problem provided a deeper understanding. It seems unavoidable that large-language models of AI will allow us to offload some of the writing tasks that students learn in school. But we can’t allow ourselves to lose the capacity to empathize (共情) with distant strangers at just the moment when we’re more able than ever to communicate with them. 32. What is teachers’ concern about ChatGPT? A. It’s a challenge to apply it to teaching. B. It’s hard to grade a paper written by it. C. It limits students’ imagination and creativity. D. It questions the necessity of teaching writing. 33. What does the author think of learning to write? A. It helps with logical thinking. B. It is a basic skill for everyone. C. It focuses on correct expression. D. It is closely related to social skills. 34. What makes writing effective according to the text? A. Expressing oneself. B. Targeting intended readers. C. Conveying imaginative ideas. D. Creating attractive characters. 35. What may be a suitable title for the text? A. What AI Can’t Teach the Writing Students B. ChatGPT Writing VS Traditional Writing C. Never Lose the Capacity for Empathy D. What Is the Future for AI Writing 第二节(共5小题,每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 As a student, you have a lot of freedom when it comes to how you spend your time. But with that freedom comes the responsibility to make the most of your studying hours. Here are some tips to help you do just that. Create a schedule This means setting aside specific times for studying each day and then sticking to that schedule as closely as possible. Of course, there will be days when things come up, and you have to deviate(偏离) from your plan. 36 Break up your study sessions into smaller periods Our brain can only focus effectively for so long before we start losing concentration. 37 , chances are much higher that you won't remember all of the information you're trying to learn. Instead, break up your study sessions into shorter periods of time, with breaks in between to help you relax and recharge. Find a study place that works for you 38 . Some people prefer to study in complete silence, while others find that some background noise helps them focus better. There is no right or wrong answer here-it's all about finding a place to study. that allows you to work as efficiently as possible. Take practice quizzes This will not only help you check your understanding of the concepts but also identify any area that may need more review. 39 ,it will be much easier for you to direct your study sessions accordingly and make better use of your time overall. 40 If you find that you're struggling to understand the material or just not making progress as quickly as you’d like, seek assistance in time. There is no shame in admitting that you need assistance. In fact, it can save lots of time in the long run by getting you the support you need early on. A. Learn to accept failure B. Don’t be afraid to ask for help C. So if you try to study for several hours once D. Make sure that every minute you spend studying counts E. However, try not to go off-track too often or for too long F. Where you study can also affect how effectively you use your time G. The next day was unbearable 41 , so our teacher led us to the lake. Everyone 42 in the lake happily—except Max, who sat alone on the dock (码头), looking anything but 43 . This was surprising because he was the best swimmer at camp. So why was he 44 the lake? 45 , I swam over and asked, “Hey, why aren’t you joining us? Seizing the moment, I shared my 50 for facing fears: “When I’m scared of the dark, I turn on a light to see there’s nothing there. Maybe you’d feel better if you saw what’s actually in the water.” I handed him goggles (泳镜) and 51 first. “See? Nothing scary,” I reported when I surfaced. Max 52 but finally put on the goggles, took a deep breath, and went underwater. “Any lake monsters (怪物)?” I asked when he came up. The journey begins with ink, a fundamental material that 57 (rub) to the desired consistency on an inkstone with a little water. Then the painter uses a pointed-tipped brush crafted from the hair of goats, deer, or 58 (wolf) set in a shaft of bamboo. Typically, traditional Chinese paintings are brought to life on a length of silk or a sheet of paper, 59 surface is absorbent, allowing no room for erasure or correction. One must, therefore, know beforehand what he intends to do. 60 (achieve) a successful creation, each stroke demands unwavering confidence, swift execution and a profound mastery of technique 61 (train) through years of practice. Chinese painting consists of three main subjects: human figures, landscapes, and birds and flowers. She had a wise way to reach difficult students: instead of judgment, she would make an intentional effort to find their smallest strength. Last term, Marc was assigned to Ms Green’s class. He had a reputation around the school for his behavior: disturbing class, skipping homework and fighting with classmates. Constantly lectured by teachers, he grew cold and defensive. “Marc’s real trouble — he’ll ruin your class order,” other teachers warned Ms Green. She listened and inquired, “But what’s something good about him?” She learned Marc was a dedicated football player. The first time Marc entered class, she greeted him with “I’ve heard about you”. At this point, the kid was preparing for the usual speech: “You’d better not cause trouble in my class...” Unexpectedly, he heard, "You’re that great football player? Can I get your game schedule?" Initially, he didn’t get her message, and then it sank in: Ms Green wanted to watch him play. Warmth flooded into his heart — no adult had done him such an honor, and he nodded excitedly. Ms Green kept her word. From the sidelines, she shouted Marc’s name and cheered him on. Her warm and sincere favor stimulated his whole-hearted engagement in the game. He played with remarkable focus. Back in class, Ms Green praised Marc, “You showed great teamwork out there.” Then she encouraged him, “Why not bring that focus here? I’m convinced you’ll do well.” Greatly motivated, Marc started to change for the better. However, one Monday morning, Marc stormed into the classroom, looking angry and down. He slammed his bag on the desk and sat silently, refusing to talk to anyone. All his previous rudeness seemed to come back in a flash. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Paragraph 1: Seeing that, Ms Green walked towards him quietly and patted him on the shoulder gently. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: From that day on, Marc became a completely different boy both on the field and in the classroom._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 参考答案 周口市第三高级中学2025—2026学年度下期高二期中考试 高二英语试卷 第一部分 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 1. She didn’t criticize him or ask him to calm down, but just sat beside his desk silently, waiting for him to speak. After a few minutes, Marc raised his head with red eyes, and Ms Green smiled softly, saying, “I know you’re upset, and I’m here to listen.” Marc finally burst into tears, telling her he lost an important football game and felt like a failure. Ms Green patted his back, comforting him and reminding him of his dedication and strength on the field. From that day on, Marc became a completely different boy both on the field and in the classroom. He trained harder than ever before, turning his disappointment into motivation and becoming a key player of the football team. In class, he was no longer rude or absent-minded; instead, he listened carefully, finished his homework on time and even helped his classmates with their studies. He often thanked Ms Green, who taught him to face failure bravely and believe in himself. Eventually, Marc grew into a responsible, hard-working and warm-hearted boy. When will the two speakers leave? We are gathered here today to Mark the 15th anniversary of the Sunrise Future Project. Many of you have offered your time. Whether by working at the community center or tutoring at the local learning center, on behalf of everyone whose life has been touched by this project, I extend our heartfelt thanks to each of you. I speak from my own experience. At 16 I faced a difficult family situation and had no stable home. It was then that a social worker connected me with the Sunrise volunteer. That was the turning point. Through the project, I received not only a safe place to stay, but also the steady academic guidance and help in developing practical skills. Today, I am pursuing further studies at a college, spending several hours each week as a volunteer at the very same community center. There I meet teenagers who are going through challenges similar to what I once faced. It reminds me daily how powerful your generosity can be. Now it is my great honor to invite our Chairman, Elena Wright, who will share with us the inspiring story of how the Sunrise Future Project began. 高二英语试题 第 1 页 共 4 页 高二英语试题 第 2 页 共 4 页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
